It's my favorite time of the year! Both the NFL and NBA seasons going on...

I think the NBA West is up for grabs and haven't condeded it to the Lakers or OKC. One of the stats orientated "gurus" actually picked my Nuggets to win the West.

OKC traded The Beard, so I'm not sure about how that will work out. They will still be very good, but you always have to wonder about making a change to an excellent team.

TL's Lakers got Nash and Howard, but I watched Nash with Phoenix last year, and he couldn't cover Ty Lawson at all. I'm also not sure about how Nash and Kobe will work together, as they both need the ball alot. Will Kobe be willing to let Nash set him up? Will Dwight "Moe" Howard be able to hit free throws when needed?

San Anotonio will be tough as always, but aren't they old yet?

And in the East, it looks like Miami is the only team that will truly contend, especially after adding Ray Allen. The Nets will be improved and the Knicks again over-rated.

As for my Nuggets, they play 17 of their first 23 on the road. If they are anywhere close to .500 after the first 6-7 weeks, you better look out.

And...will Tim's Warriors make the playoffs this year?

  • Miami is truly a strong team this year. They have the Big 3 and a new added, Ray Allen who is one of NBA's most talented 3 point shooter. I feel that it's going to really hard for the other teams to stop them. They might become the champions again.

  • Ha yeah man nice thread. Yeah the line up with Nash and Kobe is going to be interesting for sure. I think that if Nash can step up and play fast and keep the pace moving along, he'll do well. I think he'll have more of a passing role yeah? And maybe take some 3 pointer shots too.

    • My Warriors look really good on paper. It's really up to whether Bogut and Curry's ankles can hold up. Besides that, this Warriors team is deeper I have seen it in many years. I'm looking forward to seeing the opener tomorrow because Bogut may play and he didn't play at all in pre season.

The Nugget's are also deep and young. Plus Karl is one of the best coaches.

OKL will do just fine without Harden. He's a terrific player, but the way he choked in the finals was surprising and you wonder if that will carry over to other important series. Kevin Martin can flat out score and I see him doing great as Hardin's replacement. Another years experience for the three young stars is going to help them in the playoffs.

The Lakers? I don't know. Kobe likes to have the ball a lot of the time. I noticed in the pre season games Nash wasn't getting many assists. Plus, he really is getting old. Howard is great defensively and can score on pick and rolls and ally oops, but he hasn't progressed much one on one offensively. Plus, he still can't shoot free throws, so he has his liabilities. I don't see the Lakers making the finals.

Linmania has bitten the dust and he has come back down to earth. Big mistake by Houston to pay so much for him imo and I do like him, just not as your star player.

The Spurs will have a great record again probably, but I can't see them getting to the finals either.

The East? Miami I guess. I would love to see someone else beat them though.
  • Being a Laker fan, I gotta give a shout out to OKC for trading James Harden. That trade pretty much sent the Lakers to the playoffs against most probably the Heat.
  • I think OKC is still going to win more games than anyone in the Western Conference, but if they lose a 7 games series to the Lakers there's no doubt people will blame the trade.
    • [1] reply
    • Lakers start 0-2. Harden scores 37 with 12 assists, 6 rebounds and four steels in debut win with Houston. My Warriors win despite David lee and Curry going 4 for 30. Nuggets lose low scoring game. Jazz defeat Mavs a day after the Mavs beat the Lakers. Ex Warrior Brandon Wright starts the year off making 13 or 14 shots. ( I always liked that guy and couldn't understand why he wasn't given a better shot to make it with the Warriors. ) Did I mention the Lakers lost 2 in a row? Nash is hurt also.

      Go Warriors!

  • The top 3 teams IMO are the Heat, OKC and Lakers.

The Lakers need a bit more time to gel together (like the Heat's 1st season with LeBron) and from last night "Eddie Curry dominated us in the paint." - Mike Brown.

OKC is still going to be good, but with Harden gone, he was the stabilizer. Westbrook is still a bit too wild as a PG and other than the finals, Harden was more than just a 3rd option for scoring in OKC.

Heat is still the team to beat. Giving even more firepower than last year to Wade+Bron is going to be a fun team to watch.

I do like the Nuggets and their approach to team building. Iggy seems to be a great fit for them, hope they make it far this year.

    • Harden scores 45 in game two and is now averaging 41 ppg. Could he be a MVP player? Looks like it was a good move forcing the Thunder to trade him.

My Warriors are not playing good so far. They lost to Memphis last night at home. Memphis does have some weapons with Gasol, Randolph and Gay. Carl Landry has been playing terrific for the Warriors.

The Lakers are now 0-3! Will they ever win a game? Kobe did get 40 so he is happy I'm sure, although he got only one assist with 6 turnovers. I'm sure it wasn't his fault they lost though. :/

The Knicks easily beat the Heat by 20. It's a good day when both the Heat and Lakers lose.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks

  • I did not know that Ray Allen is now a Heat player. Wow, if you think that the past 2 years the MIAMI HEAT was hot, this year they are even hotter. I think little old Ray wanted another championship ring.

As for the Lakers, they have a strong team this year with Howard and Nash on board.

I can predict the future and say that HEAT will face the LAKERS on the NBA finals this season.

As for my raptors, hope they get to the play offs this season. Not expecting a whole lot from them but you never know.
  • I'm gonna follow NBA season again, after some 7-8 years (Last time I watched a game, Reggie Miller had retired. Wikipedia says that was 2005).

Rooting for Mavs. Hope Nowitzki returns soon!
  • Can't believe my Lakers are 0-3 (worst start since 1978).

After losing to the Mavs, I thought we would get an easy point against the Trailblazers but I thought we would win against the Clippers for sure.

Gasol needs to step up and start taking more shots, and World Peace is looking really bad. He can't catch, throw or dribble and his 3 point is off the mark completely.

Blake is looking good off the bench, he looks a lot better than how he was playing last year.

Both Gasol and Howard need to step their rebound game up, there is no way they should be getting out-rebounded as many times as they are.

Nash - well, Nash just needs to be Nash. The princeton thing is a bad look so far, but once they jell it could be a good fit.

I'm also liking what I'm seeing from Jordan Hill, and Morris looked good last night after getting some extra minutes as the back up point guard with Nash being out.

We have the Pistons tomorrow, now that should be a good game, but I can see the Lakers getting the first win of the season. After Kobe said "it's time to panic now" in the post-game interview, I can see him putting up big numbers. I can see him getting 30-40 points depending on how good (or bad) the rest of the team play.
  • Harden is better than anyone thought. He took no time to adjust to new teammates and is putting up way bigger numbers.
    • [1] reply
    • I always liked Harden. He's one of few that can do a good job guarding Kobe, has a solid shot amongst other things..

There are only good things ahead for him as long as he stays healthy.
  • Mavs top Bobcats.

    0-3 Kurt! 0-3, your team!

    • The Warriors had a good game last night in beating the Clippers. Two free agent signers JArret Jack and Carl Landry were the keys to the win and both have played well in all the games so far.

Nuggets played the Heat well in Miami. Good game for them even though they lost.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • You mean 2-3.

Using the Doug Moe system for the true standings, you take the number of road wins minus home losses, which puts my Nuggets at +1.

This is a more accurate way because it factors if a team has played alot of home or road games. The Nuggets have played 4 road games and only one at home.

Tonight, my Nuggets beat the Rockets. Ty Lawson and Andre Igoudala outplay Jeremy Lin and The Beard. Harden and Lin shoot 7 for 24 from the field. Faried adds 16 and 16.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks

  • Good for you Kurt.

Mavs are 4-1. Glad they won without Marion and Nowitzki. And its fun watching the Clippers annihilate Spurs.

    • The Warriors looked pretty good last night in beating the Cavs. Their rookie Barnes is getting a lot of minutes because Brandon Rush had a season ending knee injury last week. It was my first good look at Kyrie Erving and I was impressed. He looks like he will be a star for a long time.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • Hey Sumit,

It seems you're a pretty big NBA fan. How'd you become a fan and do you get much NBA info locally or do you find most of it online?
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
      • [1] reply
  • Man, I can't believe the Lakers. 1-4 is not good at all.

Did anyone see them against the Jazz? I was looking forward to that match-up, obviously more so than the Lakers as a team. They looked like they 'couldn't be bothered' then there was a little run in the third that looked as if they'd finally arrived.

Unfortunately it all went bad in the fourth when Foye started draining the 3, then the game was over.

I just can't get over teh fact how BAD they are at grabbing defensive rebounds (and offensive, but seems they are worse on defense). You've got both Howard and Gasol yet there are getting out-rebounded by smaller players all the time.

At the other end it just as bad, when they do actually get the rebound they can't convert. Last night they were grabbing the rebound as much as three times, having three more failed attempts.

With that being said, so far I'm liking what I see from Hill and Morris. Jamison is a non-factor, but is good at passing and setting team mates up. And I have no idea what Mike Brown is doing in regards to rotations. I've hardly seen anything from Meeks (mini mamba) as he's just not getting the playing time.

