I could always use a good laugh.

I wasn't a fan ( and not a detractor ) of any of Chucks' TV work but his roast on CC give me an insight into his comedic mind.

As far as he's concerned, he has ridden out his latest professional and personal storm and he has emerged "unscathed"

I'll give the show a try!

I'll search for it and record it. I like to record stuff and watch it later and zip through the commercials.

It was OK. It's definitely better than Two and a half men with Kutcher but I'm not ready to pop popcorn and call friends over to watch it with me. Hs still has his old comedic timing which does puts you in the mind of Charlie Harper but we'll see.

If nothing else it gives me something to do until Suits comes on at 10.

He's not going to start wearing 'Cosby' sweaters now...is he? :p

I couldn't figure out if that was even before a live studio audience or not, because the laughter seemed so timed and canned...but I will give it a shot and a chance at a unique character development.

Let's look at the "Mad-libs" of today's "sitcom" outlines: (just fill in the blanks!)

Hi, I'm a divorced father whose job is (____ ), who has a really cute but acerbic ex-wife (____ ) and really precocious, but developmentally disabled kid(s) :rolleyes:

"Join me for 30 (22) minutes each week, as I try to sort out the 'trials and tribulations' of my crazy life!"

No offense Charlie...but at least "Wilfred" - the show that is on after you, is trekking into new territory of psychotic comedy...and not just some watered-down 'anger management'.

Did anyone watch Brand X? I've had my fill of Russell Brand so I wasn't ready to jump on that show.

Wilfred is definitely out there...

If this "Ted" movie gets really popular, we'll probably see someone trying to take a shot at that too...:rolleyes: (like ALF, only with a 'Bahsten' accent! :p)

I like Louie, he is always breaking new ground too...like Wilfred, he is not just "digging up old bones" and peeing on the bushes

(although I wouldn't put him past it :rolleyes

Russell Brand, in that time slot, is up against Jon Stewart - that is going to be a tough sell -

Louie is a hard call for me.
I'm a firm believer that a good comic doesn't have to do blue material,and it seems like he splits his show in half that way,always an obscene,imo,bit and the rest with actually funny stuff.

The scene with his girlfriend going from asking whats wrong and Louie saying "nothing,I'm just tired" to her calling the whole relationship off was a classic.

His onstage routine could have been left out completely.

Me too, Kim. And Louie is talented enough that he doesnt have to go to the gutter. Prolly has to keep the "edge" on for his demographics.

Back to Charlie, I did not see the show, Is the plot same as the awesome Nicholson/Sandler movie? And does it have canned laughter? that is a deal breaker imo. I have to make an exception for Big Bang Theory for the canned crap, mainly cause I'm distracted by Kaley Cucou

I was ready to give this show a shot but I heard very mediocre reviews on it so maybe i'll just wait it out a bit and see if it finds its legs. It is hard to enjoy shows with a laugh track these days as many comedies tend to break away from that technique.

I haven't seen the show either. We don't have a TV at home. For me, the show is people's reactions to the show.
