Just the other day, I was sitting in here on the laptop & I heard a VERY loud crash in the other room.

My dog was laying on the bed behind me, so it wasnt her. Wife was working, so it wasn't her.

So I grabbed the pistol & went to investigate.

No signs of any attempts to break in or anything like that, so I start walking back to my room. But on the way back, I see our pumpkin light laying in the middle of the living room floor.

Now, this is a HEAVY, 6 inch round light that has 5 LED's that flicker randomly. It mimics a candle when its inside a jack-o-lantern.

Thats when it hit me - It is IMPOSSIBLE for that light to fall from where it was sitting.

It was sitting FLAT in the center of a mirror that is laying on a desk.. The mirror has a 2 inch edge that sticks out - meaning there is NO WAY it could have jumped 2 inches into the air (over that edge) & then slide off of the side & then fall on to the floor.

Something picked up that light & dropped it 4 feet away onto the floor. Thats the only possible way it could have happened.

Weird stuff man.

The scariest stories are the ones that are true.

This one is really creepy and scary and I will never forget it!

Even though it happened when I was only four years old, it is still as vivid as though it were just yesterday. One night in the middle of the night I awoke with this feeling of fear. My heart was beating super fast and my chest felt tight, heavy. I opened my eyes and there right in front of my face was this apparition. It was a skull with huge pitch black eye sockets and was wearing a black cape. I was scared and quickly shut my eyes again but I could still see it. I opened them again and it was still there! So I quickly closed them again and pulled the covers over my head. When I opened my eyes while beneath the blankets, it was there.

At this point, I got out of bed and ran as fast as my little feet would carry me to my parents room, jumped up onto their bed and woke them up crying. At this point I was so hysterical I couldn't even talk. My parents asked me if I had a bad dream and I could only nod. They told me to go back to bed, it was only a bad dream and I would be okay.

But when I got back into bed and fell asleep again, I woke up again and it was there. I then went into my parents' room again and didn't wake them this time, but crawled under their bed and fell asleep. For some reason, it wouldn't bother me in their room. I awoke early in the morning and snuck back out.

This same occurrence happened a couple of more times throughout the week and I would go crawl under my parents' bed and fall asleep, wake early and sneak out. The following weekend my mom went to a flea market with some of her friends. When she came back home, she called me, my sister and brother to her to show us what she had purchased. She had three hand puppets made of felt. One was Little Red Riding Hood, one was Goldilocks and one was a skull puppet wearing a black hooded cape. It was it!

I started freaking out screaming and running around the parlor. My mom saw that it bothered me and I don't know what she did with it, but I never saw it again. I also never saw that apparition again.

Years later in college I took a course to study different religions and spiritual philosophies. While I was at the library doing research for my term paper, I came across a chapter on satanism in one of the books. Curious, I began to skim through that chapter and couldn't believe my eyes! There on one of the pages was a black and white photo of that black cloaked skeleton hand puppet. I kid you not! I just had to read about it and discovered that that puppet was used in training young girls who had been dedicated to him at birth to be his personal handmaidens. A children's teaching aid to learn satanism! A literal cold shiver ran down my spine.

I closed the book and returned it to the shelf. I had no desire to read or learn more! All I knew is that it had visited me as a young child and I certainly didn't ever want to experience that kind of palpable fear again.

See? Creepy scary!

Now, let's end this on a lighthearted note. When I was a teenager having one of the many fun talks with my mom and dad where they told stories about me when I was younger, they told me that when I was a little girl, I snored so loudly that I actually sounded like I was sleeping in their room right under their bed! I just laughed along with them.

When I was a kid (like a REALLLLLLLLLLLY young kid, maybe 4/5 or so) our old house had an attic & a basement.

We would hear footsteps in the attic. As soon as my dad popped his head up to check things out, they would disappear. But then not even a moment later, we would hear the same footsteps coming from the basement.

When he checked the basement, it went back up to the attic.

This continued like daily until my grandma came over & did some 'blessing' or something with holy water. That was the last time we heard anything.

