Hey guys,

So it's proven the earth is going a lil downhill...
So what are you doing to help the earth?

I'm not doing a whole lot actually
I did install a ground source heat pump which does help a little.
It takes the heat from under the ground and heats the house...pretty cool actually.

It also pays for itself in 4 years

But what are you doing?? Driving less?? Planting more trees??

The US is actually helping a whole bunch!

with gas prices rising so fast,

less people are buying gas and driving less!

I refrained from having children - I use natural cleansers instead of toxins and don't take pharmaceuticals all which leach into the water from our bodies and homes. I pick up trash here and there. I also refuse to use cell phones and other micro-wave devices. That microwave grid is not a good thing in any way shape or form, for you or for the environment. I donate to only animal and environmental charities.

It might not seem like much but each person that cuts the levels of toxins and microwaves helps so much - and it helps your own health, too. And of course - it's just so damned easy. I think it's time to start taking my own bags to the store too - will save oil (takes oil to make plastic) or trees if you prefer paper. Just too much waste in having to use new bags for every store trip.

It's proven that the earth goes in cycles...and that possibly this is just another cycle(a warm cycle). Just like the ice age was a cold cycle in the earth's history.
It's true ice may reform in the artic...and maybe it will...
But i strongly believe it wont. Ice can form great masses in the arttic again.
      But the ozone can't reform.
So that means with more and more harmful UV rays coming in things will obviously warm up more and more.
How much? Who knows...but it will and that is for certain.

I'm not to worried about our environment honestly, because when oil runs out than well have no choice but to not drive our cars...
By the way, for you who don't know we are below half way through our world's oil.
Even the United States government realizes that and acknowledges it.

Sometimes all you gotta do is look at what's happening around you - you don't have to be told everything.

I drive half of what I did a year ago. I didn't deprive myself of having children - but I taught my sons to be aware of the footprints they leave on the earth and they are teaching the same to their sons.

And I walk very, very lightly and don't stomp - don't want to hurt the ground.

                    Allen -

Walking softly has a history for me.

Many of the things I learned about this earth and Mother Nature I learn from my Grandfather who was a smart and prosperous farmer on an 800 acre farm. His weather predicting abilities put meterologists to shame. He rotated crops faithfully, left fields to "rest" each year - and the beef he raised were never fed additives.

My best childhood memories are of things he showed and explained to me.
In a piece of woods on our land there was a small stream totally shaded at one point and moss had grown thickly on the bank. We took off our shoes and walked on the soft, cool moss - but we walked "lightly" so we didn't damage it.

Isn't that the secret of using the earth's resources? Use them as lightly as possible? Leave no more footprints than you must - and do what you can to allow other things such as plants and wildlife their own space to survive.

That's true, Phil - it saves all kinds of trees to pay bills online whenever possible.

Catch 22 is our fault. I don't worry about putting someone out of business if we save trees - there are new energy systems coming about that need good workers. Can't build solar panels and windmills without someone doing the job.

Kay - I don't feel deprived. My decision was not for everyone (um...we need SOME replacement people) but I feel there are a lot more people out there who would be better off and happier if they made the decision I did - and there is always a line of kids needing good homes. I have seen way too many women have children they neither wanted nor could afford and that just isn't right any way you look at it. I always figured if I changed my mind, I'd adopt one. But never did change my mind.

No car, I never owned one. I walk everywhere and use public transport, from planes to rail and busses. No cell phone, no microwave oven. No TV either. I did not insall wifi in the house. I eat organic food whenever possible or at least small farm production, no GM foods.

          Sal -

I totally agree with you about having children. Not everyone wants it - and each person should make her own decision about it. I was lucky that I got two good ones. If I had children that behaved as some of my friends' kids do, I'd be on death row now:rolleyes:

When I lived in Atlanta the news on TV one month was of protesters at an abortion clinic (this was before the bombing there). My son had a good solution. He said "people should just walk out there and hand each one of the protestors an unwanted baby - and tell them every time they come back to protest, they'll get another one".

And before someone here starts playing the abortion card - I'm not for it or against it. The only time it's my business is when it's my body - so save the diatribes.