With Nash out, they need to start Blake, Kobe, Meeks, Gasol and Howard switching Meeks and Blake out after a 4 minutes and putting Morris, World Peace and Hill (replacing either Gasol or Howard whoever playing worse) until Nash gets back and they can get some set rotations.
    • [1] reply
    • I think they need to talk about their problems. There are lapses both players and staff of the Lakers. As a player they should give their best, share the ball and trust each other while in the coaching staff they need to motivate the players more and encourage them to play as a team. I think the team is locked of team play and they need to know each other. Maybe 5-10 games they will show the true LA Lakers.
  • Word is that the Lakers just fired Mike Brown.

Not sure if it's true, but there is a lot of talk online, lets just hope its true.

EDIT - it's official, Brown is gone! Potential new coaches are - Jerry Sloan, Kurt Rambis, Mike D'Antoni.....and Phil Jackson himself although this is highly un-likey in my opinion.

Can't wait for Nash to get better after his injury, at least Nash can now be Nash and we can forget the whole Princeton Offense (hopefully!)

Maybe they can get some solid rotations too, haven't seen hardly anything from Jodie Meeks as of yet.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • Good news break.

I'm not sure you fire a coach after 5 games, but they did and I'd probably go with reuniting D'Antoni with Steve Nash.

And, I wonder why Kareem never gets any mentions? I know he wants to coach. He must have really burned some bridges.
      • [1] reply
  • They fired him right before a homestand where they will undoubtedly run off some wins. Slick move management.
  • The Nuggets win their 3rd straight game, dominating the Jazz. This sets up the most anticipated regular season game of the season tomorrow night:

    • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • Haha. I am looking forward to it.

I missed the W's game tonight and apparently is was a good thing I did. :/

So the Nuggets are playing good now and the W's just lost to a 1-4 team! A 1-4 Team!

Bogut won't be playing by the way, because his ankle is giving him problems again. He looks like a hell of a player if he can stay healthy, which seems to be a problem now:/
      • [1] reply
  • How about the Lakers, now that's how they should be playing!

Loved the "We want Phil" chants by the crowd. Great game.
    • [1] reply
  • Nuggets win in 2 OTs.

    Tim...did you watch the game?

It was the most exciting ugly game I've seen in quite a while. I think this was the worst game I've ever seen Ty Lawson play. Neither team shot well, but both teams played hard.
    • [1] reply
    • Oh yeah. I watched it! haha. Can't believe Landry missed those two free throws at the end and Biedrins made his two! Fun game to watch. Both teams have a lot of potential.

Really bad shooting though, by both teams. Ugly is right!
      • [1] reply
  • Mavs lost to Bobcats! WTF! I didn't even know there was a team called Bobcats before this season!

    Where's Dirk Nowitzki!?!?
    • [1] reply
    • Dirk is out, I think it's a knee. If I remember correctly, he'll miss 6-8 weeks, but I could be wrong.

The Bobcats set a record for lowest winning percentage last season....and they are owned by Michael Jordan. Losing to the Bobcats isn't good.
  • So, looks like the Lakers just made it official - They signed Mike D'Antoni.

Kinda bummed we didn't get Phil back after all the talk, but I didn't get my hopes up too much.
    • [1] reply
    • I am a bit surprised by the hiring. I don't really see D'Antoni and Kobe being a good fit for the long term. Of course, it will be great for Nash, but this isn't the same Nash who played for D'Antoni several years ago. I don't see Steve Blake as a guard that can run the D'Antoni offense. You will probably see Chris Duhon get a lot more playing time though.

The reason I don't think this signing will work with Kobe is because this style of offense depends on running and gunning, which is not a style that makes Kobe the focus of the offense.
      • [1] reply
  • The Nuggets just can't shoot. We need to trade one of our 15 athletic guys for a shooter like Mike Miller or Kyle Korver. And I don't know what's happened to Ty Lawson. I thought he'd be an all-star this year, but he's been in a deep funk so far this season.
    • [1] reply
    • The Warrior's Curry and Thompson are shooting bad also. Weird. Their two best pure shooters and they look like stiffs so far. I'm thinking it can't last.

      • [1] reply
  • Here's a story for you...Some kid at a small college in Iowa breaks the college scoring record with 138 points in a game:
Jack Taylor scores 138 points for Grinnell - The Denver Post

He took 108 shots...I wonder how many assists he had?
    • [1] reply
    • That's crazy. I can't imagine what that game would have looked like.

  • My Nuggets won their second straight on the road to pull even at 6-6, comong back from being down by 17 against Min. The Nuggets have only played 3 home games, with 9 on the road. Using the Doug Moe method, the Nuggets are +3. OKC is only +1 and the Lakers are -3 and the Warriors are +2.

We finally play two straight home games, starting with the most widely anticipated rematch of the season against Tim's Warriors.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • Shoot. I'm going to miss that game. I have a date. ( In case in the unlikely event she ever see's this, you are definitely worth missing the game of the year gorgeous! )

Klay Thompson had a breakout game for him last night, shooting wise. Finally! believe it or not, it was his first game of the year where he shot above 50%. Curry also shot well.

Lakers lost another one and their next game is in Memphis who are a very good team this year.

Happy Thanksgiving Kurt and other Warriors.

By the way, where the he ll is TL at? Was he banned from the off topic? How can I completely enjoy the Lakers' losing season without him around?

      • [1] reply
  • I likemthenway you think my friend. I was so excited when the heat picked up Ray Ray

With Harden starting for the Rockets now, Imsee the Heat taking the east and winning another ring..

Don't see Lakers getting it together
  • Has the NBA always had no games on Thanksgiving?
    • [1] reply
    • Nope, but didn't last year or this year. They always seem to have a couple games on Xmas though.
  • I guess the Lakers need a new new coach.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • And tonight is the final chapter of:

Will the Nuggets sweep the Warriors? Or are the Nuggets looking ahead with the second of a back-to-back road game against the evil Lakers Friday night? Will Ty Lawson finally hit some free throws? Will Stephan Curry finally hit a bucket at all? Is it Bogut vs. Nugget?
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • Geesh. The W's better win at least one. I think they have a couple guys who match up well with the physical play of the Nuggets in Landry, Ezeli and sometimes Lee. I think it really comes down to them making shots. If Curry and Thompson can both shoot well the W's should win tonight. That hasn't happened much this year though.

Bogut is not going to play and may not for a while. :/

By the way Kurt, Barnes has been having a real good rookie year. Here's a view of a recent dunk by him from a few different angles:

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=Vm4UQPTORfE

By the way, it's not as big a game as the Warriors/Nuggets rematch, but the Spurs play the Heat tonight in Miami. Should be interesting.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
      • [1] reply
  • Nuggets start slow, but end the half on a 26-8 run. IMO, Faried makes a big difference. When he's in the game he somehow seems to give the entire team energy.
  • Congrats Tim...Another fun game. We came up 1/10th of a second short.
    • [1] reply
    • Wow! Crazy game and ending. These two teams are pretty evenly matched. It will be interesting to see where they end up at the end of the year.
  • Not only did we lose to the Lakers, but Dwight "Moe" Howard even hit a 3 pointer in the closing seconds to rub salt into the wound.
    • [1] reply
    • The second three pointer of his career!

What a great win, great shooting by both Jamison and Meeks.

About time Antawn found his shot, Meeks was on fire too 7/8 from 3-point if my memory serves correctly?

      Great win.
      • [1] reply
  • The Knicks will look for real until June when the Heat beat them 4-1 in the Eastern Conference Finals.
    • [1] reply
    • Haha. Probably right. I bet the games will be close though and interesting which I wouldn't have guessed before the season started.
      • [1] reply
  • I'm a BIG Lakers fan, but at the same time I am a HUGE fan of the game of basketball.

It's disappointing to see a team with THIS MUCH TALENT lose this amount of games. Yeah, there's a new system, new coach, new players, injuries etc. But even then, if you separate these stars to their own team, I bet they would all be over .500 for the teams that they're in.

Hopefully with Pau resting, and Nash recovering, they would be able to make a difference when they return.

My favorite PLAYER though, happens to be with the Clippers CP3. He changed that WHOLE team around. Wow.

Kyrie Irving has been phenomenal. He's only improving from here on out.

When it comes to contenders, I seriously think that the NY Knicks and the Memphis Grizzlies are one of my biggest surprises.
    • [1] reply
    • I feel you, I'm a Laker fan myself.

However, with this being said I don't think Nash is going to solve all the problems. The problem to me is not so much offense, it's defense and rebounding. Having both Howard and Gasol and were getting out-rebounded?

With Nash back, he will be a great addition on the offensive end, however like I said the problems seem to be rebounding and defense, both of which he won't be any help on.

We need a decent, FAST pint-guard to back Nash up. With the game having so many athletic point guards, Nash doesn't stand a chance, forcing a lot of different defensive mis-matches, and this is where were getting killed.
      • [1] reply
  • Well, my exams are just done and I see that the Mavs are getting toasted. Tim's team is having a good run.

I don't think my team will make the playoff if they keep playing like this. So, see ya guys next year.
    • [1] reply
    • Hey Mavs aren't bad at all. There's no Dirk. I LOVE OJ Mayo too. They're not completely out.
      • [1] reply
  • Cool thread! Love seeing the Lakers mess and let's hope they continue to lose. What the Warriors are doing right now is pretty incredible. What a great game in Miami last night.

