Desmond Luke Albert

We call him Baby Des for now.

Before you ask, he was born 9 days early and weighed 7 lbs, 14 oz and was 21 inches long.

I will post a couple more pics hopefully tomorrow.

Funny story about that long labor...

After two hours of pushing trying to deliver, my daughter just announced to everyone she was done, had enough. She proceeded to tell the doctor and nurses that if they wanted the baby to be born, they would have to either reach in and pull him out or surgically remove him. Not even her hubby could convince her to keep on going.

I talked to her, 3 different nurses came in to try and coach her through. Nothing doing!

Then they brought in their secret weapon, the fourth nurse. I think they borrowed her from a military boot camp or something, lol!

Anyway, she got up in my daughter's face and said...

Listen up! There is a little baby trying to enter into the world! Your baby! Without your help, he can't! He is depending on you, his very life is depending you and you alone, nobody can help him but you!

Now, with your next contraction, you are going to push harder than you have before and you are going to deliver that baby right into my awaiting hands! Do you understand me?

My daughter's eyes got huge and she said Yes, Maam!

Next contraction, she shot my grandson out like a bullet in just one push, lol!

I agree, his skin is so perfect too, not all red and blotchy and bumply. He's strong too, he's lifting up his little head already when he hears another voice and tries to look that way!

He's amazing!

I know what you mean about the suitcase!

Tomorrow hubby and I are celebrating our 29th anniversary by taking a riverboat cruise and I'm getting all teary eyed thinking about not seeing Baby Des tomorrow.

Then I thought what about when we have to leave to come back home Friday night?

I think I'm getting a taste of "parting is such sweet sorrow"

But on a happier note, we found out that my son-in-law has applied for a position at U of M Flint campus for the same position he has here at North Western University.

He's had two interviews via Skype and has completed two projects they requested. They're just waiting to find out if he got the job and should know within 2 weeks.

They're trying to come back home to Michigan. Hurray!

Oh, if everyone could give a little prayer, cross fingers, send good thoughts, whatever works best for ya...I'd certainly be overjoyed and thankful!
