Aliens. Do you believe?

This isn't a debate, it's more dedicated to a discussion.

Do you believe in life on other planets? If so, why?

Have fun.

P.S. I swear I'm not crazy.. I personally believe it's inevitable for life outside of our own planet not to exist.

I don't agree with their opinions. But I will say, even though I make fun of the guy with the funny hair, his opinions are well formed and he's put a lot of thought into his opinions. And I find the show to be very interesting, even though I don't agree with the ancient alien theory.

But I still find it funny that everything according to him is because of ancient aliens. Pancakes? Ancient aliens gave them to us. Honey Boo Boo? She was brought by ancient aliens.

Yea I don't agree with his theories as a whole, but it is really interesting.

Then again.. they are just theories. Even if they were proven incorrect or correct, right now there's nothing to really agree with other than something that seems plausible

                  I find it interesting too.

The thing that I find hilarious is that if these people (including the screen writers for MIB) think that we weren't intelligent enough as human beings to discover things like electricity or velcro or aerodynamics, then how could they be intelligent enough to seek out, find and provide proof that these things came from aliens.

I think we need to define "aliens". Does this mean any life on other planets/moons/asteroids/comets, etc., or intelligent life from other places that have visited Earth?

IMO, "alien" means life that came to Earth from another planet.

I believe it's almost impossible that life doesn't exist elsewhere in the Universe. However, I don't believe intelligent life has visited Earth. I'm not discounting it, only think it needs substantial evidence that I haven't seen.

Checkout my thread, (Earth type planet found) we will have concrete proof in the next 10 to 20 years, or next month if one lands in our backyard, (Hmmm, Americas backyard) they can't break the tradition of the classic UFO landing in a park!!!!

        Shane

As for me believing, absolutely, it is a bit like saying the Earth was flat, eventhough common sense showed us that ships disappearing over the horizon, proved otherwise!

It was just too radical a concept; similar to now, l won't get into sightings, etc' but from a sheer number of stars, and the number of Goldi-lox, class planets out there.

Kepler has found more than 1000 stars with planets, out of 2100, (if l remember correctly) and a handful that are in the ballpark distance.

So if there are 100, billions stars in our galaxy, then there are more than enough class M worlds out there, to make it very likely that there are a handful with intelligent life.

And some will have a 10,000+ head start on us, etc.....

        Only a matter of time!

Yes I believe so because our sun is a star and our galaxy The Milky Way has around 200 billion stars and most of them have solar systems (have planets that orbit the star).

And our universe has around 200 billion galaxys as well. So if you multiply 200,000,000,000 with 200,000,000,000, you'll get 40,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 possible solar systems (if each galaxy has an average of 200 billion stars).

But it doesn't need to be intelligent life like ours, microorganisms are also life.

I think it's defiantly possible that other worlds/beings exist, Earth exist & humans exist, so why shouldn't other similar planets exist?

Yea aliens are there!!!!! its like looking at the sea and thinking if there is life there. Perhaps we cant see them but they are there looking at us!!! that is what scares me about them. Perhaps no aliens have found Earth, or they are already controlling Earth...But the thing is that we can never be above them in terms of intelligence.
Imagine how a society can develop in a million years!!!!!!!!
If the aliens are there then chances are that they are MILLIONS of years more advanced. so you can only hint at the power of their technology or brainpower!!!!!

I've had enough personal experiences too make me a believer.
However, from a philosophical point of view, I believe that space and time are infinite.
And, in infinity anything is possible.
So, for example, in a billion years wouldn't there have arisen a civilization that would been here by now?

Scientists have fossilized bacteria from space. Consider water is from space. Humans have been around with abstract thinking skills for at least 200,000 years and we are just now exploring space. Now figuring that some life forms would have evolved earlier and quicker than we did, on a planet with elements that gave them better technology, I'm sure they have cruised around us at least once or twice. They may have brought us here. It's not really that much of a stretch of the imagination. It also wouldn't be much of a stretch for aliens to be concerned about an uncivilized species that is starting to threaten other planets. I think when they show up and actually let us know they are around it will be for nothing other than to bitch slap us and tell us to stop it or stay home.