OKC, Spurs and Memphis look real strong in the West once again.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • For D'Antoni to say that the Post isn't an effective offense is the dumbest thing ever.
    • [1] reply
    • I wonder if he told Kareem or Akeem or Wilt that?
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I was glad when the Lakers hired D'Antoni because I knew his style of offense wasn't suited for that team.

Result: Lakers will suck! That's always good.

They are actually now tied with my team, the Kings.
  • It was hard to watch the Lakers/Knicks game.

    The first quarter was embarrassing.

Looked for a few moments in the fourth they may be able to pull it back, then of course they blew it (as usual)

    D'Antoni is a complete idiot.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Hahaha this is awesome. Something to talk about OUTSIDE of internet marketing. That Stephen Curry guy has been BEASTIN. I just hope his glass ankles will be okay =D.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • Don't jinx it man! I've been worried about his ankles all year!

Curry has been playing great ball the last few weeks except for that Miami game. David Lee is having an all star year also. I'm looking forward to the game Sat against Atlanta! I'm not sure why the W's have a problem with the Magic btw. :/

      • [1] reply
  • Not that I want to help either the Lakers or the Knicks, but it seems a trade of Pau for Amare, once he's heathy, may benefit both teams. Amare, Nash and "No D" Antoni worked well together.
  • Geez...The Nuggets don't hit a single shot outside the paint until 38 seconds left in the loss against Portland. This includes a record breaking 0 of 22 from 3pt range.

We really didn't play poorly, but when you can't hit any jumpers and shoot about 64% from the free throw line, you won't win many games.
    • [1] reply
    • Yikes! 0-22?! That is a record that may never be broken. You mentioned before they may need to trade some of their inside players for some shooters and I'm thinking you may be right now. The Nuggets definitely have talent, so it can be done.

      • [1] reply
  • Lakers vs Warriors - What a game!
  • Steve Nash looked real good . He's a big focal point to the team.
    • [1] reply
    • Few clutch shots too. Didn't really expect too much from him BUT he really did play well.

Should be a good game against the Knicks now he's back. Hopefully not a repeat of what happened last time.
  • Nuggets whip the Lakers 126 - 114 in a rare home game. Ty Lawson again shows Nash can't cover him. Ty gets 17 points and 14 assists.

Despite the Nuggets record, we're the only team in the NBA with just a single home loss. I can't wait until our schedule starts to even out.
    • [1] reply
    • Man Faried was unstoppable out there, it's like he was doing what he wanted.

Then Brewer heats up and starts dropping 3's at will.

I still have no idea what D'Antoni is doing, World Peace gets fouled out again, and there is no sign of Jamison? Seems like as soon as he got going, he just doesn't get the minutes any more.

At least they got the W against the Knicks on Christmas..

  • Any of you guys just watch the OKC vs Dallas game? That shot by Collison was ridiculous.

  • Nuggets lose at home to the Timberwolves a few nights ago in one of the worst performances of the year. They somewhat make up for it by going tacos against the Jazz.

Better yet, the Nuggets go tacos against the Lakers in LA tonight, beating them 112-105 and once again proving that Nash can't defend Ty Lawson.

Note: If the Nuggets score 110 points or more, local Taco Bells give 4 tacos for $1. I love it when the Nuggets are close to 110 points at home and the home crowd starts chanting "We Want Tacos!".
    • [ 1 ] Thanks

    • Nash has a lot of trouble with Lawson and a bunch of other people. I think the main problem with the Lakers though is: 1. Coach D'Antoni 2. Kobe Bryant. Well, you might want to add the owners son who making decisions now it seems.

  • That's to keep you guys awake on the east coast after watching the eastern conference games that put most watchers asleep by halftime. BTW, good win against the Heat.

    • Well, the good news for Kobe is he will get even more shots and have another chance at the scoring leader for the season. Sorry Josh. Do you have a second favorite team?
  • as;lfjadlfjslfjadslfjdaslfj. -____-.

The whole "age" factor is a bunch of BS. New York is an old team, look at them? Dallas won and they were an old team.

Clearly, it's just a bunch of talented players meshed up in system that doesn't work for the them.

    Damn this. Anyways, go Seahawks/Ravens?
    • [1] reply
  • Damn, anyone catch the Spurs/Lakers game from the other night?

What a game for Earl Clarke! The Lakers actually played with some passion for the final minutes that remained in the fourth quarter, at one point it looked like they could win (until Metta blew back to back possessions).

If only they could play like that EVERY quarter. I'm sure Earl will get some more minutes against the Thunder tonight to see whether D'Antoni has really just been sleeping on him, or if it was in-fact a fluke.

Quoting Mike himself - "I'm an idiot for not playing him" LOL!
  • I think this video pretty much sums up the Lakers this year. Nash: armpit/armpit, then Meta Tag uses the same towel on his face.

  • I caught it and it was a good game. Especially the result!

The Spurs were just trying to give that game away and the Lakers still couldn't win. Sounds like the rest of the league should get ready for the greatness of Earl Clarke!

Here's hoping for another loss tonight and further sliding under 500.
  • And my Nuggets go tacos against Tim's Warriors, 116 - 105 to beat the W's for the 3rd time this season. It would be the fourth if the last game was 1/10th of a second longer.
    • [1] reply
    • Yep. The Nuggets seem to have the W's number. The Warriors looked to be in control of the game at the end of the 3rd quarter and then they get blown out by 20 in the 4th!? Turrrible! as Barkley would say. I hope they don't meet in the playoffs.
      • [1] reply
  • Hey Tim...

Better watch out, the Nuggets just caught the W's in the standings, with the Nuggets +7 in the Doug Moe system and the W's +5. Memphis is also +5 and in the 4th playoff spot.
    • [1] reply
    • Yeah, I am worried about the Nuggets. They are a solid team that gives the Warriors a hard time every time. I would rather face any other team in the playoffs except for the Spurs.

By the way Kurt, I am dating a lady who is my dream match because, for one, she is a big time Warrior fan! She watches all the games on TV and if she can't watch them she listens to them. And she knows the game inside and out! Very knowledgeable about the NBA as a whole also.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Ahhh. I turned on the Laker game in the 4th just in time to see them blow a good sized lead and lose to the Suns. What a way to end the day.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • A Laker loss is almost as good as a Nuggets win and I got both tonight.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Yup, and heres me thinking the Lakers finally turned it around with the emergence of Kobe Johnson..
  • My Nuggets SPANKED the Bulls 128 - 96 last night. Faried showed why he's called The Manimal, dominating Noah.

BTW, anyone else notice the Nuggets are 15-3 in 2013?
    • [1] reply
    • I've noticed the Nuggets are ahead of the Warriors now, thanks to a 3 game losing streak by the Ws. I did notice the Nuggets easily beat the Bulls who destroyed the Warriors a couple weeks ago also. :/
      • [1] reply
  • The Nuggets are on fire right now. Watched the end of the game in Cleveland last night on NBA TV. Don't know why they're so good but they just keep winning. Warriors not looking good lately. Where's that road magic they had earlier?

Hoping for a Miami Heat blowout over the Lakers today.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • That would help me deal with the warriors playing so bad. I do expect the Heat to blow them out. The Heat killed the Clippers two nights ago.

      • [1] reply
  • Well, it was a close game until the end then the Heat pulled away and Lebron is just a freak. Miami is on a roll now and if they play like this in the playoffs, it's another title for them.

How about that 3OT game between Boston and Denver yesterday? Two hot teams going at it and the Celtics pulled it out.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • The Nuggets didn't play well that game, but they did play hard. Gave the C's all they wanted, especially with the Nuggets coming off a back to back game, both on the road.

BTW, the Celtics are playing much better without Rondo. Sometimes it's addition by subtraction.

What's up with the W's sleeved jerseys?

    • Lakers rarely play well in Denver, even when they're good. No surprise there from me.

2 wins 6 losses in the last 4 seasons in Denver, not counting the playoffs. You've got that Mile High advantage!

  • I was checking the score as I have a rooting interest in seeing the Lakers miss the playoffs. NBA TV had Jazz/Celtics which was a great game. From the highlights, it looked like a dunkfest in Denver at the expense of the Lakers. I hear the Nuggets almost never lose at home. Now, let's go Houston!
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Too bad for the lakers I wish it was still Phil Jackson who's coaching them.

  • Going to see the Warriors play my team the Kings tonight. Hope both teams put on a great show. I was so sad to see the Lakers beat down in OKC last night. C'mon, Utah don't give up now!
    • [1] reply
    • That was a sloppy game but it had an exciting ending as most Ws and Kings games have been recently. Nice win for the Ws and its good to see Thompson make a game winning shot. Maybe that will get him back on track. He's been awful most of the year.
  • C'mon Tim!

We need the W's, Jazz and Rockets to keep winning so we can shut the Lakers out of the playoffs.

