RIP Morgan Freeman... - stupid scam? or Advertising genius?

Someone posted this facebook page and at the time of this posting it had nearly a million likes. The only problem is that Morgan Freeman is still very much alive. Whoever made this fanpage now has nearly a million fans. Will this turn into a disturbing trend, or will Facebook bring the hammer down on this activity?

What do you think about it?

I think it's severely sick to announce someone's death when they are still alive. Severely. I would like to see FB ban anyone who pulled off a scam like this.

Sal, I agree 100%
A day or two after getting the Morgan freeman BS,someone posted the same thing about the guy that played Carlton on Fresh Prince Of Bel air.
He is still alive too.

This goes way beyond being a joke of any kind and I think people that do stff like that should get an extended stay at the no key motel.

Oh Gary, to answer your question,if it has a million fans it shows there are at least a million idiots out there willing to spread vicious lies with no regard to the consequences.
It certainly isn't advertising genius.

And while I think FB is too intrusive in most things,I do think they should clamp down on accounts that do things like this.

I know someone that saw a scam that Carol Burnett died the other day, too - seems this is a trending issue. This country is in severe trouble and this sick crap is how people want to waste their time?

I read something the other day about creepy troll spammers misusing the 'Like' button and that it is something they realize now they need to deal with - can't remember if FB or Twit - hate them both and never use them -

So hopefully they will address this issue and a permanent IP address ban would not be enough for whoever is doing the false death notices.

I love Morgan Freeman and I hope he never dies - but he is definitely not God
