I have ruled out the non stick pans! First of all they are just very mildly no stick and the thing comes off too easy. Ceramic was another consideration but now I learn that if not properly sealed, the lead connecting the ceramic with the pan can leak.

Where should I fry my steaks?

Steaks should never be fried. Yuk!

Where's the best place to cook your steaks?

Why on the grill of course!

    That's a no-brainer, lol!

But if you can't grill, use a cast iron pan. Buy one now and your grandchildren will still be using it,if properly taken care of.

They may even still be using it if their parents neglect them, but in that case they may be using it to attack each other ...

Cast iron, definitely - or grill. Frying a steak doesn't bother me in the least as long as the inside is still pink. I'm not really that much of a steak eater. I used to live on the boundary of lottery hunting area and those hunters had my fridge full of wild meat all the time. My dog was eating venison and elk for dinner most nights. Of course, Blitz was the guy that would go drag their butts back to camp when they got lost, so we earned it. But after that wild meat anything that's not organic just doesn't taste the same.

I now prefer induction except for stir fying in a wok, everything else induction not only cleaner but quicker.