Who would have thought during all the off-season hype about the Lakers being the best team in the West that the W's would have a better record?
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • The Ws have been struggling lately but are showing signs of getting back on track. You know I would love to see the Lakers not make the playoffs. They are going to have to scramble to make it. Even if they do make it to the 7th or 8th spot I can't see the Lakers beating the Spurs or the Thunder. Of course, the way the Ws are playing now I can't see them doing well in the playoffs either, although they still have time to get hot.

      • [1] reply
  • Man, what a great game last night between the Warriors and Kings. It was LOUD at the end. Didn't need to hear the "lets go Sonics" chants though! That's just wrong!

Was hoping to get a pleasant surprise with the Hornets beating the Lakers but the 83-2 run they went on in the 4th squashed that.
  • My Nuggets have been playing very well lately. After whipping the Clips by 15, we're on a 7 game winning streak.

Just before this, we had a 9 game streak followed by a small stretch were we went 1-3 on the road. Even during that stretch we played well, losing one game at Boston in triple OT and another by a single point.

The sad part is, it's still OKC, SA and Miami. Denver, IND, Memphis and the Clippers are merely the best of the rest.
    • [1] reply
    • Warriors lost to Houston at home tonight. They are still not playing well at all. It's mostly bad offense and just sloppy all around play. At least they are playing aggressive defense. I can't see them doing too well in the playoffs the way they are playing now, if they even make the playoffs that is.

Interesting game tonight: The Trailblazers give the Spurs their worst lost at home in the Tim Duncan era and their second worst lost ever at home! 136 to 106. Lillard had another great game and should be ROTY.

Plus, Deron Williams broke the NBA record for 3s in a half with 9!
  • Kobe at 34, has been AMAZING. Wow. Two games in a row 40+ points and 12 assist. In addition to that, his late game performance. Woowwww

    • Hit some big shots to keep us in that one, I swear these past few games have been really bad for my health..

  • Memphis has to be the most under-the-radar team in the NBA. My Nuggets have won 10 straight and haven't really gained any ground on Memphis.

I think the Grizzlies are something like 12-1 since trading Rudy Gay. This seems to be another case of "addition by subtraction".
    • [1] reply
    • Yeah, they are a solid talented team with a great frontcourt. Should be a good game tonight in Denver!

Hey Kurt. Do you remember the Lakers winning 33 in a row in 72? I remember that streak. It looks like The Heat could beat it. The rest of their schedule looks pretty soft with only a couple tough games. I do hope somebody steps up, has a great game and beats them. Maybe the Spurs.

      • [1] reply
  • Nuggets win a BIG game over the Grizzlies, who had won 14 out of 15 coming in. Not only is the win big, but it gives the Nuggest the tie breaker over the Griz, winning the season series 3-1.

During our 11 game winning streak, we've beaten the Clippers, OKC, Memphis and NYK. Like the home crowd chanted during the Knicks game:

    • [ 1 ] Thanks

    • Good win Kurt! Yeah, your team is playing really well. I wish I could say the same about my Warriors. Another terrible game tonight. Their worst at home for sure as the Bulls destroy them for the second time this year two days after the Bulls were destroyed by the Kings. :/ To be honest, the Ws don't look like a playoff team now. I'm not sure if they can turn it around. They have been in a bad funk for about two months I would say and I am starting to question Jackson as a coach again.

  • Heat overmatch Bucks as win streak soars to 21.. LeBron James and Chris Bosh combined to score 56 points as the Heat defeated the Bucks 107-94.
  • Some great games and fantastic finishes tonight. The Heat extend the winning streak to 23 with a win in Boston and the Nuggets pull out a win in OT against the Bulls. Tough call but clearly basket interference by Noah nullifying a potential game winner. And why were the Bulls wearing Celtics uniforms and why were the Nuggets wearing Warriors uniforms?

A great night in the NBA capped off by a Lakers blow out in Phoenix.
    • [ 2 ] Thanks
    • [2] replies
    • Yes, a good night except for the Heat winning. The Warriors are giving me hope with their last two road wins. Some of their best defense all year led by Bogut in the middle and good shooting also. I wish the Nuggets and the Heat would play now. They are two hot teams. Boston blew it tonight!
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • Because the Bulls were celebrating St Patty's day a day late.

Because those are the Nuggets "alternative" jerseys and actually are a throwback using the Denver "skyline" design of the 1980s. "Alternative" jerseys make fans buy another jersey. It's all marketing.

Nuggets are red hot. We won 9 in a row. Then lost 3 out of 4 when both Galo and Igoudala were hurt, and now have won another 12 in a row. IOW, we've won 22 out of our last 25, only losing when we were missing two starters. And we're doing it without a single all star.

...But the Grizzlies keep winning too, so we still haven't caught them. That team gets no respect.

I think the Nuggets will have a tough time tonight in OKC, with the game being the second of a back to back on the road.
  • Yes, I was just messing around. I figured they were alternates but I've never seen the Green unis worn by the Bulls. Just doesn't look right. The Kings have terrible road alts this year with checkerboard patterns down the sides. Almost worse than their play on the court.

Tough one in OKC tonight. Don't see Denver winning, but should be high scoring and entertaining. Have to admit I can't name a player on the Nuggets yet they're one of the best teams in the West this year.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • Nuggets beat OKC in OKC by 10 points, extending their winning streak to 13. I'll take it! And 8 of the 13 wins are against teams that would be in the playoffs as of now.

This is the second time the Nuggets beat OKC during the streak and win the season series 3-1.

The Nuggets are also 3-1, and hold the tie breaker, against the Clippers, Grizzlies, Houston and Golden State, the teams closest in the playoff standings.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I was a Miami fan until the playoffs.. I stopped watching basketball last year after all the bad calls the refs made against OKC. Just seems like basketball is rigged nowadays.

    • Yupp!

The amount of travels LeBron gets away with, and the amount of "foul calls" he gets given his way is ridicoulous. LeBron should be thanking the officials for the ring he got last year, they pretty much handed it to him - either that or he's got them on the pay roll
  • Memphis is one team not being talked about...another is the Spurs. Even with the Heat's 23 game winning streak, the Heat and the Spurs have basically the same record. And, the Spurs are playing in the West.

I wonder if the Heat would have their winning streak if they were playing in the West, where 5 of the top 6 teams in the NBA are?
    • [2] replies
    • Nice win against OKC
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • I really doubt it. Boston almost beat them without Garnet or Rondo. I think the Spurs will play them before they reach the record but the Heat have the easiest remaining schedule in the league I believe.

      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Yes, big win for Denver in OKC. Didn't realize they won the season series. The Nuggets are a bad matchup for the Thunder.

Warriors in San Antonio tonight where they haven't won in years. The Kings beat the Clippers last night, didn't see that coming.
  • #14 in a row for the Nuggets, as we stole this game. Down by 5 with 14 seconds left, somehow we pulled it out. This win was border-line miraculous, out-scoring the 76ers 11-2 to end the game and win by 1.

Ty "Ty-No-Mite" Lawson and Wilson "Ill Will" Chandler were both out with injuries and the 76ers outplayed the very sluggish Nuggets for 47 minutes. But we didn't give up and the game had one of the most exciting finishes I can remember.

    • Well, 15 in a row now by the Nuggets! They have not only caught up to and passed Memphis finally, they have also passed the Clippers!
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • The Nuggets streak ends at 15. NO played very well and the Nugs were sluggish again. These past few games really show how valuable Ty Lawson is to the Nuggets, who has been out.

A little trivia: The 15 game streak ties the fanchise record set back in 1969-1970 when the Nuggets were the Denver Rockets of the ABA. That year, the Denver Rockets were lead by 20 year old Spencer Haywood, who averaged 30 points and almost 20 rebounds a game. Haywood's 19.5 rebounds per game is the ABA record.

Things don't get easier for the Nuggets, as their next game is in SA against the Spurs. Hopefully Ty Lawson will return soon. We're just not the same without him.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks

    • That's too bad Kurt, but it was an amazing run for the Nuggets and they are a team to be reckoned with in the playoffs.

Now I just hope someone beats the Heat before they break the record. The Bulls and the Spurs should have a good shot. I feel kind of weird rooting against the Heat since they will break the Lakers record and the Lakers are my NBA nemesis, but that record is something special and I'm just not sure I want the Heat to have instead of the team that included Wilt the Stilt, The Logo, Elgin Baylor, Gail Goodrich, etc... That was a hell of a team! Are the Heat as good? I don't think so.
      • [1] reply
  • And Tim...one more thing.

Good job on handing the Lakers their 3rd straight loss.

    • Man, that game was terrible.

At one point in the fourth it looked like they had a chance to come back like they did the last time they met, but not this time.

Fairly decent attempt at at a comeback but as usual its too late. If they can get a come back like that going, they shouldn't be in that position to begin with.

And another thing, everyone wants Pau back, until he's back..The amount of times he missed open jump shots or even passed on open looks was ridiculous.
  • Yes, too bad the Nuggets ended their streak. The Hornets have been playing better lately along with the Kings and Wizards.

Loved the Warriors dominance of the Lakers last night. I don't care what anyone says Dwight Howard is no where near the best center in the league. He's slow and appears to half ass it most of the time. Got close in the end but it never looked like the Warriors would lose that game.

