How to block audio ads please?

Couldn't think of a better forum to post this in so thought to post this thread here, hopefully somebody here can help me?

A couple of times this evening for the first time ever, once whilst looking at a Youtube video and the 2nd time just now whilst editing some code on my copywriting website... sound just suddenly burst out of my speakers giving me a near heart attack as I leapt about 4' up in the air in fright.

A blinkin' ad for some washing powder of all things. The message itself was fairly garbled. Not the faintest foggiest clue why this is happening or where the audio ads are being generated from. All I know is, I just now veritably almost jumped out of my skin at 4am in the morning.

You know what's like, there you are engrossed in your work and suddenly this thing 'yells' out at you - buy this now. 'No! piss off ya stoopid friggin' wanker, ya just near caused me to near *hit my pants ya great goofball.'

Any ideas please how I can put a stop to this happening again?

In advance, thanks for your help!

Warmest regards,

Get some external speakers you can turn off. This is getting to be POPULAR. I feel like STRANGLING the people that send them out, etc... Some are on poorly designed pages and set to go off when you move the cursor near them.

Yeah, l had my headphones on and was finding some popular music videos, on a site associated with Youtube, then before the video played l was blasted by some stupid Vodka ad.

Typical Google, they buy YouTube and stuff it up with stupid ads that wake up the dead, and run around crippling videos, because the creator, did some silly thing, that got Google on a witch hunt!

Maybe they should have warnings on their videos, that listening to these ad's may damage your hearing!

Thank God they didn't get their claws into Facebook, image what a mess that would be!

Although l should say, what more of a mess it would be!

And a word of warning, don't leave Skype on, after Firefox crashes, otherwise in half an hour, your computer will start to make a warning sound. Which is a dodgy ad for some defragging software; you know, your computer will explode and you have 1000 errors, so buy this, crap!

Just ran ComboFix, Advanced System Care Pro and CCleaner, hopefully one of those programs will catch it whatever it is that's causing it.

Any other suggestions are welcome though.

        Thanks,

Have you installed any new software lately? Seems to be a lot of it infested with ad-ware, which could certainly cause ads to come out of nowhere.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

I did install one piece of software, now deleted. Also download a new antivirus program replacing the old one and also just installed Malwarebytes.

Now running a full antivirus scan and MWB, almost 8 hours in and they're still scanning the system.

Thanks Dennis for trying to help, it's appreciated.

Mark, I've come across the same thing. I didn't have any malware, spyware, nor any viruses.

With that, I decided on Adblock. It does a good job and is available for just about all platforms. It is also very user friendly and flexible.

    Adblock

    Best of luck to you!
