I was thinking of buying an iPad, but it might not have everything I need. Now I love the idea of everything it has, but I want more.

I was wondering if you had any idea when they will bring out a tablet that operates in the Windows operating system?

Cheers

Raising a child is akin to knowing you're getting fired in 18 years and having to train your replacement without actively sabotaging them.

^ Windows 8 tablets will go on sale starting on or around October 25. All the major PC makers will have new models out, including Microsoft's own Surface hardware. You'll have your choice of laptops, ultrabooks, tablets, and hybrid tablets that dock with a keyboard to become a laptop... all running Windows 8.

Nice one. Thanks Dan, I'll leave my money until then.

Apple and M/S are like mortal enemies, and not having windows is a selling point. At the current rate, it could be 30 years before they adopt windows. By then, people may be asking M/S if they support unix, etc.... Er, asking AGAIN!

    What more do you need?

I'd have trouble thinking of anything on an ipad that I need!....

I'd like Photoshop, Office, Sublime Text 2 (my preferred text editor), a real browser with all the dev tools like Chrome, Thunderbird for my e-mail...

None of that on the iPad. I'll be able to use it all on my Windows 8 tablet, though. I'm counting the days 'til I can buy one.

I couldn't think of anything more painful than operating Photoshop on a tablet!

I started another thread about this, but all the big storage and back-up companies - Box, Skydrive, Google Drive, Carbonite - don't have the capability to run on the iPad and you can't save work from the iPad onto them.

The only solution I can find is syncing certain apps with Dropbox which is less than I'm looking for. But after reading about them I still feel Apple is the best choice.

Why not just get a laptop for the same price? Windows 8 is pretty usable, from the experience I've had so far. I got it a few months ago and the addition of apps makes it as close to "the best of both worlds" as you can find right now. If you're gonna go Windows, don't bother with a tablet- especially if you'll have to do a lot of typing (emails, proposals, invoices, etc). Just get a laptop. I got a nice Lenovo Thinkpad for about $500 after insurance.

Try waiting for the Surface by Microsoft. It's going to run on Windows 8.