I don't like the term "alien" as much as I like the term "extraterrestrial life" (because I'm really just a nerd). I realize they both refer to the same thing, but they each seem to be associated with different connotations.

For example, if your neighbor says he believes in aliens, because he saw some weird shape in the sky, you might think he's crazy.

If Stephen Hawkins says he believes in extraterrestrial life, and claims it would be "improbable for it not to exist", you might think he was smart. And ironically enough he HAS said that, and I DO think he's a very intelligent man.

The problem is the schema that humans have developed for the word "alien". We picture green heads attached to slim bodies with these big spider claws for hands. And thanks to movies like "War of The Worlds" that schema has now changed. Us humans have sophisticatively (is that a word?) evolved our perceptions of alien life. Instead of them having thin human like bodies, we now realize they are giant green octopus's. That stand hundreds of feet in the air and can crush an entire city with 1 swift movement of their slimy tentacles. :p

But seriously. Like Hawkin said, I believe it would be improbable to suggest that ET life does not exist. When you consider the infinite scope of the word "universe", and humans primitive understanding of science & exploration... I believe its inevitable that we will discover ET life at some point in the future.

Whether its 10 years, or 10,000 years (if we make it that far) I'm sure we'll discover something. We already discovered Tom Cruise like many have said, so imho.. we're already halfway there.

    Sadly they are correct:

    I'm with you Kurt.

At US customs control I am classified as alien.

Yep! I believe in aliens.

Judging from how I can be treated (at US customs) when I visit I can see why aliens are elusive.

Planet Earth: (Solar System, Milky Way - 728 light years via Minthalia Valdorn). Sentient life-forms. Vocal and visual communication. Noisy. Not particularly friendly. Openly hostile to each other.

      I'm so confused lol.

I understand not believing, but how could you see something that you don't believe in?

Well.. I guess I'll answer my question by saying, at first I didn't believe you could make an income on the internet, then I experienced it myself. Problem solved.

I'm open to the possibility, but I think it's also possible (and perhaps likely) that we're the only sentient organisms, seeing as how our universe is neither infinitely large nor infinitely old. Granted, there appear to be other universes out there, so who knows with regards to them...

Yea the only thing I'd say about what people believe is that we don't really know anything We can pretend we know how old something is, how large something is, but when it comes down to it, we only know what we believe is true.

I get how scientists can say that the sun is 149,597,870,700 meters, which is the equivalent of almost 92.956 million miles. But at the same time.. how in the heck do they know that for sure, you can bring equations into play, you can pull up a bunch of what is considered "factual math" but I personally feel they are full of a bunch of a bologna

I mean come on, we as a civilization once thought the world was flat. We thought we were the center of the galaxy, and so on.

That's why I always look at what people call "facts" as "theories", I'm not so certain of seeing it to believe it, because many times, we're wrong. (if you jump in the air, you jump in the air.. lets not have any of those types of remarks hahaha, the idea here is more of an overall aspect of thinking)

Personally I do believe in Aliens. My logic says, if the earth can have the components of life, there are innumerable planets around and I think 99% of them are not discovered yet. How can I say that there is not another planet where other living creature exists?

That is something that has been argued and discussed for generations. I personally find the quality of those involved in UFOlogy quite interesting - Who is Who in Ufology certainly adds credibility to the argument.

P.S. I swear I'm not crazy.. I personally believe it's inevitable for life outside of our own planet not to exist.

Alien exist, no doubt. Just like few thousand ago, Chinese though that white people are ghosts.
I mean we will have chance to meet each other later, and we have chance to understand each other Understand their culture, language.

Few thousand year ago, Asian and European never meet before. They don't understand each other. But now, it's very common.

Maybe few thousand year later, Alien exist in earth is very common, why not?
