Hi;

Someone emailed me and I noticed a ✆ symbol in their email. It appears to be text-based since I can post it anywhere (including here)

Anyone know how to create these or where others can be found?

    You can find more info here:

    http://fsymbols.com/signs/phone/ (This is the one you are showing in your message above.)

    More info:

    Symbols can also be 'dingbats' or may be a special font that has been downloaded from sites such as http://www.dafont.com/search.php?q=symbols

    Delta,

    Computers have a fixed number of bits. So the number of potential combinations is NOT limited to what is needed. In fact, Ascii(the first logical code used to relay characters) ended up taking less than 127 chars! I mean you have a 26 char alphabet, so 52 chars, allowing for case, 78 allowing for control characters(following the alphabet), 10 for numbers, 1 for null, and that leaves 39 for all the special characters. Too many are left! And then you have the other 128 characters, when you use the bit. So what they did was fill the standard code. You can't expect them to work EVERYWHERE. SURE, many use microsofts windows enhanced latin, but to others it may look like garbage.
