Made me kind of sad to watch this. I've listened to Glen Campbell since I was a wee little squirt in the early 60s, my dad had all his early albums.

What surprised me most was that he still has a strong voice.

      Me too Steve,

I have so many childhood memories that include his music as my dad was a big fan too.

The first one that came to mind was out in the aluminum row boat fishing on the lake with dad singing like a rhinestone cowboy, and me telling him to shush, he was going to scare all the fish away!

      Very sad indeed.

      Terra

      • Some, but not many folks may remember Glen wasn't always a "Rhinestone Cowboy"...
he was also a "Beach Boy" (as well as one of the best studio musicians around)

He was part of a group of (infamous) studio musicians that became known as "the Wrecking Crew".[9] During this period he played on recordings by Bobby Darin, Rick Nelson, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, The Monkees, Nancy Sinatra, Merle Haggard, Jan and Dean[8], Elvis Presley[10], Frank Sinatra and Phil Spector.[9]

From December 1964 to early March 1965, Campbell was a touring member of the Beach Boys, filling in for Brian Wilson.[11] He also played guitar on the group's Pet Sounds album, among other recordings. On tour, he played bass guitar and sang falsetto harmonies.

I don't even know what to say. Grew up with him. It's just so sad.

Oops! - sorry...didn't watch the video (saw the tribute a few months back)

I was just relieved to see he hadn't died!

Which Senate committee shall I head next?

I remember watching his show back in the 60's and 70's. I had no idea he played guitar for Frank Sinatra, wow.

It's sad to see someone fade away with Alzheimers, I know of a few people who had it. It's terrible on the family.

              Head or behead?

PS...Glen's daughter is really pretty and I like how she protects her dad. Seems like a great kid.

It looks like with all the originals gone, we're losing the next generation. I am really not a fan of country and remember his movies best - True Grit was the one I remember him in best.

Loved His '70s TV show, The "Goodtime Hour". Watched it with my Dad, as well as his many appearances on Mike Douglas and Donnie and Marie.

    Alzheimers SUCKS!

Tragic, wasting disease. My wifes dad just died from complications from it yesterday.
Yup. On Fathers day. Sucks out loud. Its actually a blessing he passed. He was a Brilliant, thoughtful, resourceful Man. If he had any cognizance of what his mind degenerated too, and the (lack of) quality of life in his final years, he would not of wanted to live that way.
Don't think anyone would. All that gives us solace is he was deliriously and incomprehensibly HAPPY! Go figure...
