What is your motivation for becoming wealthy?

Mine is:
  1. Location independence
  2. Comfort
  3. Freedom
  4. It would be easier to help others more
  5. Probably other reasons that I cannot think of right now

I can't say that I ever wanted to be "wealthy", but I DID want to have enough for a reasonable retirement. I guess the reasons are much like you've listed.

They keep changing the rules, or talking about plans to change the very fabric of reality, and have shown that they might. So what is wealthy? Millions of dollars? Billions? Trillions? 10s of Trillions?

At this point, if I had 10s of trillions NOW, I might feel OK. But nobody, to the best of my knowledge, has that much. at the current rate, in 100 years or so, the average income may be effectvely then worth 10s of trillions of dollars BUT, if I lived so long, I would want a quintillion dollars. FUNNY for a guy that 20 years ago thought that a few hundred thousand would be plenty, HUH!?

so that I can have the freedom to travel as I choose, and to be able to help others. I would rather do unpaid volunteer work where I can really make a difference, than paid work where I am a number...... Getting there slowly

Wow! I imagine that that would be one of the most motivating experiences! I can only visual the fruits of wealth to motivate me. I can't recall past memories of it.

1/ Build a middle-of-nowhere property to "get off the grid" for my friends, family and anyone like-minded.
2/ Make millions to build companies and charities that do real good in the world (that needs lots of capital for political buying power).
3/ Spend more time on important things, less time on "work/job/career"

Hard question, I don't really know what motivates me so much, I just have to do something, and be good at it. If i'm not doing something, I feel like i'm wasting time.

Bills, pay for food, that kind of thing.

MariusJ, I hear you. I'd like to get off the grid too, but without being on a commune (been there, done that. It sucks)

For no particular reason. Really. I always wanted to be rich since I was a child and I never doubt that I won't be. Let's see.

I don't think that I ever saw it as the way to make killer money. I just see money as an itch. It's got to be scratched, so I may as well scratch it now, make enough to get it out of the way, and then just focus on enjoying the ride. But trial and error can be rewards in their own right as you really get to learn about people along the way.

Peace of mind that I can live how I want and where I want. I aim to be in a space where I'm not only comfortable and free from worry but also, where everything I do is passion based and inspired rather than obligational and in the way.

For me motivation for becoming wealthy is to be happy at the work we are doing and should be friendly with all our surrounding people.

Everyone thinks that money will buy you freedom, and while it's true to some extent, you get so carried away, that the commitments just build up anyway. Different commitments, but commitments all the same...

Freedom without the worry of spending money. So long as I get what I want I suppose that's considered wealthy. Good insight!

I have no motivation to become wealthy. My main motivation for gaining wealth is to give it away. So, if I become wealthy, then I've probably lost my motivation.
