Web hosting

I'm looking for a quality web hosting, preferably a cheaper version. I'm okay with a shared server, as I'm going to host only one Wordpress site.

What would be your recommendations, and why?

  • I recommend Godaddy for hosting your website. Because it never fails to deliver excellent services and the prices are very reasonable compared to the other hosting companies.

    • That's just a list of web hosting companies that have affiliate programs.

You are a spammer and you should feel bad.
      • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • Heres three I like:

MediaLayer--Its awesome service and speed but expensive for the limited amount of server resources.

HawkHost--Its pretty good and very cheap. Awesome coupon and some info at Hawk Host

HostGator--Great speed and support. I've listed coupons and info here

A major advantage of all three of these hosts is that you can pay for one month at a time for a reasonable price.

If you're looking for really cheap, HawkHost is a good bet and will probably provide enough resources for your site.
  • I recently starting using HawkHost too and have had no problems so far. Also check out Webhostinghub for low cost hosting.
  • Curious to know which company you decide to go with to host your Wordpress site. Also I wish you the best of luck in your search
  • If you want best hosting plan so I think you should choose VPS hosting plan which are very good for you..
  • If you're looking for shared hosting, I've yet to find a better provider than StableHost in terms of price, speed, and quality customer service.

If at some point you decide you need a VPS, I've had great experiences with both WiredTree and Liquid Web, of which I prefer the latter.

Note: None of the links above are affiliate links. I don't actively promote any of these companies, these are just the ones I've had the best experiences with. For what it's worth, I'm not a fan of GoDaddy.

  • Hostgator or the site in my signature (if you like instant solutions). Definitely NOT GoDaddy!
  • Check out these HostGator offers if they work for you. I have found them very cheap.

    1- HUCOUPON25 (25% off on any order)

    2- GATOR10DOLLAROFF ($10 off on hosting)

    3- GATOR25DOLLAROFF ($25 off on reseller account)

    4- HUCOUPON25 (25% off on hosting order)

    All the best.
  • Web Hosting Talk - The largest, most influential web hosting community on the Internet is going to be your best source for web hosting reviews, NOT a "top web hosting companies" site. They are the top paying affiliates.

90% of people here will tell you HostGator. A lot of people like HostGator, a lot of people will also tell you their shared/reseller environments are extremely overloaded.

Stay away from EIG brands, as they are unfortunately poor performing.

Unlimited disk space/bandwidth does not exist. I'd suggest staying away from it. You will find buried in their TOS that you're limited by inodes, which ultimately limits your disk space.

You want a host that is performance minded and security focused.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

    • LOL, yes. You've noticed that too?

"HOSTGATOR IS THE BEST HOST EVAR!!!" is a meme that is widespread among the internet marketing community. I think it has its roots in the fact that a lot of the top "Gurus" back in the day used to heavily promote Hostgator (through their affiliate program) to n00bs. It seems like every eBook I purchased 10 years ago or more had a "recommendation" for HostGator at the end.

  • I use Hostmonster and find them ok. My sites are a bit slow sometimes but might be because I'm in Australia and they are in America.

I think any Cpanel hosting will be ok, from HM, Hostgator, etc. They are cheap and well-known. You could also Google "best web hosting" etc. and check some reviews.

  • I am considering moving from Godaddy. I have run into issues with plugins and their scripting support. I like the service otherwise. But it is becoming a growing concern.

    • Now I bet you're even more confused as to who to host with. :p
    • Definitely move your sites off of Gdaddy hosting.
  • Go daddy has disappointed me to no end. Thanks for all the suggestions.
  • Hostgator. Definitely.
  • Lol, so many mixed answers, though no offense, but I'm more interested in those that are a bit controversial: mojojuju and Kingfish85. I'm gonna use Kingfish85's advice and move over to that site to get more opinions.

So far, though, I'm liking what Hostgator offers. Although, what Damien Kring suggested looks very nice as well - StableHost. The "Stable" plan doesn't seem half bad, in fact, it doesn't seem much different from HostGator. I'm just wondering if there is a way to test their performance, apart from pinging of course, which is a funny way of testing it in the first place.

  • Dont be confused with so many sites.
Just try once cloudclaim.com where you can get the best service,in a low price and more satisfaction
  • i recommend funio (iweb.com before split up) i have 3x accounts with them including an 80GB website (2 million+ files) and i am very happy with the performance. i tolerate the fact that sometimes they answer the support tickets in french (canadian company)

Whichever hosting company you get i advice you
    1. stay away from godaddy
    2. stay away from any other provider which have the database laywer in a seperate machine than the application (web server) layer. this is the reason godaddy and some others are so slow.
