Are you a doctor or other medical professional? What qualifies you to make that kind of diagnosis? If it's just your opinion and you're not a qualified medical professional, then be careful about planting ideas in people's head, especially if this person looks up to you. They could stew and fret and worry themselves into more sickness if they took your comment to heart. If you must say something, at least try to find a better way to say it. That's my two cents.

I wasn't considering marketing at all. I was thinking along the lines of friendship or a relative. I suggested finding a better way to say it, and I think Hey Sal hit the nail on the head by saying "weak" instead of "bad." The word "bad" has too many dire connotations to it. Suggesting their immune system is weak and could use a little boost is a better way to go, IMO.

        Good luck!

Actually - I don't think it takes a medical degree to know that is someone is sick all the time their immune system could use a boost. If they are sick all the time you'd think they might just have figured that out by now? Duh.

It's not like you have given them advice about why it is weak. That takes some extra knowledge.

Use "weak" instead. Tell them they need to strengthen their system. It's not so scary nor does it sound quite so hopeless.

You could say the same thing in a positive way.

Like: " I am concerned about you because you really get sick a lot. Maybe you should take some vitamins and get more rest"

(this is common knowledge and does not require a medical degree)

But yeah - 'bad' is not the way to say it.

I would tell the person to go see a doctor to see why they are always sick. Might be something simple as needing a proper diet or something a specialist needs to look at.
