    Taking a multi-million dollar pay cut is certainly generous of him, but it doesn't exactly make him a hero either.

    Leno is famous for not spending ANY of the money he's been getting paid from NBC for either The Tonight Show or The Jay Leno Show. Instead, he says he lives off of the millions he makes traveling as a standup and his paychecks from NBC simply go into bank accounts because he views his television career as "temporary." He said in June that he has "always done that." As such, a pay cut of several million dollars a year doesn't affect him at all, it only affects the bank accounts he hasn't touched in two decades.

      Reading comprehension is clearly not your strong suit. His car collection (and everything else he spends money on) is paid for by his lucrative stand up career earnings. This information is widely known and easily verifiable. It's even on his Wikipedia page.

        Yup - like Luke says...I've always been fan of Jay and his collection (unfortunately his show is lacking these days) But yeah, he does not use the NBC dough at all - he just took a cue from Conan, and doing what he thinks is right, keeping the people on his show working - Leno likes expensive cars (and he can more than afford them - see jays garage.com), but he is really a pretty regular guy who just happens to make a lot of money, and his tastes are relatively simple...

        I always thought if I ever got a chance to be on the Tonight Show, I would ask him if he would let me go and see the garage

        I remember him telling a story in his monologue once, about how he was almost late for the show, because he drove over to the valley to get a part for his washing machine, and he got stuck in traffic :rolleyes: ...you're thinking "this guy is a multi-millionaire - wth?? why not just call a repair guy?" because that is not the way he thinks...he likes doing that stuff - it's his hobby - his wife travels all over the world, and he rarely goes, because he travels enough in his "job"... (he goes to a lot of car / bike shows though)

        He also still has all the cars he has ever owned in his collection - even the same one he drove from Boston and slept in when he got to Hollywood to do stand-up...

        You really should check out Jay's Garage - it's fun to see him talk about cars if you're a car guy - he is like a little kid in a candy store...and he can have any candy he wants