I think Dallas has a good shot at the last playoff spot. Hopefully the Lakers will drop another few games. Utah is toast.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • GRRRRRRR!

Ty Lawson's "bruised" heal is really a "a complete plantar fascia tear" and he could be out for an extended period of time.

After watching the games without him, he's easily the Nuggets MVP. We just aren't the same team without him.
  • I know, I haven't been here in a long time, but just watched the Mavs game. Mavs did a 15-1 run at the end with Dirk making a 3pt shot with like 4 seconds to go. If we beat the Lakers, we might just make the playoffs!
  • Didn't see the Mavs game but glad they won. Rooting for Dallas and Utah wins to knock the Lakers out of the playoffs. Hopefully the Kings can do their part today.
  • Good news: Nuggets beat Jazz and Mavs, helping Tim's Ws playoff chances. Nuggets have Houston next.

Bad News: Not only is Ty Lawson out (our best player), our second best player Danilo Gallinari was injured with what looks like a serious knee injury. Not what I was hoping for heading into the playoffs. GRRRRRRR!
    • [1] reply
    • Wow! That is bad news. Sorry to hear that Kurt.
      • [1] reply
  • Yes, looks like a torn ACL from the rumors last night. Don't mind Denver winning but they also knocked Utah down a notch and Lakers back in the 8th spot. Hopefully, all will get rectified tonight!
  • Nuggets are hot topic lately and I'm glad to see them doing well. Many are comparing them to 2004 Pistons and I can see why, though I think they are playing more exciting, fast paced basketball. I actually like that type of teams and I actually hope Nuggets make a decent run into playoffs.

I'd actually like to see Spurs get their final championship in Timmey era, but that won't happen, they are too old, burdened with injuries. If not sooner, OKC will beat them in finals again...and then we have a repeat from last year MIA-OKC, with Miami winning. Which is OK by me, I kinda like LBJ now (wasn't a fan of him before) and Miami as a team looks so well rounded and powerful atm.

Although, it will be interesting to see how they do against NYK, if they face-off in the conference finals, it should be an awesome series.

While I do believe Miami will defend, I'm still looking forward to playoffs.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • The Nuggets beat the Spurs by 10, despite being down 14-0 to start the game. This ties the season series with the Spurs 2-2.

What's interesting is, other than tying Spurs, the Nuggets have won the season series against every other team in playoff contention in the West.
    • [2] replies
    • I watched some of the second half. Nuggets looking good against an always tough Spurs team. Warriors playing better now finally. Should be a good series if they end up playing each other. Can't wait for the playoffs!

    • Just watched the replay, impressive. George Karl is one of the most underappreciated coaches. I'm not even mad they beat my favorite team (since 90's Bulls), they are just so fun to watch and easy to like.

Oh...and dat Kobe. I was never a fan of his nor Lakers, but you have to respect the guy for his unrelenting will to win. 34 years old, god-knows how many injuries, still manages to score 47 in clutch game like that.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Not easy being a Kings fan either. We get to find out next week if the team is staying in Sacramento or being sold to an ownership group moving them to Seattle. Talk about tension!

Nuggets almost have the top spot in the West. Pretty amazing. Utah still has a good chance of knocking the Lakers out of the playoffs. Next week will be fun.

  • KOBE! (swissh)

Damn, the Mamba went all out in that game.

It was a GREAT game to watch from an offensive point of view, with a few defensive highlights to top it off.

    • Well, the Lakers have two tough games left, Spurs and Rockets, and are ahead of the Jazz by 1 game. The Jazz have one tough game, Memphis, and one fairly easy one, Timberwolves. So it will likely come down to the last day to see who gets the 8th spot. Season ends Wednesday.

  • Yup Utah have the tie braker, and word just in from Gary Vitti Kobe is out for at least 6-9 months with a Third Degree Achilles tendon rupture.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • What a game last night and yes, a badly officiated game. Warriors could have easily won. Kobe is done for a while and you have to wonder if he'll play at all even next year. I don't feel sorry for the Lakers though. Utah should grab that last spot now, especially since they own the tie breaker.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Hey Tim....

Looks like it's me and you.

It should be a fun series...good luck.

Th injury bug has really hit us. Kenneth Faried has been out with a sprained ankle. He's expected to return soon, but it will be interesting to see how well he can play.

The good news is, Ty Lawson looks like he's healthy and ready to go.

And, last year I brought up Kenneth Faried as a rookie to look out for...seems we have another this year. Evan Fournier is a 20 year old rookie from France that hasn't gotten much of a chance to play until lately, due to the Nuggets injuries. But, he's looked very good. George Karl has said all year he liked Fournier, but we haven't been able to see it until now. Fournier is being compared to Manu Ginobili.

BTW, we were 38-3 at home this year and are on a 23 game winning streak at home.

    • I hope it is a good series Kurt. It will be a tough one for the Warriors. Curry has been super hot lately, hopefully some of the other guys will give him some help.

  • lakers got seventh seed and will play san antonio on the 21st. Tough road for LA. But that should be better than OKC in the first round.
  • Warriors/Denver should be a good series, although I definitely see Denver coming out on top. Nobody was talking about the Nuggets this year, and yet quietly they almost grabbed the top spot in the West.

Lakers end up with the 7th seed after all that! Well, they had a lot of help with that too. The series with the Spurs could go for a while as SA tends to drop games in the first round. They should advance though.

OKC/Houston will be intriguing with Harden playing his former team. Not really interested in the East playoffs as we all know who will be in the Finals.

And for the Kings, the wait continues...
  • I'm looking forward to seeing a good series between OKC and Houston, but honestly the best match up in the west will be the second round imo.

OKC vs Clippers, should be an exciting one.

    • I'm taking Memphis over LAC.
  • Good game Tim. I don't think either team played well, but both played hard.

The Nuggets bench was the difference, with the Old Man Andre Miller killing it in the 4th. You hear about playing above the rim, but Miller gets it done below the net.

Hopefully Lee and Faried will both be back Tuesday. I hate injuries.

    • I missed the game Kurt. We taped it and were just starting to watch it later when someone walked in and said "Warriors lost by 2". What a spoiler. But actually it's a good thing I didn't watch. They didn't play all that well and Lee got injured and is out of the playoffs. :/ It's going to real difficult now.
      • [2] replies
  • Well, a day of blowouts. OKC, SA, IND, MIA all won and all home teams won the first game. Hopefully we'll get a competitive series but with the injury to Lee, the Nuggets should easily take care of business.

  • And that last shot at the buzzer almost went in. Imagine if it did.

Very entertaining game. Watched it mostly as the Lakers got blown out at home and had guys on the court I've never heard of. There will be a few playoff series that will end this weekend but Warriors/Nuggets could go on for a while.

    • Curry got hot last night. Again. It's gotten to the point that I expect him to get in one of his hot streaks every game ever since that 54 point game against the Knicks a couple months ago. He might have a bad game here and there but he's been very consistent the second half of the season. Fun to watch too. Bogut played well also as did Jack, Landry and Green. It should be a good game Tuesday when the Nuggets get back home.

  • It doesn't get much better than now! Great series to watch and now the Warriors are in the drivers seat. Denver really tough at home though. Can't wait until Game 5 tomorrow night.

And the Sacramento Kings are staying put thanks to the NBA relocation committee turning down the sale to a group from Seattle. How about that!
  • I look forward to seeing Steph Curry going off tonight.

    • Bad game for the Warriors. I could tell they were going to have problems in the first few minutes. They just didn't have the same intensity that they had for the last three games. It was like they were just letting up because they were ahead 3-1. I didn't see the same desire and intensity until the 4th and by then it was too late. Big mistake. They let the Nuggets off the ropes and gave them life and hope. Thursday might be the best game of the series.

Will Golden State collapse in the west?

    Is Mark Jackson crying wolf?

If Blake Griffin stays hurt, the Clippers can forget it.

Houston is making a valiant effort but I can't see OKC allowing them to win the series - even without Westbrook.

    • Yes, MJ is crying wolf. Let's not forget in the game MJ was complaining about, the Ws were called for two flagrant fouls and the Nuggets zero. Bogut's cheap shot on Faried was bogus.

MJ is just doing a "Phil Jackson" and trying to influence the refs. I don't blame him for trying.

  • I think those were stupid comments by Mark Jackson and unnecessary. The Warriors still have the upper hand and have a great chance to finish off Denver tonight at "Roaracle." They better because I don't see them winning Game 7 at Denver.

Yah, Knicks are in trouble now. Guess the funeral garbs wasn't a good idea. OKC should still be fine but can't take Houston lightly. Bulls/Nets, is that series over yet? I also heard the Pacers and Hawks are still playing.

  • Congrats Tim and good luck against the Spurs. (?)

The Nuggets didn't play well, but didn't give up and actually had a chance to win the game. The difference came down to free throw shooting, a weakness of the Nuggets all season long, and a strength of the Ws.

For my Nuggets, we are the second youngest team in the NBA, so we should be able to improve just by getting more experience. We also can have long stretches where we can't score and need to improve our outside shooting.

A month or two ago, there was a rumor that we'd make a strong push to sign Kyle Korver in the off season. I think he'd make a great addition to the team and would really open things up for the rest of the team. Historically, he's the most accurate 3 pt shooter in NBA history, just what we need.

