Not sure, he remained a controversial figure right to the end. Somehow, I can see "conspiracy theories" arising from his death.

OH this one is EASY, Jody. First off - his fiancee hears a splash and goes out to see what's what and he's already at the bottom of the pool? How freaking big is that house and how damned long did it take her to get there. He didn't holler to her at all? So this guy just drowns (pretty instantly) and never once screams for help? She heard the splash, wouldn't she hear a call for help? So he swallowed water and couldn't scream? Repeat first question - she investigated the splash but he had already drowned? WTF?

Okay - now this excellent swimmer is out there - sees that her beloved fiancee is in the bottom of the pool. Does she dive in to rescue him in an event where seconds can make a difference? Nope - she calls 911 and THEY pull him out of the pool when they get there.

Yep all makes sense to me. Sorry - we have a murder on our hands.

Sal, the way I posted the last post makes it sound like I hated the guy. Not so, I hated everything about the events and was glad that he won a law suit.

As for the fiance, she was to small to try and pull him out of the pool. She was the juror that changed the minds of other jurors regarding the settlement Rodney eventually received. Don't know if she got pi$$ed off and did something she shouldn't have?!

When I mentioned the "conspiracy theories", it was because I had read a comment regarding the initial four police officers involved in the beating, suggesting they may have been in the neighborhood.

Wasn't even noticing how you felt about the guy.

But --- awe, what a nice love story. Juror gets a large settlement for known convict (not saying the beating was warranted, but he was a known convict), then falls in love and moves in with him. Later she finds him a in the pool dead. I'm assuming his estate is already in her inheritance, too. She seems to have a sharp business mind.

Now whether SHE killed him or not, who could guess. But you don't just fall in a pool and drown instantly. If she went to see what the splash was, she'd be there quick enough to save him. People weigh nothing in water. She could have very easily gotten him to the top, into the shallow area and administered CPR while waiting for 911 even if she wasn't strong enough to actually lift him out of the pool. She's a good swimmer, smart enough to sway a whole jury - but couldn't figure that one out? Come on.

My guess is that she knew he was dead - and it wasn't from drowning. Cops in the area may be interesting, too. It just doesn't hold straight the way it's told, that's all. Maybe other facts would make it a little more believable, but from what was given, it sounds like pure horse hockey.

Well the first thing I didn't get was most dead bodies float 'dead man's float' - no?

Why did he sink? cement shoes?

There are a million reasons why she didn't hear anything though - she could be in the bathtub or shower, have the music blasting, went to the store, etc.

He was a drunk wasn't he? maybe he drank so 'heavily' that is why is sunk instead of floated.

    Rest in Peace Rodney King

Bodies don't initially float, Pat. At least when they drown.

According to her, she heard the splash.

I'm sure there will be a thorough investigation. He was old enough to have had a heart attack and maybe he just collapsed and fell in the pool -- maybe not, but a coroner worth the salary will know a lot once the tests are done at the autopsy.

I lost a friend late last summer. She was overweight but still very active. Her heart just gave out overnight after she complained of a stomach ache and went to bed early. Her kids (older teens) and husband are all overweight, too, and I do hope losing her makes them do something about their weight before it's too late. You can be younger than 50 and still have a fatal heart attack. I used to work with someone who had several heart attacks at 30.

Cops in the neighborhood? O my God. I'd check to see if he had some donuts jamed
    down his throat

My guess is he shot a blood clot to his brain while swimming. The splash was not from
him diving into the pool, it was from him trying to stay afloat. He sank to the bottom in
a few seconds, and was brain dead when he hit bottom.

Never thought about an aneurism. That's a real strong possibility. After all he had the holy snot pounded out of him at one time and that's always good for creating a few blood clots. You might just have won the bonus round.
