Hi,

OK, getting back into play dough, now that my little granddaughter is growing up. Can't recall any homemade recipes for some similar type of clay (like where you use corn starch, food coloring and so on, maybe...)

So if anyone has any recipe that works well with youngsters and doesn't mind sharing, thanks in advance!

Play Dough recipe - Best Recipes

lot of recipes show up in google

I tried several years ago but none were as good as the playdoh in a can. I don't think the commercial product is unsafe - my kids used it (and probably ate it) for years and they grew up just fine.

    have fun!

Thanks, Kay! Yep, I was trying to find some that people use themselves, those tried and loved recipes, so if anyone does have one that they know works for their kids / grandkids, etc. that would be great.

      Thanks!

Here's a link that shows how to make dough from baking soda and corn starch.
I've used the recipe several times. It's great for school projects. If it starts drying out just add a little water to it. You can add food color or paint to make different colors. It's really cheap and easy to make and it washes out of fabric (depending on what you use to color it with) and it doesn't hurt to eat it. (Doesn't taste very good.)

We just used to use flour, salt, and water and it worked just fine. I always liked the smell of the canned stuff for some reason though.

I can't recall tasting it, but I do remember the smell. It's like remembering those pages that teachers used to copy off that hand-cranked copying machines at:
