The Clocks In The UK Have Just Gone Back - Winter Is Coming!

Hi everyone,

I am making an appearance down this neck of the woods for a change to speak about the clocks having just gone back an hour in the UK. I was busy with something online at 2:00 A.M. here when the time on my laptop automatically changed back to 1:00 A.M.

My first reaction was cool an extra hour's sleep
My second reaction which came almost immediately after my first one was oh no the dark, cold and wet winter is coming

Come on everyone cheer me up down this end with a joke or something lol. (N.B. It turned freezing today in London as if to signify the pending clock change!)

Are you also in the UK then? It has really turned freezing today and me and the cold don't have the best of relationships.

I think I should consider migrating southwards for the winter.

I'm not from the US but I was chatting via Skype with Terra a couple of days back and she told me that in Michigan it goes back this weekend as well. Not sure about in other places though Sal.

Actually, I checked the calender afterwards and we don't fall back until next weekend, the 4th of November, 2 am to be exact.

Well you shouldn't have told me, Terra. I would have been all acclimated by the time everyone else changed.

          LOL!

I just didn't want you being the only one in the whole country on daylight savings time. That could have been embarrassing. :p

More bad news ... at the grocery store tonight I saw hundreds of bags of snowmelt crystals. First time they've been in stock since the end of last winter.

    Sigh...

I just woke up and forgot how it takes my body clock time to get used to the change, boy am I tired. Thanks for the update Terra, looks like you guys will just have to wait to get that extra hour's kip (and everything else that goes with it.)

Ha! you think you have problems, down there in London?! :p

200 miles north of you it's always colder, always darker, and in the winters we have had (some) snow up here for three consecutive years, I tell you. There ought to be a law against it.

Very little snow last winter, I admit, though it did settle overnight once or twice ... but both the previous two winters there were days I couldn't even get the car out! What kind of deal is that?!

I'm awaiting white stuff falling out of the sky again with an air of resignation, this year.

And just to keep my post on-topic to the thread, my computer had adjusted its own time settings when I got online today, but I had to reset my watch myself.

Well I accept what you're saying however, I used to live in a town near Newcastle for 4 years which as you can imagine gets seriously cold in the winter. (For everyone else it's far North of the UK and gets a strong wind coming in off the North sea). Thus, I can only feel so sympathetic to you Alexa

Ahh I remember those days of the deep snow, freezing wind which makes your ears feel boiling etc. I shouldn't get too nostalgic about it!

        Buckle up Alexa and others
