How do you bypass Squid internet filter?

Our college uses Squid to block sites I've come to know. Does anyone knows how to bypass this?

The college goes out of the way to restrict internet access (Shall I tell you I'm studying Information Technology, which I presume exists because of the internet). There is no internet access on most of the computers (except for one in every lab which the faculty uses). We get around that by MAC spoofing. But, then again a lot of the websites are blocked (And no I'm not talking about Facebook).

Does anyone know how to bypass this. Well, one way is to use proxy sites but we are running out of them. They are blocking these voraciously. And it's a pain to find new ones on Google.

I'll tell you what we've got. There is Linux installed on most of the machines. I also have linux on my bootable drive all the time. So, yes I have access to linux all the time. Would using tor solve this?

Sumit.

    WRONG! The internet exists because of IT! IT predates the internet, as known today, by at least about 50 years! The guy that created the WWW was basically in an IT department! The guys that created C and UNIX were in an IT department. HECK, the guy that wrote LINUX was studying IT.

    They may eventually switch to a WHITE LIST and THEN where would you be? There would be NO way to bypass it without hacking THAT machine which might not even be allowed.

      Nevermind. Probably the reason I'm not studying history.

      I doubt they'll switch to a WHITE LIST. Even if they do, what could I do until then?

      @Jody - I'll check that out.

        buy your own dedicated proxies.

        then it will last longer if your the only one using it....getting free ones from
        websites is just asking to be caught with your hand in the cookie jar

        not to mention they can grab the same list you can, and do a batch style
        preemptive strike.

    If people keep pushing them, as you are, they will simply reverse the filters.

    They will figure that they can't determine which of the BILLIONS of sites you CAN'T see, so they will block EVERYTHING, and decide a few that you CAN.

      Yeah, that should work. But, we only have to access the internet, very rarely. Even with dedicated proxies we would still have to spoof the MAC. If we do that enough, they are gonna notice eventually and then we're screwed. So, we don't do it that much. But, when the proxy sites are blocked, it takes another 10-15 minutes to find something that isn't which kinda gets frustrating.

      Now, I'm not gonna spend money on something that I'm gonna use maybe 3-4 times a month.
