I was reading up on the famous Field Marshall and I noticed
a few similarities in these two people...

and...

The eyes, chin and cheekbones have striking similarities. The ears and nose look kind of similar too.

I'm not implying the likeness is bad or good, just that it exists.

Dunno David. We'll have to get ahold of Paul and shave his face to figure it out, but I'm thinking that mayhaps Paul isn't as old as this guy probably is. Sorry - not familiar with the Desert Fox in any other capacity than the automatic gold concentrating pan I sell on my rockhound site. LOL.

Now if you take another look at Paul -- and then back at Mash - There's also a tad of resemblance to Colonel Potter, too. Then, too - if you painted him green he'd be a tad Leprechanish. Maybe what we are seeing is a human Camilion

    Perhaps your right Sal.

I knew going into this thread I'd probably be the only one to see it.

The side Erwin Rommel fought on I don't particularly care for, but the man himself was really interesting to read about.

No - I see it, too, David. There is one heck of a lot of resemblance there. Actually enough to think they would be related if standing together somewhere.

I agree. I find Rommel to be the most interesting WWII German Nazi.

I see the resemblance too, Dave.

The only thing I'm not so sure about is the ears resembling one another's. Other than that, a very close resemblance indeed.

You people are weird. Not as weird as the folks who tell me I look like Stephen King, but weird. (Hmmm... Would I rather look like a Nazi Field Marshall, or a Boston Red Sox fan?)

I'd wager I laugh a lot more than Herr Rommel did.

Errr...let's separate the NAZIs--the government--from the armed forces, who went and fought the battles their government told them to. The German navy had no love for the NAZI party...and many army leaders didn't either. Rommel was a career army guy from the German Empire starting in 1910. That's a long time before Hitler got into power. At one point, when the bomb plot was being considered, Rommel wanted him arrested and tried instead.

Churchill said: He also deserves our respect, because, although a loyal German soldier, he came to hate Hitler and all his works, and took part in the conspiracy to rescue Germany by displacing the maniac and tyrant. For this, he paid the forfeit of his life. In the sombre wars of modern democracy, there is little place for chivalry.

    An important distinction, imo.

Now from this angle, I think the resemblance fades:

Perhaps the resemblance does fade some, however, now the ears match! :p