I've never seen a ghost, as far as I know anyway. I obviously know people who say they have but until I see one it's hard to believe. The offices of a roofing company where I used to work from were once a makeshift morgue due to this incident http://www.roll-of-honour.com/Kent/F...Explosion.html, and one of the rooms which was only really used as a store room of sorts was said to be colder than the rest but I never noticed it. Part of the building used to be a fishing shop run by the owners son and he said he used to see fishing hooks spinning on the wall and the obvious type stuff you would expect from ghost stories but he could be lying for all I know. We eventually converted the building into flats and I was often there on my own. I even went into that room with the lights off so it was pitch black as there was no window and stood in the far corner but nothing ever happened.

One day we had a skip driver come in the yard to exchange the skip but he wouldn't come into the building because he said they "were watching him". He reckons he sees ghosts all the time, sort of like that little chav out of The Sixth Sense. He told me about when he changes a skip at an old empty farmhouse we were converting out in the country. He would go there early in the morning to change it before all the builders etc turned up and he said when driving up the driveway he could see ghosts looking at him through the upstairs windows. I worked there one weekend giving a roofer a hand. I only worked because he would be the only one there and something to do with the law said he needed somebody with him in case an accident happened. Not being a roofer I didn't really do much but I had a wander round and found some stairs that went down to the cellar. I went down there and again it was pretty dark and I was hoping to see something but again nothing. I do however suffer from sleep paralysis and that's quite scary at times.

There was a ghost burro out where I lived in Colorado. I wrote a short blub on it for the October (Halloween) issue of my news letter once and instead of telling the story all over again - I'll just post the article here. I actually did hear this little guy many a dusk out there.

Okay, this one gives me the willies.

A few years back I was going with a gal full time. Her name was Cathy. She had a daughter who had been killed in a grinding car crash in the early morning about 10 years before.

We were sitting in this gal's house drinking coffee early one morning when a distinct noise came from a room she used as her office. It sounded like a saucer dropping. The room once belonged to Alice, the daughter who had been killed.

I asked her what the noise was as her big Golden Retriever was sitting alongside us and there was no one else in the house. She just shrugged. I knew what the noise was and had been aware of Alice since I first met this woman. I turned to her and said, "you know what that is." She turned away.

I wasn't aggressive but continued. "That's Alice," I said. "She's trying to get your attention. She's actually touched you a few times, hasn't she?" She still didn't answer. Then I asked her about the circumstances around her daughter's death but she said she didn't have many details. We had never talked about this stuff in much detail before. I asked if she wanted to know more. She just stared at me with a puzzled look.

I told her that Alice had been seeing a married guy for about a year. He was a doctor. He was handsome with short black hair. This guy had been stringing her along, telling her he was going to get a divorce and marry her. Alice was only 19 at the time.

The night she died she had a violent fight with the guy. She broke a bunch of stuff in his house and left in a rage, speeding away in her car. He followed her. They played leapfrog for a while until she was approaching a sharp curve at high speed. He backed off but she kept going and flipped the car. She was killed immediately. Lots of her personal stuff was strewn over the road. The doctor turned his car around and went home, never admitting he was at the scene.

Cathy looked at me teary and asked how I knew all this as we never went into any detail about Alice. I was just as surprised as she was and just shrugged. She kept asking me how I knew. She suggested that her son must have told me but I reminded her that I'd never been with her son without her present. Then she admitted she thought Alice was seeing an older man in the medical field but claimed to nothing more about him.

I told her that there have been times when certain images have just come to me, as they had just then. Everything I told her that morning just sort of erupted spontaneously. Then she asked me what Alice wanted. I said I didn't know specifically but felt that she needed to take some time one day, sit in the office and make her peace with her departed daughter. She had told me several times that their relationship had always been very stormy. Alice was looking for closure.

My grandmother was a psychic blowtorch. Family folklore has it that she sat up in bed in the middle of the night and proclaimed that her son, my father, had just been wounded in Korea. She actually described the wound in detail to my grandfather. It was two days later when the Navy actually contacted her to report what she'd already known.

She literally scared people with some of the things she'd predict. Me and one of my sisters got some of her mojo. I don't do it on command but sometimes certain things just come to me. Most people don't know about it because I almost never mention it but those who have known be for a long time definitely do.

@travlinguy... your last post.. gave me the chills, for more reasons than one.

Travelinguy -- there's a few areas of metaphysics in which I seem to have a tad of shine, too. Last night I dreamed Ricky (my dog) died. I hate death dreams because if they repeat more than once within a couple week period, someone actually dies - and it's never the one that dies in the dream, but someone from that general circle of folks. Well - Ricky belonged to my sister - so I'm looking at nieces, nephew, sister, brother-in-law, etc and thinking YIKES. I'm hoping it was a fluke. If I dream of death again this month, someone I care about is toast.

