Having trouble marketing a custom polo printing ad, what do Americans call these?

I know that many Americans call all t-shirts just shirts. But what are the actual formal shirts called? Button down shirts? collared shirts? dress shirts? formal shirts?

Would like some clarification

Thanks

They would call a polo shirt, a polo shirt.

    or maybe Polo for short.

and some would also called them tennis shirt. Though polo or polo shirts should be no problem for Americans to understand.

    I call it a shirt, because I'm a guy & I just don't care.

  • What you have there, is a Tennis Shirt
It's a two-button placket cotton short-sleeved casual shirt...but I've always thought they were tennis shirts...

naaah - it's a Polo shirt - (which I have never understood the provenance of, because I thought they were popularized by Lacoste - )

and t-shirts are just t-shirts - no matter where you are...?

Curiously though....what ARE they called in other countries???

for instance: an 'A-shirt' is known in the US, as a "wife-beater"...(probably because of "Cops")

I don't use hangers for my shirts, I just lean them up against the wall, lol.

in the us it's generally referred to as a polo shirt although can be called a golf shirt or tennis shirt. can use any of those depending on your targeted dem, but if you're going to market it to the masses i'd go with polo.

I always thought a polo shirt had 3/4 length sleeves. The one in the pic I would call a golf shirt.

    But then - I'm a chick, and I don't give a rip either. I don't wear those.
