Dumb Kindle Question

I don't have a Kindle reader,but I know there is an app I can download and read kindle books on my PC.
If I use that app and later get a kindle will I be able to transfer the books on my pc to the kindle?

The Kindle reader automatically syncs your account and shows all the books you've purchased. Then any book you read is synced across all devices (Kindle for PC app, Kindle smartphone app, Kindle reader), so that if you stop reading on page 20 on one device, the other devices will open up to that page.

Now you don't even need the Kindle PC app. If you want, you can read your books in your browser with the Kindle Cloud Reader:

Joe, here's a more advanced question to test your Kindle knowledge: if I read and highlight a few paragraphs on my Kindle Windows App (or Chrome plugin), will they automatically sync with my Kindle e-ink reader?

The new Kindle Paperwhite looks great. I can't wait to get my hands (and eyes!) on one of those babies...

  Yes, the highlights are supposed to sync.
  
  Do they always? Some people have problems getting highlights and notes to sync.

The DRM (digital rights management) settings on some of the books may restrict transfer between some devices.

  Good point. The Kindle app will open PDF files off your hard drive or mobile device, but those won't sync across devices--just your Kindle store purchases.

Dropped my Kindle on the floor a couple of weeks ago. Carpeting with a heavy pad. Never worked again. Of course, it was about six weeks out of warranty.
