So, a few months ago i decided it would be a good idea to get my son a small aquarium for his room. I ended up getting him a 10G setup for about $100 and all was well.

4 Months later....

I have 4 Aquariums ranging from 29G to 115G and all in all i have probably spent close to $5000 on equipment and fish
My wife has been very accommodating when it comes to my almost OCD behavior whenever i tackle a new project/hobby.

I can't leave things alone, when i start something i am constantly tweaking, adding, perfecting until i am satisfied that it's the absolute best i can do.

Anyway...

There is a fellow aquarist locally who is downsizing and he is almost giving tanks and filters away....
I just can't resist a bargain

So i am going to sneak away later today to go and inspect a 155G tank that he is selling. I am probably going add to that $5000 total by buying it along with a few other things

So if you don't see me here for a while it's probable because it was just "one tank to many" and my luck ran out... (LOL)

You could stick a bass in the 155gal and practice your jigging technique...

    Oh wait...!

That might mean a new $20k bass boat....several new rod and reels....fishing trips to the "best" bass lakes in the country...etc.

Better just stick some goldfish in there.

    Sneak away quietly.

If my hubby came home with that, we might have to talk about selling that (and many other items) on craigslist.

I kept a couple of 55 gallon tanks for years. Never set them up after we moved, but they were great fun. I'll probably set them up again one day. One was a saltwater tank. Never again on that ... way too much work. I used to raise cichlids in one tank, and "community" fish in the other before switching it to salt water. I'll probably go back to a cichlid tank and a community tank when I set them up again.

I used to have two parakeets, a dog, a cat and two goldfish. All the fussing and cleaning came to an end as they died off...after a very prolonged period of time. We are back to one pup now, and that is it. I hate cleaning fish tanks, bird cages and cat litter boxes.

One of the fish was so tame it would come to the top to be petted. It was fun while it lasted, but I just don't want to do it again.

Have you thought of where you are going to put all this new equipment?

By the way, there are battery operated fish in enclosed little containers. Just flip the switch and they swim around. They just kind of sink when the battery runs out. Just thought I would mention that if you get relegated to living elsewhere and can't take any broken tanks with you.

Never tried Saltwater just seems to be a hassle, skimmers, sumps, overflow boxes etc.

Used to keep Malawi cichlids but have moved to Tanganyikan exclusively.
I keep Tropheus Moliro, Moba Frontosa and a few Clavus...

PS. Did not get the tank, was raining all day over here.