    • Thanks Kurt. It was another strange game. The ending was cringe worthy for a Warrior fan. Unbelievable turnovers! Hopefully they got that stuff out of their system. I do like the Nuggets and Karl. Faried is a fun player to watch and I certainly don't think of him as a bad guy at all. Seems like a great guy in fact. Something tells me these two teams will be playing in the playoffs a lot in the future.
  • Condolences to Kurt and congrats to Tim.

A young Nugget ball club should be a force in the western conference for years to come - same with the upstart Warriors.

If David Lee returns I can see GS beating San Antonio in less than seven games.

The Celtic magic was not available for the Celts yesterday as they fall to the Knicks in 6 games at home and a valient Rocket team does the same at the hands of a Westbrook-less OKC Thunder.

The Bulls and the Nets will play game #7 today at 8 eastern and then the conference semi-final match ups will be set.

    Enjoy!!

  • That Warriors game was amazing at the end and with all those turnovers, it's like they were trying to give it away. Great series and glad to see the Warriors move on. Going to be tough against the Spurs. GS hasn't won in SA in a little while.

All four games were series enders last night. I like Memphis to upset OKC and unfortunately the Spurs will be too much for GS. Miami will win against Nets/Bulls rather easily and the Knicks/Pacers series will be close. Could see Indiana winning that series.
  • What a great couple of games. I hated seeing the Warriors lose after playing so well 95% of the game, but I loved seeing Chicago win in Miami.
  • Well, it looks like Miami won't go 16 and 0 in this years playoffs but I can not see Chicago lasting more than 6 games.

Tim, your Warriors can take the Spurs out if they win the 2nd game in SA.

But time will tell on how these series will turn out per our predictions.

Tim's Warriors get to live another day after escaping on Sunday verses the Spurs.

Duncan and Tony Parker went something like 13 for 40 and it's really hard for them to win any game in which their two main people shoot so poorly.

Mark Jackson has done a wonderful job with a team that's not even at full strength - without the services of David Lee.

      Congrads Tim!

  • Awesome game today at Oracle! The Spurs were dominating most of the game and the Warriors took it to them in OT. All tied going back to SA. What a series and I hope it goes 7.
  • Looks like there'll be a NEW Western Conference Champion as Memphis comes back from 17 down to best the Blunder, I mean Thunder in overtime, in a crucial game 4 to go up 3 games to 1.

A young Keven Durant wilts down the stretch and Derrick Fisher commits a big turnover right after TNT shows highlights of him hitting that famous last second shot for my Lakers.

Miami continues to shut down an undermanned Chicago team and also leads their series 3 games to 1.

  • I've got:
    SA over Mem
    Miami over IND

SA and Memphis are the two most underrated teams this season. I'm picking SA because they are the better shooting team.

BTW, how come the second SA/MEM game is being played before the first Miami/IND game?
    • [1] reply
    • I was wondering the same thing. Weird schedule. After tonight's game SA/Mem don't play until Sat and Miami/Ind play again on Friday. I'm looking forward to tonight's game. Mem should make adjustments and make it a better game than #1.
  • Memphis had their chances.

After SA raced off to a 10-14 point lead I started looking at the movie "Breach" about the real life story of FBI traitor Robert Hanson starring Ryan Philippe who was tasked as a young FBI agent to keep a close watch on Hanson.

I would check back to the game on every commercial break but the game was not tight until about the 10 minute mark of the 4th.

About the 3 minute mark, when SA's lead was down to 3 or 4 SA missed about 7 shots in a row but so did Memphis.

Memphis had their chance to steal one in SA.

Now, Mem must protect their home court and get at least one of two remaining games in SA.

My prediction remains firm at Mem in 7.

    Enjoy!

Ps. I think Miami/IND play tonight and Friday and SA/Mem won't play again until the weekend.

I would have had Roy Hibbert in the game.

  • Indiana is looking like the better team in this series. They should be up 2-0 going home. Didn't realize they were this good and they have a real chance at beating the Heat. In fact, I think they will beat the Heat.
    • [1] reply
    • They do look like the better team. Deeper and the only match up they lose it seems is the one with James. I knew they had a chance but wasn't sure if they were really ready for Miami yet. Looks like they are ready. Hibbert is playing way better than he was in the regular season and George looks like a legit super star.

  • Oh man i found out this thread a little too late man!! I am a huge NBA fans and its disheartening to see how the Memphis unable to pull out a W in those 3 games, spurs are just that dam good. Pacers just as usual are so underrated, for some reason, they have not been talked alot this year, yet their roster are one of the strongest and deepest of all, Heat and pacers are two of the best defensive teams. Its exciting to watch them play.
  • Indiana has looked very solid throughout the playoffs...until tonight.

And hats off to Birdman. Last I saw he was 15-15 shooting in this playoff series against Indiana.

Birdman is kind of a goofball, but he's a good guy. The incident last year while he was with the Nuggets concerning the under age girl seems to be a case where Birdman was actually the victim and being blackmailed. The police have never released many details, but this seems to be the case at this point in time.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I'm back from the mighty city of Omaha Nebraska with another refrigerator magnate.

My uncle (father of the bride) took me on a tour of the city and showed me Buffet's home.

    Question???

Did Indiana only get Miami angry much like Chicago did in the 2nd round?

    I think so.

All the pressure is on Indiana for game #4 cause if they loose this one they'll be down 3 games to 1 and that will be all she wrote.

As Dwayne Wade pointed out, if their turnovers are low and Bosh and/or Haslem are hitting their shots, the Heat are very hard to beat.

You're absolutely right Kurt, the Birdman (The Tattooed One) has turned out to be a fine addition to the Heat.

I can't see this series going more than 6 games.

    How about them Spurs?

San Antonio continues to force feed me humble pie as they keep getting by a young Memphis ball club and now lead the series 3 games to zip.

SA has tortured me into respecting them and Duncan is truly amazing as I haven't seen this much spring in his step in years.

Miami figures they better dispatch Indiana ASAP so that SA won't be well rested when they meet in the finals.

    Enjoy!

  • Fellows...

I woke up to catch Miami at the tail end of the game breaking streak at the end of the 3rd. (that's period not quarter)

Watched to see if INDY would claw into Miami's lead and make a game of it but it was not to be and therefore Miami leads the series 3-2 with the 6th game in INDY.

Mr. George looks like a real NBA superstar - and he is, but he got no help from his teammates and Mr. Stephenson is a real gamer and more per his sharp elbow that happened to meet with Mr. Wade's chin.

Kurt I think INDY should force Miami to sag on Hibbert ( a lot more ) but then they must hit enough of the jumpers as a response to the sag.

The King allegedly gave his teammates a "Win One For The Gipper" speech I think at the beginning of the 2nd half.

    BTW...

Miami severely needs to win game 6 in order to get about 5 maybe 6 days of rest for GAME 1 of the finals with SA.

He was a great competitor during his tenure in the NBA who got my respect.

    Guess what?

Miami ended INDY'S season last year in the 2nd round in game #6 - in INDY and the game 5 winner of an NBA series has won the series 84% of the time.

If the Heat move on it will be their 3rd trip in a row to the finals.

INDY needs big games from their 3 best players George, Hibbert and West - 3 of the top 60-75 players of the NBA.

Stephenson plays great at home but not on the road - will he show up tonight?

    BTW...

Birdman has been suspended for 1 game thanks to his unnecessary conflagration with Hansberry.

    Will it hurt the heat?

    Movie Time?

I have to take the kid to a movie date with her girl friends tonight and the movie starts at 07:30 EST and will be over about 09:30

The theater is only about 20 minutes away and...

I'll easily get home to see the start of the game and will have to leave to pick her up right about halftime.

If the game starts at 08:30 EST. it should be over about 11:00.

I should be able to see most of the 2nd half of the game.

Will history repeat itself or will there be game #7.

    • Hey also if you remember from last season, 2 players from the heat were suspended.

Indiana will not win this one, even tho it will be tough without birdman who was critical down low and also helped lebron a lot with the drives. Since lebron would drive, and hibbert would jump to try to stop him, he would just throw a sweet pass to birdman (hence the perfect field goal) these were easy buckets for the heat.

I see chris bosh stepping up this game, they need him too.

BTW i never even knew this forum had an nba thread. I would have been here a while ago haha.
  • Well, well well...

History won't be repeating itself as the Pacers extend the series to game #7.

Wade and Bosh were M.I.A. (total of 20 points) and if this continues in game #7 INDY will represent the east in the finals.

Amazingly (according to NBA.com) Miami was outscored by 22 points when Lebron was in the game?????

  • I'm taking the Spurs.

The wildcard is D Wade. If he's healthy, the Heat would be my pick, but I just don't think he's 100%. Spurs are big like IND, but have better shooters and more experience, and Parker was the second best player in the NBA this year, IMO.
    • [1] reply
    • Congrats to the Heat; Lebron James carried that team on his back this series!

It's definitely tough to pick the series between San Antonio and Miami. Miami, when everyone is playing their best, looks unbeatable and has all the big names and team chemistry to boot, but the way San Antonio steamrolled the Memphis Grizzlies shows me they have another level as well.

