Hey guys. Gonna keep this one brief, just want everyone to list some commonly misspelled words you see everyday. Here's a few:

grammar (commonly misspelled "grammer")
tomorrow (Has one M, two Rs, and no A!)
February (I am a victim of misspelling this one)
January (people place an extra R after the second A)
balloon (two Ls and two Os, people omit one of the Ls or one of the Os)
necessary (one C and two Ss)
Wednesday (normally spelled like it sounds, "Wendsday")
Thursday (people normally omit the S)
July (YES, I have seen this one spelled "Jaly" too many times)
apple (spelled "appel" too many times)

I'm sure there's more but I can't think of any now. Add yours to the list haha.

  • Hi Biggie Fat,

Bare with me, I'll cume up with sumthin.

    Bud
  • two I always mess up on: separate and definitely. Wow, I got definitely right on the first try that time. That's a first. Usually it takes me three tries before giving up and letting FF tell me.
  • Spelling errors don't bother me in places like forums where people shouldn't need to spell check just to chat a bit. I am degreed in linguistics and went into school thinking that something was wrong with me for misspelling so frequently and came out not caring if I did or not unless I'm writing an article or sales page or something else that actually counts. If you study the evolution of English, there are good reasons why so many people make so many errors. The written form (which is not innate) is one convoluted mess.
  • I have seen such spell mistakes, and even worst by some, claiming to be writers..
  • Here's a few more for yall:

Massachusetts (the state most commonly misspelled, but on most misspellings people often omit the 3rd S)
Virginia (people often omit the 2nd I)
Connecticut (spelled like it sounds, "Connecticet" or "Connectiket")
    tornado (normally spelled "tornando")
believe (the E and the I are normally reversed)
alcohol (extra L added at the beginning mostly)
    tobacco (second C omitted sometimes)
cigarette (extra R added and/or second T omitted)

    Anyone else wanna add?
  • yeah not to think of it i do mispelled a lot of words but its okey for me as long as you get to the point

  • Got more for you guys:

guarantee (so many misspellings, but most commonly the N is omitted)
receive (second E is often omitted)
apparatus (this is a word you don't hear everyday but it does have so many misspellings, often the second P omitted)
conscience (extremely misspelled the way it sounds, "consense")
Mississippi (some of the Ss or one of the Ps omitted)
lesbian (I've seen this spelled "lesbean" so many times it's funny)

    More coming soon.
  • Well, the Yanks always seem to misspell words containing the letter "u", such as honour, flavour, colour, armour, rumour, etc.

    Meh heh heh...

    • I've often wondered how to target mispelled keywords in your SEO efforts. Obviously I don't want to look like a moron and have mispellings all over my site.

but the way google currently works, thats the only way to do it, seems kinda lame to me.

      Same with variations.

If I want to rank for blue widget and pink widgets, then I have to build 2 pages and fill the internet with redundant content, just to have a good seo presents.

Seems like a waste of resources to me.
    • And don't forget those obnoxious ize words sneeking replacement for ise.

  • Here's more for yall:

separate (The A normally replaced with an E)
    ambiguous (first U normally omitted)
    internet (normally spelled "enternet")
    computer (T replaced with a D)
Italian (second I and second A normally reversed, "Italain")
    Afghanistan (H normally omitted)

More soon. Feel free to add.
