Is it just me, or...

...has there already been an improvement in the overall "feel" of the posts here?

I understand that this is probably a case of confirmation bias, but it seems to me that the posts have been better since Allen switched the WF to a paid forum.

Anybody else notice this, or am I off my rocker?

All the best,
Michael

  • There's been less spam.
  • Didn't notice. But then again I ignore most of the posts anyway (except yours of course)

      thanks dean
  • When did that happen? I had no notifications and no idea that was even the case.

    • Since you've already paid for the War Room you're already a "paid" member, so no notification was needed. Though if you look on the upper, right-hand corner of the forum you'll see register button.

  • I agree Michael.

There's a much better vibe here now.

  • Were the post quality not as good before?
My impression of the quality of posts here at the WF is on par with other online forums that I am a member of...

Granted, I am relatively new here, plus the other "forums" I mentioned being forums in my niche.

  • It seems less cluttered but the quality of topics/replies seem about the same to me.

    • Yep, a "better vibe" is a great way to put it. It's not exactly concrete, but a general feeling. Maybe it's just that the novelty hasn't worn off yet.

I have definitely noticed fewer posts, and maybe the lack of clutter is part of the better vibe. Not having so many posts to weed through makes it easier to find relevant and worthwhile threads.

      All the best,
      Michael
  • Hey Michael,

These two aren't exclusive. I could have noticed and you could still be off your rocker.

  • What is the cost for 'new members'?
    • [1] reply

    • $10 membership.

      $37 war room and membership

Those already here were grandfathered, unless female, because they need to be grandmothered.

There's still a good few thousand (probably tens of thousands) of single grey-cell matter new members (not all) who enlisted here prior to the 'pay to join' decision. So it's going to take a little while longer before the boards level out to a majority of 'value' posts. That said, the number of ridiculous questions posed on many new threads has certainly declined, which can only be a good thing for WF in general.

It's definitely good to be able to browse the main forum with a now healthy quota of 'sensible' and reasonable questions posted, although I must say that the occasional "I hear about make money from IM, so tell me how" thread (complete with multiple spelling mistakes), will sometimes be missed . . . purely because of the entertainment factor when reading the sometimes crazy replies from other newbies. Sure was better than any nightcap known to man
  • Asking for payment is definitely a step in the right direction. They should make membership monthly.

    • Allen only did it as a way to deter bot and spam sign-ups. This isn't a membership site.

  • I think it has improved slightly....a few less outright spammy posts to report.

However, I don't think the overall number of silly or super unrealistic posts will be changing much.

The industry has changed and there are tons of sellers (not just wso's) promising easy overnight riches so people think that somehow someway they have missed something when none of these "easy buttons" works for them.

  • Lol, didn't notice it was changed to a paid forum

    • Have to say looks that way...

      Probably right

Please can i stay even though i may agree with his post? Pretty please
  • Certainly haven't seen any change in the quality of posts in Adsense / PPC / SEO Discussion Forum

Still loads of sig spammers there and that little red triangle gets a good work out every day.
  • Yes and Yes.

The quality is reviving and you are off your rocker. The two conditions are not, by any stretch of imagination, mutually exclusive.

OOPS - LOL - just got caught skimming, didn't I? Could have just copied Kurt's post and said "this". Bet nobody else ever does that...right? Right. I'm so sleezy.

  • It always makes me chuckle when someone wants to doubt those of us who are real "old-timers".
    • [1] reply
    • I'm not a real old-timer, but I did pay to get access to the WF when I first joined.

      All the best,
      Michael

p.s. Your sig is very clever, some might even say it is "sly".

  • So! That is how they finally got the sports schedule serial spamming creeps to stop!

In all my years here (8 years) as a mod I have never been bombarded by spam to this degree. It went on and on every day for a while - at least a month.

Somehow banning them didn't even stop the pond scum. It was like helpless - all you can do is delete them and live with it.

It has been quiet now a few days - I wondered how they finally managed to annihilate that crew! Good riddance and brilliant solution.

  • lol Michael, your old-timer enough .