Back in '97, I met this old Bavarian guy who belonged to some kind of seance group in the '70's. He showed me an unpublished manuscript that was written by it's founder. i asked if I could borrow it to read. I was planning to read it over the weekend and placed the manuscript in my bookshelf. During the early hours of the next morning, around 2 AM, I woke up to a feeling of someone else in the room. When I opened my eyes, I saw this luminous apparition of a middle-aged woman dressed in white with shoulder-length hair floating above my left shoulder. My mind was in-between wakefulness and sleep at that point and couldn't comprehend the apparition that I was looking at. I closed and opened my eyes a couple more times to bring myself to full wakefulness, but it was still there. I'm not sure if it had consciousness to it because it felt like a form of replayed Holographic Image. It lingered on for another 7 seconds then it evaporated like a smoke from an extinguished candle. Needless to say, I returned the manuscript to the old gentleman the next day. It actually freaked him out because I described the author(deceased many decades earlier) to him, the apparition I saw, to a T.

just stories though built on "feelings and suspiscion" I've never seen one shred of real proof. Funny all thes epopel who live in haunted houses for years never managed to take one pictute or film any of it....... Hmmmm.Hmmmm... Still it makes a good read.

Ha more like you had seen this thing before and it gave you the creepes then the whole story builds from that. There's always a logical reason for this tuff. I mean are you sure it wasn't something you gave away in tbe past and maybe had guilty feelings about? Kids toy etc?

I mean for example why didn't it bother you in your mums room? Makes no sense does it? Why did it stop?

No i have no ghost story...never will!

Who would have "thunk" it, a ghost story thread gave me a an epiphany about my father.

When i was nine, i sold Christmas cards door to door. One morning i am out and about doing my thing, i go upto the porch of a house, for some reason just before i enter the porch
I get scared. I mean really nervous. Instead of turning around and leaving I go in anyway
and knock on the front door. The front door had large window in it, with a shear
curtain that you could see through. I saw inside the house easily.

I knock a few times and ring the door bell.I was only there a few minutes
but with each passing moment, I was feeling more and more terrified.

Then as i am looking through the curtain seeing nothing... the curtain moved!

I remember the hair on the back of my neck standing up, i remember
quite vividly how my body starting shaking uncontrollably.

Before i could turn around and flee i hear the porch door unlatch itself and open
I remember feeling a sense of relief because i thought some one else was coming onto the porch.
I turned around, no one was there. This was one of those porch doors with the hydraulic
pump that kept the door from slamming or opening abruptly.

When i turned around, the door flew open. I was rooted in place with fear for
a few seconds, I could not move and then i heard a noise, similar to the sound
of a very slight breeze moving through the trees.

That noise almost made me pee myself, it also got me moving, i ran out that
porch as fast as i could. I kept running until I made it to my grandmothers house.

I sat on the front steps for about an hour quietly crying.

Due to family dynamics I could tell no one.

We were at my grandmothers for the Christmas holidays, that same evening
everyone had went to bed, except for my mother, father and myself,
for whatever reason i was allowed to stay up and watch t.v with my parents.

it was snowing heavy that night, if i remember correctly it broke many records.
We all went upstairs to bed at the same time. My mother looked down he hall
into the room i was staying in, saw the curtains open and got mad at me.

She was mad because that room was in the front of the house, so anybody
could see right into my room. She yelled at me to close the curtains.

So I did.

When i went to close the curtains, i heard the sound of a light wind
the hair on the back of my neck stood up and i had a hard time not peeing myself.
and then the lock on the window, "clicked". I watched it as it unlocked itself.

I f'n lost it and started screaming.

My parents ran into my room trying to figure out what was wrong, so i told them.

My father told me it was impossible, then made me look out the window,
my room was above the porch, on the porch roof under my window was a foot or
so of freshly fallen snow ... with no foot prints.

That was his point, nobody could have unlocked the window, because there would be
foot prints on the roof.

Needless to say, that did nothing to quell my fears.

That night I would randomly hear that "wind" noise and freak out.

So for the first time in years they suggested i sleep with them. I did.