It's going to be a good one, folks.
  • - Miami goes a whopping 33 of 38 from the line and INDY goes only 14 of 20 - a huge 19 point difference with Lebron alone going 15 of 16 from the line.

    - James shuts down George and Miami shuts down INDY as 76 points is not going to get it done.

    - INDY coach keeps both Hibbert and George out of game in 2nd and that's when Miami established their lead - for good.

Marve was talking about they needed a blow but Reggie and Steve implored coach to put them back in ASAP - because they're young.

    - A young INDY turned the ball over 9 times in the 1st and they almost doubled Miami's 11 turnovers for the game with 21 big ones.

Kurt has a good point regarding Wade but if Bosh and/or Wade plays well, SA will be in big trouble - cause it seems like James does not have bad games.

    - It'll be a great contrast in styles but I can't see the finals going more than 6 games with Miami repeating - but I'd love to see it go 7.

    Enjoy!

Ps. Thanks Grant Hill and Jason Kidd.
  • As a Boston fan I really want that Spurs run over cHeat and that Ginobili plays at his real level, not this 10pts barely even walking mode.

But the fact is, that Bosh isnt playing very good atm, and if he gets his throw back, that will seriously affect Miami offensive scoring and tilts the tables towards the Heat.

I mean, Lebron will give his 25-30pts, that is a fact, so the game will break at other matchups Timmy - Bosh. Hope Tim gets his ring, he definately deserves it!

    Go Spurs!
  • No doubt, Shaq ticked me off.
He continued to do so throughout his career.

Howard? not so much. The kid was spoiled by the organization. And was the major factor to Stan van Gundys demise.
Yup, he was the most dominate big in the game, until the peripheral bs ( and injuries). He got really crap advice from his handlers.
I was thrilled to see Howard go to LA. Why not send the circus to the Clowns?

Your allegiances aside, think about it.
You are D12. Youre 28, with maybe 5 seasons left. You want a Ring. You want to be THE guy on the team (again...).
LA? nah, man. gettin old. Kobe's no fun. got no supporting cast.
Houston? Yeah,Man. Young team, got some talent, could win a couple rings. I would BE THE MAN (again..).
And in a couple years, maybe Back to O-town. (dont laugh, i know how the kid thinks, sorta )

As far as your wager? If I am wrong I will say so, and reveal the reason why I dont like the Fakers.( Its not as obvious as you think).

    Peace!
    Enjoy the finals!

  • Is it just me, or does it now seem like LeBron, Wade and Bosh teamed up because Wade knew that he was going to start slowing down soon due to injuries? In 2010, people thought that these three guys were teaming up to form a super team. But when you look at what's taken place, Wade has been on a steady decline and has become a true second option since then. Which ultimately lead to LeBron James having to carry the team anyways.
    • [1] reply
    • One thing to remember is that although all 3 were drafted the same year, Wade is on the wrong side of 30 and that's when your body starts to get defective, especially being an athlete. I think it should have been expected but he's still an amazing player and when he's healthy next season he'll be back to his superstar self.

  • Spurs hang around and then go right by Miami for a 92-88 Game 1 victory in front of a shocked
    Miami crowd.

    IMHO...

Miami played like they couldn't lose until they did.

    Most Interesting Game Stats:

Only 4 Spur turnovers. Miami had only 8.

Interesting enough Sean Tudor Carter, Miami was outscored by 11 when Wade was on the floor but he seemed to have a good game scoring 17 points on 7-15 from the field.

    - Too many Miami players tried to get off but only got out of their roles and hurt the team but the San Antone players stayed in their roles and it paid off big time.

    - Magic said...

The Heat played a good game and lost.

And he believes SA can get better but Miami can not.

    I say...

I think Mr. James should become a wee-bit more selfish as he only took 17 shots at the bucket.

The dude sometimes passes the ball when he's almost at point blank range as he dances around and through the defense of SA and most of the time a "slick" pass - instead of shooting.

The biggest question - in my mind is which coach can help his team play the better ball game and get to four wins first.

I'm not really sure what it is, but this year I can tell you the Nuggets played a team that was playing way better than they had 90% of the year and who then went on and gave the Spurs a very hard time. I bet the Nuggets would have given the Spurs a hard time also or at least play them tougher than Memphis did. The thing about firing Karl is, who is out there that is going to coach them better?

  • If LeBron James want to be mentioned with the champions like Jordan, Magic, Bird and even Kobe, this is his chance to solidify that place in history. IMO, if The Heat loses this series, no one can ever throw LBJ in the same sentence as the aforementioned greats. If the rest of the team isn't playing up to par, he's gonna have to come out with that killer instinct that he showed in game 6 of that series vs. the Celtics last season. You know...that killer instinct that guys like Jordan and Kobe have when it's time to take over a game instead of playing hot potato in hopes of boosting your assist stats.

I'm kind of glad that shot didn't matter as the Spurs won by four. Wonder why LeBron didn't shoot the ball on that last possession. Could easily see the Spurs winning this series. They are playing on a different level in the playoffs this year.
  • I missed most of the game.

I thought the game started at 09:00 EST but it started at 8.

I watched GOT with the kid until 10 and when I tuned into the games with about 7 minutes remaining, the Heat had already gone on their 35-3 run and put the game to bed.

The Heat's new mission is to return to Miami by winning at least 1 game in SA.

I remember when my Lakers returned to LA down 3-2 to the Pistons.

We won games 6 nd 7 to win the series 4 games to 3!!

    • I knew the Spurs would give Miami a hard time. The Spurs are Indiana with very good outside shooters. Lebron has not had a good series at all so far. Leonard, a second year player, has stopped him cold, along with some great team defense.

  • Flava-Flav style....

    WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!

The blowout began early in the 2nd half.

SA Saggy Defense Works To Perfection:

SA dared Lebron and Wade to shoot midrange jumpers and both shot only a combined 14 of 36 from the floor while Mr. James did not shoot a free throw - all game.

None of Miami's other players save Mike Miller did anything worth noting as he continued his torrid shooting going 5 for 5 from 3 point land.

    See The Three!

SA sank an NBA Finals record 16 3 pointers as Danny Green and Garry Neal incinerated the Heat scoring 27 and 24 respectively in a 113-77 beatdown of the defending world champs.

Earlier in the evening - before the game, I told the wife that the Heat does not get blown out.

I now stand corrected cause it was the 3rd worst beatdown in NBA Finals History.

It Reminded me of the Memorial Day Massacre the Celts put on the Lakers back in 87. (or was it Mothers Day?)

The big 3 of SA took the night off and let the young boys shine at home.

Wade looked particularly bad and old but perhaps the knee is bothering him.

    Heavy, heavy, heavy...

The pressure is clearly now on Miami.

"For to lose when down 2-1 - is to sign your own death warrant."

    -TL

Miami has always comeback with a vengeance after a loss but now?

    WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Enjoy!

  • I thought when Miami won game 2 by 20+ points, that'd be Miami's way of getting serious. I thought they would go ahead and get game 3. But damn....San Antonio 1'upped them by winning game 3 by 30+. LOL

    • That was a beatdown by all accounts. Leonard has been amazing and the SA shooters seem like they cannot miss a 3, that was like 15 ish in that game which is unprecedented. Lebron hasn't stepped up yet which is why the Heat are down, but all they really need to do is win 1 on the road and then defend home court.

It's crazy to think that SA pulled that off yesterday without Tony Parker for most of the second half.

  • Tonight is do or die for Miami.
    • [1] reply
    • Not necessarily I'd think, all Miami needs to do is win one on the road; so either Game 4 or Game 5. Then defend home court. I agree though if they don't win today it's going to be tough to near impossible to come back and win 3 in a row against this Spurs team.
  • Now that I look at the SA/MIA series and the MEM/SA series just last round, I can't help but wonder...just how good were the Warriors this postseason? They seemed to be the only team that has given the Spurs problems. If Golden State would have won game 1, which they only lost by 2, they would've taken the Spurs to 7 games. Then you have two tough teams like MIA and MEM that are struggling against SA. I think Golden State has something to build on next season.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • [2] replies
    • Yep. The Warriors dominated the first two games, leading something like 96 out of 101 minutes. They just had that one disaster ending of game one. They played them tougher than Memphis did that's for sure and perhaps even Miami. We'll have to wait and see about that one. I'm looking forward to next season!
    • Except that they are in salary cap hell, for the most part.

It's unlikely they can bring back Jarrett Jack and Carl Landry - two guys who were a big part of their postseason success.

Someone will give Jack some cash this offseason....and chances are Landry declines his player option to try and secure a better long term deal.

GS's problem is even though they lose those two guys, Curry comes off his rookie deal and gets a salary bump per the extension he signed....add in the bumps to Bogut, Lee, and Jefferson and the Warriors salary will stay the same even with the $9 million of Landry and Jack coming off.

Paying Biedrins and Jefferson $20 mil next yr and getting nothing from them hurts.

