Have anybody ever go to a take-out place or other retail establishment and when they gave you a receipt or the one to put a signature on, you saw your full number on them?

Open for anyone handling them to see.

Most usually have asteriks as numbers and only the last 4 digits of the number on the paper.

You would think in this age of identity theft , companies would be more safeguarding.

The establishments that I know do this, I either don't use a card and use cash or simply dont go.

I was thinking of calling or emailing someone in the company to complain, but I dont know if it would do anygood.

I don't want to talk to some company politician or corporate suck-*** who would simply put my inquiry in the round file.

I've never been to one that didn't star/asterisk out the majority of the numbers. That is very concerning because, as you mentioned, identity theft is huge nowadays.

I'd definitely lodge a complaint to someone. It only takes one person for a change to be made and who knows, maybe you wouldn't be the first to have an issue with it. Can't hurt to try.

      Are you sure?

On the reciept they give you, its usually blocked out, but on their two copies, sometimes I see it on paper.

Ok now you've got me worried as I can't say for positive that I even have looked at their copy. Generally the one they give you is a carbon copy of the original to where your signature comes thru - if it's blank on the carbon that means it's blank on the top copy.

Pocket sized credit card scanners are widely available. All it takes is a waiter to scan your credit card when they are processing your bill. For Internet and phone purchases, they do not even need to know your credit card signiture for the order to go through.

That is why we always gets nervous whenever a bill has been processed for a very long time at a restaurant. We are especially carefully whenever we go on holiday abroad.

I'm am thinking about a "Pre-Paid Credit Card", so if it is stolen, only the limit amount can possibly be stolen.

Or it has a temporary date, and expires, limited timed use.

      Not sure.
