I had my appendix out once. In China. In a local Chinese hospital. It sucked.

    Yeah, Asians always seem to have a rough time with hemorrhoids. My parents in law (Chinese) are in constant pain from them. I think you guys eat too much rice. Need a bit more fiber in that diet.

    I had my appendix out once.
    I'm fairly certain you can do that only once.

    I had a few when I was little (before the age of eight) in attempt to correct a genetic defect, but they couldn't so they gave up. It's not the surgery that's so bad, but the recovery.

      There is a saying that there is no minor eye surgery. My most scary and life changing operation was LASIK correction for shortsightedness. It is an extremely short procedure but it could ruin your life if something goes wrong. In fact, something went wrong with mine. I was left seeing occasional double vision in the L eye in 2003. In fact, it was only beginning to understand and measure the defect responsible then. The defect introduced was called "high order abbe rations" or "irregular astigmatism". It took 4 years before an approved treatment was available and it was one of the scariest moments of my life. Luckily, I went through and recovered from it completely.

    I had one. I had my tubes cut when they told me I had to get off the pill. It was pretty simple. I was home the same day but slept most of that and the next day. By the second day after, I felt all good to go.

    I had my big toe nails removed when i was younger, i had to stay in bed for a month with big plaster casts on both feet. Very painfull..

    My tonsils also grew back so I know it can happen.

    I have had cataract surgery, 2 lots of glaucoma surgery, 2 lots of tonsil surgery, 3/4 of my stomach and all of my spleen removed, wisdom teeth removed, most of my other teeth removed (no thanks to an incompetent dentist and diabetes, 2 lots of ingrown toenails done and various tests such as a bone marrow biopsy ( more painful than any surgery), gastroscopies, colonoscopies and I think that was all..... so far anyway. More than enough.

    That's certainly not the everyday reason for removing an appendix: I'm sure suction is a rare problem to have with one. (I hope you got something better than "acupuncture anesthesia"?).
