Half of my posts have been deleted?

I went from 51 posts to 26 overnight and I don't really understand why. I didn't get a PM about it or any warning. It's made me really demotivated  Has this happened to anyone else?

Maybe some threads that you had posts in were
    deleted.

By the looks of your posts, you are posting a bunch on short one-liners, i.e. "looks good", "thanks for this" etc. This is frowned upon - trying to reach the 50 post mark by doing so will usually end up with posts being deleted.

I wouldn't be surprised if your post count drops another 10-15 posts.

As IM Headlines mentioned - if you posted in threads that are deleted, your posts are also deleted. It happens, so don't sweat it.

Contribute useful info when posting and you will be okay.

I agree - lots of one line "thanks" and "any reviews" comments.

There is a "thanks" button to use - and if the seller has not posted reviews wait until someone does post a review.

Also, when you are in the paid advertising sections (for hire, WSO, etc), it's not the place to post comments that are not related to a question about the product or a comment after buying the product.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.

Pay attention to rule #5 and try not to be discouraged, post deletion happens to most people from time to time (damn near all of us if you consider thread deletion).

Read, learn and use the thanks button for simple "than yous"

OK, thank you for taking the time to help me with this, I appreciate it. I guess I thought saying something was better than saying nothing at all if someone has contributed something useful, thank you for alerting me to the thanks button.

I will stay away from the paid advertising sections from now on, I will certainly won't post anything in them anyway.

    So many rules to learn....

Nothing wrong with asking questions about a product you are considering buying - just make the questions about the product and relevant.

      You'll figure it out quickly.

Being new and confused is definitely no fun -- been there done that. Kay is right, though. It doesn't take long before you get the hang of it. So just keep with it and learn not to take things too personally. You will get bashed in threads, have posts deleted, all sorts of things, but it's all good in the long run. It can take some thick skin to do business online sometimes.

    Thanks HeySal,

it's good to know that someone else remembers what it's like.

The disheartenment comes from the realisation that asking questions to learn will mean that my posts will continue to be deleted.

Worthwhile posts won't be deleted. Only short, irrelevant posts will be or if you have posted in a thread that has been deleted.

Yup, don't be afraid to ask questions or add relevant comments to threads... more often than not it's the "thanks for the share" or the "good idea" posts that get nixed. Don't stop asking questions or you stop learning (use the search function whenever possible when starting a question thread to see if it's already been covered).

The mods aren't out to "get" anyone but they do want to make sure that user posts are relevant and worthwhile.

BTW it happened to me when I first started out too, then I read the rules (I always save reading the manual for when I just can't figure it out on my own).

Hang in there, tons and I do mean TONS of helpful people here and a lot to learn.

      Enjoy
