Anyone know any tutorials or a website that offers something like notepad++ but for inside your webpage?
I would love to have a notepad on our site that not only could our employee's see and use, but the customers can watch as well.
(if you are unaware of notepad++ google it, its a lot more details and clean cut then just notepad)

  • Not quite sure what you mean there. What's "inside your webpage" is source code, and Notepadd++ is for editing source code. Or did you mean something like Firebug, where you can see any changes you make to the source code "on the fly"?

    • Something of that sort, but more towards notepad++ style, where it will have the colours and spacing.

(so most likely a php script)
  • Well, you COULD have a text area and it could be like a cheap version of notebook. There IS a REALLY nice editor written in javascript. I forget the name, but you can probably find it, or something better. IT is like a cheap version of WORD. It allows like search/replace, fonts, character attributes, etc... It is actually to AUGMENT the text area Idea I spoke of earlier. It is really the only way to add that much functonality such that you can use it all througout a website, and not use a java applet. PHP is a SERVER technology, so you can't really use IT. You COULD have AJAX, which is more complicated, or server activated responses which is a compromise, but otherwise, NOPE!

I don't know WHY they called it javascript or whatever. Java and javascript are very different languages.
