Sewage Tomatoes

Mmmmm. Sounds good right?

This is just the funniest thing I've dealt with living in the country so far.

Last month we had a sewage leak, which was resolved ASAP.

Today, I noticed a full grown tomato plant in the spot that the sewage had leaked..

Thing is.. we never planted any tomato seeds!

  • You didn't need to plant the seed, it probably came from the sewage. Not sure I would use any of the fruit as that is how ecoli is spread through tomatoes and lettuce. Just be careful!

    • The seeds of many kinds of fruits you probably enjoy every day are spread in this way. The secret about how to deal with it is quite revolutionary: wash it before eating it. Amazing, I know.

  • Everyone here says fruit.

I'm going to joking say it's a vegetable duuuur.

Funny how that turned into such an argument in school.
  • Wash it off - if you are worried about bacteria have a little piece of cheese with it. The calcium is hard to digest and will make you produce more stomach acid - which kills bacteria.

Kay - yep. Natural fertilizer. If you go to Germany, the smell of farmland in the spring is just nauseating. But their organic produce is magnificent later.
