Never, ever, ever buy an IM product again?

I have had a serious case of 'Must Have The Latest New Product' syndrome for the past 8 months, and I am now going cold turkey.

Here are my very best tips to stop me ever, ever, ever buying a shiny new IM product ever again.
  • Tip number 1 - Join the 'War Room'
  • Tip number 2 - Place a post it note on your laptop reminding you that you joined the 'War Room' - this is handy when nearing those buy buttons!
  • Tip number 3 -Grab all the info on offer, (It's awesome!) and share all your info with others in the 'War Room'
  • Tip number 4 -Use the money you save, and spend it on driving traffic to the brand new sales funnels and products and systems you have learned from the 'War Room'
  • Tip number 5 - These tips do not apply when you are buying my products

These tips saved me from financial disaster.

I completely understand your rationale for doing it, but I still find it funny that Tip #1 to stop buying info products is to buy access to info products...

Mmmm maybe but then you'd miss out on a lot of great products...

Lead Rocket just came out recently that was awesome

The video player that Mike Lantz released not too long ago was awesome

Some of these products are extremely useful and pay themselves off quickly

Very true, but I was guilty of buying products that I wanted, but didn't really need. I've got a ton of them on my hard drive gathering dust. The War Room eases my craving, but I agree, some stuff you just have to get.

^ This is great advice mate! that is exactly what I was doing wrong when I first started, I lost a lot of money on different MMO products but I have to admit that some products actually helped me a lot, buying is not the problem but I prefer to read many reviews before using Paypal.

I don't mean to sound cynical, but isn't 99% of the stuff on offer products from people who shouldn't be teaching other people to make money online?

        Fixed that for you.

I'd say the main thing people should concern themselves with is FOCUS. Many, many great systems and techniques come out that can be very profitable, but the problem is that most people don't put enough energy into ANY of them to actually make them work.

My advice is to choose only ONE of the recent "methods" or "systems" that you've learned, and focus all your efforts on it until it produces real profits for you. Only then should you decide to start another project or focus on another niche.

    Keep it up buddy!

Hi, the war room is an exclusive area of this forum. Many top marketers share some of their best resources there. Ironically there is a one time fee, $37, but this ranks as some if the best money I have spent in IM. Hope this helps.

Some people get their "epiphanies" with paid products. Others get it from something they read on a website. Some get it from forums. Some get it from mentors. Some get it from the War Room. And some get their epiphanies via free ebooks. So it all depends on your best learning style. There are some really GREAT products out there.

      This^^^^^^

Only thing I will add is, epiphany's can also come from library, book stores, googling, youtube, emails, observation, or, sitting on the stool.
Meditate all the time. Keep your eyes and ears open.

I've never suffered from shiny object syndrome. I buy some awesome products, but they are products that I need for my business, and usually they are products from trusted members that post frequently in the forum that I've come to know and like. That normally results in a high level of satisfaction with the stuff that I do purchase.

Focus? What's that? I love that comment. I have bought far too many products but it wasn't the product that has been the problem. It's me . I finally set myself a WSO monthly budget. This has caused me to research more and avoid the impulse buy. Knowing I'm only going to spend X amount per month as me being pretty selective these days.

I liked the suggestion above that you wait until you recoup your investment before you buy the next product. I may have to think about this one

I refuse to stop buying products all together because I think that is what continues to make this forum so valuable. If we all quit buying products my guess is members of this forum will be less likely to be so giving in their advice, but that just my opinion.

I think you just have to be more selective on the ones that you do buy. If a product gives you a good ROI, why not buy it? The problem is that most don't and most people don't take action even on the ones that do.

I think there are products that really offer value, such as for example, graphical tools, or software, etc. Even if you know the ideas, this type of products can help in making your income easier to automate.

Hi Brian! hope you don't mind me adding:

Tip number 6 -Be a Reasonable Buyer. If the new "shiny product" doesn't have any direct effect whatsoever to what you are been working on, press that small "x" at the upper right of the screen.

    Cheers!

After spending quite a bit of money on products I agree. I wish I had spent more time implementing the first program I had purchased instead of blowing money on so many products. What has stopped me from spending money on everything that I might be able to use is the thought that the current product that I'm working with will help me get my first dollar online.

yeah, that is absolutely right. I purchased over $2000 worth of products my first 3 years online and it was really frustrating not seeing results. However, if you spend this money promoting your site you would have tested a whole bunch of things that would take you to the next level. But it is equally important to keep an eye for the hot products that actually fit in your system. If you buy something that helps to make your system more powerful I think you must do it, this helps to take you to the next level...

    I know that "I need everything new"-problem.
    How I stoped it?
I took an old method that always worked and
    will always work: affiliate marketing.
I bought no new products, and did not try other
methods till I made that work.
You dont believe how fast you can make money
online if you focus all your efforts.

Well, this advice is very good for me, war room is a hard and long way to learn about IM, but it is way better than just buying a cool product but with zero result. War room gets more powerfull day by day, while a shiny IM product will only get outdated. Think about that.

What about the time disaster? Correct me if I'm mistaken, but it seems to me you're just swapping your source for shiny objects. That may save you money, but until you make a plan and start taking focused action toward achieving your goals, all the shiny objects in the world aren't going to do anything but help you spend more time admiring your shiny objects.

What have you done with all those shiny objects so far?

If you have a solid direction you could hypothetically buy a product every single day and have those products prove to be an asset to your business.

More often than not, people don't need to stop buying, they need to start investing after deciding once and for all what it is they are going to do with themselves.

You should be in control of the tools you use, not be under the rule of the tools...

            Wise words!

Yep, l have bought a few, one delivered what l expected, and a couple didn't!

The last one was from an in and out member, who had a video related SEO offer, which l spent two months developing!

Then after seeing crap results, and doing some more in depth research on some of his testimonial givers, YouTube channels, l realized it was a scammy offer!

Not surprisingly that member has done a runner, and his PayPal account is under investigation!

But the thing is, over the last 5 years whenever l have tried a SEO based system, and spent months or years trying to get it to work, it hasn't!

Obviously l am not saying that it couldn't work, but the sales letter tends to make out anyone can make this work! Instead of the reality that a handful or 10% can make it work!

I will avoid SEO based systems like the plague, from now on. Rather invest in things with a 90% success rate than 90% failure!

If it's a 'how-to' product then you really shouldn't be buying more than one at a time. Once you buy something you have to give yourself some time to implement it. Tools and software on the other hand are a bit different. I always have a rule where I don't buy anything unless I can use it or implement or test it right now. Not tomorrow. Not next week. But right now. By doing this I buy only stuff I need or have immediate interest in testing and implementing.

hahaha, I love your tips! Great share. I would add:
*don't open up emails when you are frustrated or down.
    * Don't start your day on the warrior forum. You have better and more productive things to do!
    * Don't start you day by opening up emails and get tempted.
    * Keep it simple. Use what you know!

I would suggest that the problem is not on 'buying' the shiny stuff but collecting it too from the War Room now. Make the switch from being a consumer to that of a producer and investor (in your knowledge).

This means that you are more critical about the info that you buy because it must be helpful to your current goals/tasks or you don't buy it/download from the War Room - period.

    Did someone say FOCUS!