I should also tell you, we brought our dog Hugo with us to grandmas,
a good dog, a quiet dog. That night every time i heard that "wind"
Hugo went apeshit downstairs. He never barked inside .. he never peed
in any house. That night he would not stop, and he peed all over the house.

I eventually fell asleep, and i have never had any other similar experience.
The worst thing that happened to me, is i was afraid of the dark for a few years.

I was convinced that "thing" had followed me ... and meant to do harm.

Onto the epiphany

When i was 10 or thereabouts my father heard me brag that i was not scared of anything.
He knew i was lying. He pulled me aside, reprimanded me and then went onto
say "fear is normal and expected, but you will never be a man until you conquer all of your fears."

That is how i grew up ... scared of hieghts, climb a tree. scared of a bloody nose ...
get into a fight. Scared of something... go after it head on, man up.

According to my fathers death certificate, he died of natural causes. Specifically
cancer.

That is not true. He did have cancer, truth is, he had cancer just about everywhere.
But he did not die of cancer, he committed suicide.

One night in the hospital, he calls the family together and tell us all, tonight is the night.

Tonight I die. His plan, stop taking the morphine, remove the oxygen tubes
and move on. He said "i am ready, i am tired of fighting ... good bye."

Even though the nurses said that was impossible, and it would not happen,
"don't worry", that is exactly what he did, and he did it when everyone
except myself was outside smoking. His last words to anyone in this world
were to me. "Please hold me, It's time"

It has been over a decade since this happened, i have yet to grieve ...
I have known all along i that have been pissed at him for just giving up.

Reading this thread about ghosts made me remember that incident
and that made me think of my father and his take on fear, which led me to
think of his last moments, and for some reason, this time

I realized, he did not just give up ... he conquered his last fear.

In late 2006 we moved into this house. It was quite sometime before I was ever alone in this house (meaning my husband had gone somewhere without me). I was sitting at the dining room table and felt my hair being brushed away from my ear. A few minutes later, someone blew into my ear.

Time goes on, little, weird stuff keeps happening. One of our cats would sit up on his hind feet and swat at "something"... If I left the fridge door wide open, because I was going back to get something else, it would close, things like that.

One day my husband and I decided to take on a rescue dog. We had two dogs already, but this guy really needed a good home. He's a shepherd/lab mix. Looks like a black shepherd.

It took him a while to settle in but I never really understood why. Then, one day I am outside and I hear him barking, but not the other two. I look through our sunroom window and see him, hair on his back up, barking into the corner of the dining room! I mean he's going monkey $hit crazy!
That night we are sitting at the coffee table eating dinner and Max is on the couch behind us. He jumps up, runs in front of the coffee table and sits up like a bear and starts whining and pawing at something.

Another day I was in the master bedroom and was about to go into the living room, Max would NOT come out! He was scared and I couldn't figure out why (I thought it was the other cat, he was terrified of him)... no cat in sight but Max would not come out. He just sat there, whining.

Now, I have never seen anything, but all of these things led me to do some research of this place. Turns out one of the previous owners died in this house, my master bedroom to be exact. The lady we bought this house from sold it because "Neal" was scaring the crap outta her. She would see him and even the guy that was installing the new blinds for her saw him floating around. I also found out that he loved, and owned shepherds.

Neal still bugs me once in a while, I can always feel him behind me when walking down the stairs.. creepy. He still closes my fridge, once in a while my cupboards, it's always when I'm going back to get something!

I had to put my baby down last year. She was my mare of 18 years, I had her since she was born. My other two, one being her grandfather, the other is another mare, were her buddies. When she was alive and I would let them out, my mare would always holler as she was running out to the field.

When I let the other two out, still, a year later, I can hear her holler. It always tears me up. My husband has heard her too.

Your first story was super spooky! Your father sounds like he was an amazing person!

Ha! Chester was making sure that your new "boyz" were clear on who was boss!

On a lighter (sorta) note. We lost a stallion a couple of years ago. We burried him in our round pen. It was quite a while before I put anyone in the round pen.
The first one to go into the round pen was "the boy" (he's in my avatar). He's our other stallion. Sidenote: There really is a great story behind that picture!
So, I put the boy in there, he walks straight to the other stallion's grave and pees on it! I'm not sure if my reaction was the right one, but I laughed so hard!
However, the following Halloween morning, the stallion in the ground, his grave had a huge sink hole in it.. my first thought was he got out! The ground had had plenty of time to settle by then.. so spooky!

