Hi Warriors,
Need help, not toooo important.

Sitting here chilling having a beer, the girlfriend is "the keeper of the remote control" watching "girl stuff" (no macho way to dress the reality up)

I have just fired up my laptop put on headphones and hit YouTube to put some sounds on but came to a blank.

What Do I Listen To?

Coming from Ireland/UK I was watching the highlights of the Isle of White Festival and as well as that there were some great past bands on other channels.

Now The Question Is Where Do I Start.

Either with or without the I.O.W influence my choice to start (until I hear better) with are, in no order
  • Big Country
  • The Smith
  • Jethro Tull
  • Jimi Hendrix (Isle of White, come on)
  • The Who
  • lynyrd Skynyrd
  • Still Little Fingers
  • Neil Young
I know as suggestions come in my mind will change.

My music taste does not reflect my age as I have followed music past and present all my life and all genres.

I am Starting with Neil Young-powderfinger

Come on Kim, Steven and anyone to inspire me.

Thanks
Peter

      Thanks Thom,
Although even with some great bands mentioned YouTube has given us Ourish access to bands outside Ireland.

Only joking Thom, your views are always appreciated, some great bands I did really forget about.

As Irish lyrics go Christy Moore And Shane Magowan Have to be some of the best at present.

I took a real change and started with The Specials- Monkey Man, it reminded me of Amy's version.

      Thanks Thom

With the selection you gave I'd say you can't go wrong whereever you start.
However, I think I would start with Tull, or The Who

You mentioned Jimi Hendrix. I once had a telemarketing job that would have been 100% horrid except for the entertainment provided by co-workers, including a relative of Jimi Hendrix (once a performer himself -- a singer -- but had basically retired from that for health reasons).

Reel Big Fish is a nice change once in a while, but then add some Clash, like London Calling, and of course,
Chrissie rocks with the best,so toss some Pretenders in their, which would lead me to her ex lover, Ray Davies,so some Kinks would maybe be good too.

Hope this helps rock your night !

How about some early, kinda punky Blondie - from the Blondie and Plastic Letters albums. Maybe chuck in a bit of Deacon Blue or Del Amitri, Renaissance for the prog rock element and some Green Day. And the Darkness for a bit of fun.

And for something completely different, try this lot:

We can go a different route Peter.
How about the 5 currently in my CD player.
        Little Feat (Waiting for Columbus)
Bela Fleck and the Flectones (Three flew over the Cuckoos Nest)
Willie Nelson ( Willie and Family Live)
Bloodhound Gang (One fierce Beer Coaster)
        Frank Zappa (Sheik Yer Bouti)
        In Queue after those are.
        Reverend Horton Heat (Space Heater)
        Jimmy Buffet (Feeding Frenzy)
        ELP (Tarkus)
        Wyclef John (Carnival)
        Rusted Root (When I woke)
Old and in the Way (Breakdown)
Black Oak Arkansas (Raunch and Roll)
        Hank Williams Jr. (Hank Live)

          Damn Thom!
Those could've come straight out of my CD player.
Not sure about the Bela Fleck, however.
His old stuff is great but, the last I heard from (about 15 years ago)
          Wasn't.
And, it probably be A1A instead of Feeding Frenzy.

The Bella Fleck CD is from 93
A1A is a great album also, but being a Parrot Head I got to say I like them all

I'll check out the Bela Fleck.
But, I gotta say, as a fellow Parrot Head, I think Jimmy
kinda fizzled out after Havanah Day Dreamin'.
Not that the other stuff is bad, just sayin'..

Are you looking for something different that you might not have heard of before? If so, you might try these:

    Joe Bonamassa
    The David Samuel Project
    Charlie Wheeler Band
    Seventh Key
    Dr. Will & The Wizards

If you want something completely different:

    Agnostic Mountain Gospel Choir
    Sassparilla
    Markus James
    Slidin Slim
    Tri Atma

If you want some older stuff:

    Savoy Brown
    Ten Years After
    Wishbone Ash
    Mahogany Rush
    Blue Oyster Cult
    Signature

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

    Hey guys,

Awesome suggestions, I listened to some great bands (using your suggestions) and even "the morning after" I am still going through some great vids.

@thom great list, some I knew and forgot about and some "new ground" to explore

To everyone else., keep them coming as I am finding loads of new stuff.

P.s. Real time snapshot- I have The Stranglers playing in the background.
