Most Ridiculous Reason To Lose A Friendship?

For me, it was when my best friend, Rollie Fisher, was run over and killed by a drunk driver. I don't think it gets any more ridiculous than that.

I'm really sorry. The other meaning of "lose" didn't occur to me. I'm changing "friend" to "friendship".

Theres a big difference between a friend and an acquaintance - real friends celebrate your successes and encourage you to the best expression of yourself.

The most ridiculous reasons to lose friends generally revolve around ego - the need to be right.

In my own experience it was in those instances when I wasn't able to communicate or understand what had happened in a relationship - yep, gets down to effective communication as well.

I lost a good friend because her sweetie falsely told her that I had made a pass at him. I have no clue why he ever said such a thing, but the fact that she actually believed it (she had some jive taste in men - worse than mine)...well, I just didn't ever care about her either way after that. Even after he admitted he lied and she apologized to me. I just didn't care. Still don't.

Wow! In thinking back, I have never lost a friendship other than from just losing touch due to moving to college, getting married and moving or choosing different lifestyle paths.

Nothing dramatic or anything, no fights, disagreements or dumb stuff.

How ridiculous is that? :confused:

You're a nice person who doesn't lose friends -- absurd! If you want to lose friends, one great way to accomplish this is make a movie with them. Weird, but true. A common experience, I've gathered.

Well, I've television and radio broadcast with some friends, performed theater with some friends and wrote with some friends and didn't run into any drama. I've filmed cable filler skits and dance routines with friends too and didn't lose any.

I wonder what making a movie has that the other things don't that leads to strained friendships?

I don't know, Terra. Maybe you aren't belligerent and abrasive enough to drive friends away. Try contradicting everybody's creative input, denigrating each person's contribution to the project, and make sure your ego gets in the way.

I really don't like confrontation at all and am known as "the peacemaker" in all of my circles. Perhaps that's it.

I'm not very good at being belligerent, however when I'm being backed in a corner so to speak, on some occasions, I can slice you up pretty good with just my words. I aim to cut and cut deep on those very rare occasions and accomplish that mission extremely well.

Then again though, I've never had a friend be the one to back me in a corner.

I dunno. I think you just lack some of the bitch factor that some of us have. Sometimes people think that I've walked out of a friendship that I didn't really think of as a friendship. Not all acquaintances become people ya just wanna hang out with forever. It doesn't mean that your "firendship" is "ruined". It's just that there isn't enough interest so people drift off.