I had a Rotty that died - expectedly. He was old - past official life expectancy for the breed. He'd lost almost all of his vision, and was having seizures. One day he could no longer walk and I knew it was time to put him to sleep. I laid down by him to hold him for awhile before going to the vet's. I fell asleep and he died while I slept. I was relieved he made the decision for me, but was very grieved to lose my best friend. I was sitting on the floor with my face buried in his fur, crying.

Suddenly I felt something pass right through me. It was the strangest feeling -- but it was one of the most calming, blissful feelings I've ever had. I sat up and looked out the picture window to the mountain peaks and the road we used to walk. Then I got a flash in my head - a thought so strong that it materialized. I saw Blitz running - in the air, not on a path or road but just over one of the peaks. He was running with speed, joy, and freedom with his ears flapping in the wind. Then suddenly the vision was gone. The feeling inside of me was gone. But a very tranquil peace remained. I'm sure that all of my "boys" are still around sometimes. Sometimes I can just feel them. I'm sure they will be just across the divide waiting for me when I cross over. There is no doubt in my mind of that one. I may have to search for the souls of family and friends departed - but my dogs are going to be right there waiting.

Ghosts are accepted as part of Asian culture. However, it is also said that only some people can see them. It is said that if you haven't see a ghost by your late twenties, the chances are that you will never see one.

After moving into an old 3 story house, which I have visited the property of, though the house is long gone, my mother as a young girl would have a recurring dream, which my grandmother has confirmed to me. She would dream each night for a week straight of a woman in a long peach colored neglige calling her by name...and beckoning her to come and follow it down the hall...

There was a room in the house that was locked, no one knew what was in it, because the landlord had said it was off limits... it contained the belongings of his deceased mother.

In her dream the woman would lead her down the hall into that room and point to a dresser drawer.

My mother told my grandmother of this dream, that wouldnt stop coming to her every night...she described the woman, the peach gown, and the dresser drawer.

My grandmother decided it was time to put my mothers irrational fears to rest and one day unlocked the door....not expecting a dresser in there that looked anything like the elaborate description my mother gave.

But when she opened the door, there it was, just like my mother had described it.

And when they opened the dresser drawer, there was the peach neglige.

She never had the dream again after that...

Edit: forgot to mention, that my grandmother went to the landlord and told him what she had done, and why...he wasnt upset, more moved...and described the woman... my mothers description fit her to a T.

As for myself, I have had a few experiences I believe recently.

You know how when you are sleeping, if someone comes and sits on the side of your bed you can feel it...?

For the last month or so, about every night, I have felt that...literally my bed feels like someone is coming and sitting on it beside me...I can feel it sink down and everything... A couple of nights ago, I felt it, then moments later I felt someone touch me, like a finger brushing across my shoulder.

It doesnt seem to mean any harm whatever it is, I am not uncomfortable with it...but its very real... Dont know what it is...but its there. I dont think of my self as either superstitious or non superstitious... I dont analyze it much because anything I could think of would be speculation at best. I just let it sit there...and I dont worry about it.

My daughter is like "Maybe its a sucubus Dad!" Lol and got all excited telling me about some myth she read with her eyes all big...lol... But I dont think so...Maybe an aunt that passed or something, it seems to only want to sit beside me...there is an endearing kind of feeling.

I spent so much time as a metaphysical freak when I was in my thirties and experienced so much disappointment finally realizing that I had been following alot of beliefs that were just mystical feeling with no real backing or substance...that I kind of shun any of kind of mystical thoughts these days... I tend to reject any thoughts not firmly planted in reality...

But , yeah this experience has been pretty real, however not disturbing in any way.

Ps. Once my wife and I dreamed the same dream, and woke up still conversing as if we were still in the dream... I was twenty, and we both smoked pot... I said something to her in the dream... and then we both woke up and she said "no its not, you're just stoned" lol still responding to whatever I had said to her in the dream...(now we were both awake though our eyes were still closed...and I opened my eyes and looked at her, and said "Uh.... no Im not..." and we both suddenly realized we had been dreaming- the same dream together - and were still talking as if we were in it! We both freaked out...and proceeded to describe it again to each other, we had seen the exact same thing from opposite sides of the room we were in in the dream. We shared a dream, or met in our dream...it was weird.
