Grandma need smartphone?

Was talking with my ole mom today and she was on to the idea of buying a new mobile phone. Because apparently, recently... smartphones are popular

She's been using one of those 5$ Nokia brick phones that you can basically drown in the washing machine or jump on without there being any big issue.

So I'm thinking... omg. Maybe upgrade the brick to a slightly newer one, but forget about apple/android with apps for the mobile and get an iPad instead, after all, what's she gonna do with a mobile in terms of apps..? Read news on it! Such a tiny screen for a soon 70 year old is a bit of a stretch.

Any other bright ideas?

    So I'm thinking...
Not thinking well, though. Whether your mom gets a smart phone or not is (or should be) her business.

There is no age limit to buying smart phones that I know of - if they were confined to people with smarts, a lot of young people wouldn't qualify.

Indeed ... if your attitude to people a generation older than yourself is as patronising as that, you should meet my grandparents (well, actually, you probably shouldn't) ... whose technological skills are far in advance of my own ...

I agree with Alexa and Kay King. Your grandma should try iPad probably. She could read the news on it, surf on the internet, talk on the phone.... I'm just sayin'

EDIT BY MODERATOR: Why does your location say "Chicago" when your IP is in Romania?
I'm staying in Romania for a while but I'm from Chicago, is there a problem?

My mum has an iPad and she uses it for all kinds of things. I've seen her use it to wedge doors open, even up a wonky table, mark her place in a book.......

    Just kidding!

Or wait a while and get both together!

Samsung is already doing this with its Samsung 2 Notepad!

Biggest screen around for a mobile phone, and can go up to 64 gigs, (l saw an add for it today)!

But my brother has an ipad and says that for a beginner it is user ready or doesn't have tricky things to figure out!

It sounds like a program with all the necessary addons, but l am sure it has it's limitations?

A case where the signature is perfectly descriptive.