The good news is they have about $38 mil in expiring deals that come off AFTER next yr (Bogut, Jefferson, Biedrins, and Rush) so maybe they can move some of that thru a trade to take on a player with more years who actually contributes (unlike Biedrins and Jefferson).

They will HAVE to find someone to replace Jack's playmaking and ballhandling, otherwise too much of that load will fall on Curry, which wouldn't be good.

And it won't come thru the Draft, because Utah owns the Warriors #1 pick.(They don't have a 2nd round pick either...)

Luckily for them they still have Curry, Thompson, and Lee...and Bogut is at least a factor again. Plus Mark Jackson is impressive as their coach....and they added some good young talent last year with Barnes, Ezeli, and Draymond Green.

But they will HAVE to find a replacement for Jack...somehow.

  • Will make a bold prediction today and go for Miami by a few pts. LeFlop cant play worse than he did, and Parker is so so, Green just cant repeat the 3rd game shooting streak.
  • A series full of surprises:

Lead by The Big Three, (who took 64 of Miami's 85 shots) Miami's offense comes alive as they scratch and claw their way to a 109-93 escape from San Antone for we are headed back to Miami for game #6 for sure and game #7 - if necessary.

Veteran sharpshooter Ray Allen showed up with 14 points in the most critical game of the season to date.

    - Miami's after loss victory streak stays intact and ties this series at 2 games apiece.

Miami lead at the end of the 1st period and through t the 2nd but SA flurried in the last 2 minutes to go into halftime with the game tied @49.

I think Pat Reilly stood for most of the 2nd half.

At the 11:00 minute mark of the 4th, with Lebron on the bench Mr. Wade takes over the game (going a total of 14 of 25) and by the time he was finished Miami had a 12 point lead with about 3 to go.

    Stats Of The Game: (IMHO)

    - Blocks: 7 by Miami:

    - Turnovers: 18 by SA

    - FG%: Heat %52.9

    My Bottom line:

SA exerted scoring pressure on Miami all game long but Miami responded by hitting their shots and forcing 18 turnovers while only committing 9 themselves.

Youngsters Danny Green and Gary Neal continued their out of this world 3point shooting going 6-9 but if only they had shot more 3pointers as Miami was forced to respect them and thus limited their 3point shot attempts.

    The Future Of This Series:

I predicted Miami to win in 6 and that is still a possibility but of course we'll have to see.

I think Miami will win the series and I'd like to see them win but if it is not to be - who gives a _____?

    Not I, not really.

I found that if I root for one of the teams the series and games are whole lot more exciting and as soon as the game or series is over it's over- especially when none of the teams involved are the Lakers.

When my Lakers lost to the hated Celts in 2010 I mourned for about 30 minutes and then moved on - but it was fun.

I'll be sad to see the end of the NBA Season because it means 4 months without football or basketball.

Maybe I'll get into the WNBA.

    Enjoy!!

  • I don't think we've seen both teams play their "A" game at the same time in a game yet. Hard to tell who is the better team. It's like ping pong. I could see the Spurs bouncing back and winning Game 5 and this thing going 7. Going to be a great three game series now.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • As Dick Enberg use to say...

    Oh my!!!

    Miami is in serious trouble.

They've got to win 2 in a row at home to win the title.

( something they haven't done on about 12 games)

Genobli comes alive to befuddle Miami.

I didn't know that these two teams were the top two scoring teams in the NBA.

Miami just could not keep up with SA last night.

Every time Miami came close, SA would spurt - especially near the end of the 1st half and the 3rd period.

    Enjoy!

    • And Danny Green man oh man what a performance by him this series. Already passed Ray Allen's record in only 5 games haha he's shooting out of this world right now. I still think it's possible for Miami to win 2 in a row at home though but it's going to be tough since SA is the tougest team they've faced in the past 2 years.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Ok, so Miami will win Game 6 by double digits, then let's get ready for an epic Game 7 on Thursday! Flip a coin on that one.

    • I predicted it wouldn't go more than 6 with Miami winning so now, for many reasons I'm hoping for a game 7.

  • It will be tough for the Spurs to close out the Heat, who have their backs against the wall for more than one reason. And, it seems the Heat play their best with their backs against the wall.

On the other hand, the Spurs won't back down or beat themselves. I believe the Spurs are 7-2 on the road this playoff season and have an incredible close out record in the playoffs during the Timmy/Pop era.

BTW, Timmy/Pop are now the longest player/coach combo in history.

  • Welcome back Kurt!

    Halftime Report:

Everything was going great for Miami until...

... Miami just can not stop SA from spurting at the end of the each half.

( look out for the last 3 minutes of the 3rd period also )

It has happened numerous times in this series.

If Miami is to win they must start hitting jumpers cause SA won't give them anything else.

Enjoy what may be the last game of the season!

    TL
  • Why didn't the Spurs foul on that last possession??????????? (in regulation)

I never understand why teams don't do that lol
  • What a game!

I do not want to see Miami in the finals next year.

That was a game for the ages.

    Early...

Miami lead by 2-4 points until a SA flurry in the final 4 mins of the 2nd (in which Miami went scoreless) SA goes up by 6 at the half.

    It was a 17-4 run.

SA holds a 5-8 point lead through most of the 3rd and by the end of the 3rd, SA's up by around 10 and I take a bathroom break.

When Miami was down by around 11 and looking like they had wilted - at around the 4 minute mark of the 3rd...

.... I switched sides, yes switched sides.

I became quite tired of Lebron and his crap.

I started rooting for SA and wanted them to put Miami out of their misery once and for all because I thought that this is no way for a champion to go down.

I could see the headlines like...

    "The Heat Fizzle".

    But...

Spokska asked his team to give him their finest 4th period of the season and they did.

( I think he used the word quarter )

I take a bathroom break at the end of the 3rd and...

What do you know, when I return, the lead is now only 7 with about 10 to go.

Miami slowly whittles away at SA's lead and ...

Then the game is tied at 89 with 1:03 to go.

Peter Parker, I mean Tony Parker takes over and now...

    - I thought it was over when SA was up by 5 with only 28 ticks remaining but they couldn't hit both free throws on two occasions and Miami cans two 3Pointers to send the game into...

    Overtime! (95-95)

Miami outlasts SA for a 103-100 victory.

Miami was on the brink of the abyss and survived.

Ray Allen showed up big with 9 4th period and OT points and the play of the day.

    - My most outstanding stat of the game:

Miami made 6 more 3Pointers than SA an 18 point difference.

Thank God for game 7's and I do not want to see a blowout by either team.

I predicted Miami in 6, will it be Miami in 7?

I still say I'm sick of Miami but they fought like true champions.

    Can I switch sides again??

    Enjoy!

    • No, you can't switch again TL. Only one time per finals is the rule.

Great game. I am thinking the Spurs blew their chance to win it all. They can still do it but somehow I think game 6 was it for them. So many opportunities. Ginobili 8 turnovers drove me nutts. Duncan only 5 points after an amazing first half. Parker going cold most of the game. Green missing threes.

  • Game 6 was insane! Nail biting to the last second.

    I'll be watching Game 7.

I don't have a favorite team of the two, but the drama is just so intense!
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Game 7 tonight!

My pick is Miami 97-94 but nothing would surprise me tonight and I do want to see a blowout.
  • Congrats to the Heat. Lebron showed why he's the best player alive. Spurs prove they are the equal of the Heat and with a difference bounce or two, they could well have been champs.

It does ruin my perfect prediction record, but 7-1 isn't too bad.
    • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • Lebron and Heat get the last laugh with the 1st back-to-back NBA Championships since my Lakers performed the task in 87-88.

I'm included since I switched sides at the 4 minute mark of the 3rd period in game #6.

    - Shane B. shows up with 6 3Pointers, much like Mike M. did for the Heat - last year.

    Stat Of The Game:

    - For the 2nd game in a row, Heat outscore Spurs by 18 HUGE points in 3Point baskets.

    - Spurs hit 6 of 19 but Heat hit 12 of 32.

    - Chris Bosh = 0 points and took only 5 shots.

    - Kwhy Leonard shows great promise.

    - Timmy misses chippy and point blank tip-in that would have tied the game - late.

    - D. Green was shut down for 2nd consecutive game on 1 for 12 from the field.

    - D. Wade has a solid game shooting 11 of 21 from the field.

    - Lebron hurts SA from the outside with 5 of 10 from 3Point Land and 12 of 23 from the floor total for 37 BIG points as he also shuts down TP.

    - I don't want to see the Heat in the finals next year.

    - Kurt takes WF NBA Playoff Prediction Championship:

    Congrats Kurt!

    • Huh? Your lakers won a back to back in 2009 and 2010. Before that they won three in a row in 2000, 2001, and 2002. Pistons also won a back to back in 1989 and 1990. The Bulls won two threepeats after that. Oh, and the Rockets won back to back after 87-88 also. lol

OK, congrats to Miami. They deserved it, but clearly showed they aren't as dominant and unbeatable as some were saying. The Spurs are going to be kicking themselves about this one for a long time. I hope Ginobili retires. He lost the series for them imo. Just terrible turnovers and only one good game out of 7. I definitely don't want the Heat to win any more Championships because right now they are tied with my Warriors with three, along with the 76ers and the Pistons.
