        Hey Shane mate

Remember that post I made in the thread prior to the start where I said we were all hoping it would go wrong so we could all say 'I knew that would happen...' but if it did turn out all right we would be telling the whole world how we do it better than everyone else?

        Well guess what?

Amazing show. Russel Brand done a great job of "I am the walrus". I loved that fact "The Who" have still "got it". Old Rog hasn't lost his voice at all. Massive success.
Was a little surprised that Robbie Williams didn't perform.

Yep, that's true, but after l watched the recording of the live closing ceremony, there was a tiny technical glitch. It was almost at the end there, someone was singing in the white Mercedes, driving around the stadium and the tv screen suddenly showed a test screen and then showed a camera man plunging his or her camera into the stadium floor!

They quickly jumped to another camera, but for a second or two it got scary!

But compared to China, yours was flawless, a small camera glitch, is much better than a large pillar, not going up when it is supposes to, and l won't mention the Sydney glitches!

But overall, Britians should be prowd! The Chinese closing ceremony, almost put me to sleep, but this one didn't falter, even at the end!

  • You Lads and Lass must have gotten the raw feed - as usual in the states, NBC sucks again...(jmo) - they broke into the end on the west coast, played a stupid new sitcom NBC must think is "hilarious" (it wasn't), and an hour later...showed the ending...

Closing Ceremony cuts cause outrage | Fourth-Place Medal - Yahoo! Sports
NEW YORK (AP) — Viewers were incensed Sunday night when NBC cut away from the Olympics' conclusion to air a sitcom featuring a monkey.

btw: Wth was all that gear on the pet shop boys? - what was the theme "one hit wonders"?

And that kid singing "Wish you were here"? Where was Roger? WTF?
    They played Bowie...where was Bowie?

And I dunno Bravo, Daltry is getting a little long in the tooth - even he admits he hasn't got the great chops he used to ...Pete either (but they were good) - but I still luv em'... (I just hope I die before I get old :rolleyes

It does still crack me up though, that the planning committee sent Moonie an invite

The kid was Ed Sheeran. The Pet Shop Boys were wearing outfits by British designer Gareth Pugh, but they're no strangers to odd costumes. Don't get your one-hit-wonder comment, as everyone in the parade has had several to numerous hits in the UK (except Russell Brand of course).

Honestly, Lynn -I did not recognize this song at all - the West End Girls girls came out 25 yrs ago in 86'...I don't really know much about them after that, so that was my "1 hit wonder", but it is apparent they must have had more...

Even that boy band has more than one hit? 'one direction'?

With those funny hats on, for a moment, I thought they were Devo...

Even that boy band has more than one hit? 'one direction'?

You guys got the whole show, where all we got was a mish mash - that stupid Ryan Seacrest even said it was Eric Idle in the cannon before he took off the helmet - that was supposed to be the big surpriser of it

You guys got lucky...you didn't to watch the new NBC 'sitcom' (it's got a capuchin monkey starring in it)

I wanted to see Ray Davies and The Who...all we got was a monkey!

Good grief, I'd (thankfully) forgotten Devo. Once for the "haven't heard this music in ages" thread!

The boy band are on a roll, believe it or not, hordes of screaming fans both sides of the pond

So...I'm guessing NBC won't be covering the next Olympics?

I think we did a good job, very entertaining, even if some of the choices of performers were a bit strange. One thing I would like to know is why is everything spoken in French first?

The IOC modern Olympic games originated in France - hence the first language used is French...

French is a pretty widely spoken language, too. It is taught in a lot of eastern countries so a lot of people that are not really familiar with English will still understand French - Plus Canadians, and most Europeans. I'd say French has close to as many speakers as English.

I'm sorry I missed the ending. I don't really watch competitions - even Olympics. That sounds like a show I might have really enjoyed though.

Not for nothing but that sitcom with the monkey is 1000x more interesting than the opening or closing ceremonies this Olympics provided.

Spice Girls on TV again.. WHY?? The Who = awesome and I appreciate that. But all of the other crap I could have completely done without in lieu of a Page/Plant jam of some sorts.. You know they'd suck it up for a night on stage at the Olympics.
