Sometimes A Child Shouldn't Go To School

I'm sure a lot of you noticed how inefficient school was for actual education. If a child is always targeted by bullies, no matter which school he or she attends, find other ways for child to attain education. Otherwise, your child might end up committing suicide:

There's always been bullies in school - but this thing of continuing to target the family after a suicide is very disturbing. What is going wrong with our society that people are becoming this overtly vicious? Is it the drugs we are being fed or were all societies that moved toward fascism this bad? As far as I'm concerned, anyone this far gone into pure evil and cruelty should just be shot in the head. We have too much competition for resources to support those sick enough to attack like this.

I'm struck by how many of these stories refer to kids with learning disabilities and I have to wonder why that is.

Years ago, kids with learning disabilities were in separate classes and sometimes in separate schools. The same was true for kids with serious physical disabilities.

It was decided that was not politically correct - that kids with disabilities "deserved" to be in the same school as other kids.

Did we do them any favors? Did we put kids with challenges in schools where the odds were against them? Was it so wrong to provide separate classes where the kids would be schooled with others facing the same problems? I have to wonder about that.

There were court cases where parents argued the "rights" of their child to attend "regular" schools and that was part of the disabilities act. Schools today must make allowances for students' special needs. Schools can do that - but maybe what we are seeing is that it doesn't work as well as planned when other students are intolerant.

Malicious bullying is always inexcusable and should be dealt with harshly irrespective of the bullies' target, but those are certainly valid questions that should be explored on the basis on what how well they actually do in regular classrooms rather than on untested theories. Some theories may appear to be fair and just but sometimes reality exposes that they are still plain incorrect.

Its really difficult to admit that things like these happen in schools and we can't do a thing to stop them other than lamenting. Feels real bad, but I worry about the future of kids educated at home. Will they get equal career opportunities like the ones taught in schools?

        Kay,

There is a scam that has been going on for AT LEAST 40 years! SOME "***TEACHERS***" are STUPID or lazy, and claim the problem is the KIDS, and the kids get put on drugs like Riddalin, etc... and TODAY, they may do things like act like people with AS or some related problem are stupid, etc... ALSO, some "teachers" don't want to do more than sit in front of the class. So it is hard to tell who the REAL ***IDIOTS*** are!

And people of ALL sorts are bullied. For ALL sorts of reasons. A person is more likely to be bullied for LOOKING like they have downs than they are for actually being stupid.

So we should give preferential treatment to people that are CLAIMED to have learning difficulties, and happily go along with bullies beating up those that DON'T? MAN is that twisted logic! Maybe we should have a meritocracy. Lay out the facts as follows:

        1. Parents.... If your children are a burden, isolate them, or you will lose benefits accordingly....
        2. Students... If you are a burden, STOP, or YOU will lose benefits accordingly.
        3. Teachers... If YOU fail, tenure be%^&*(""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

THEN we would see things get better. IMAGINE! FAR fewer bullies, lower taxes, and fewer problems. Health care costs would likely drop ALSO! Imagine how things could change....

And NOW, it would be SO easy. We could have computers locked to areas that have schooling where they can benefit if they wish, but be AWAY from anyone they may hurt.

HECK, we AREN'T in the 1930s anymore! QUICK, HOW many here were in school in the 1930s or earlier? I'm betting not many! Yet not TOO long after that, they had materials to provide instruction WITHOUT teachers! Wikipedia has references at least as early as 1959 for it. There probably aren't many here that were in school even THAT early.

AND, with the internet, improved methods, and computers, I bet we could do SO much better.

        Steve
