Kind of Death you Want?

The question sounds quite rude isn't it? But we must accept the fact that we are all going to die.

Perhaps this question makes no sense for you, but there are some people who wish a death they want. I'm just curious, what's yours?

Mine is that I want to die in a fast way that I will not feel the pain that much.

What's yours?

I'm hoping to be the first to break the trend of death which seems to be chic and in vogue. Everyone's doing it! There's always someone who has to break the mold and I think I just might be that one in a trillion.

However, if I don't, I think a good way to go would be like Richard Pryor said: "I'd like to die like my father died... My father died ****ing. My father was 57 when he died. The woman was 18. My father came and went at the same time."

You're right Yukon. Perhaps it's the weirdest thread ever posted in this forum.

      Anyway, what's yours?

Wait. You'd enjoy jumping into a volcano?

If you want to die doing something you'd enjoy, see Phelan's post above.

I must agree with that. Going peacefully when asleep would be my idle way to die. But at my age (30) I'd rather not think that far ahead heh.

Sudden and instant, no dreams, signs or hints whatsoever that it was about to happen, and I want no one besides me hurt when it happens. There was another thread asking about funeral music choice, so I won't bring that up again. The Off Topic forum has become a great venue for death preparation.

I do know if I get the news that I am about to die, there are a few that best start looking over their shoulder
    Just a joke.... err...umm...

Since we are on the death subject, I guess the bigger question would be, are you scared to die?

I have no fear of it as I have lived a fairly good life. Not that I am ready to go, but there is no fear of it. My fear would be pain. And speaking of pain, Damn, how I hate pain! I especially hate this cold...brrrrr....it is nothing but pain from the day it begins until the day it ends

Yep, it's possible. But the fact that we don't know how we could die scares me sometimes. But it doesn't bother me always. I remember one quote:

We can't choose the way we should die, but we could choose the way we should live.

Good question. But the fact that we grow old means that we are all going to die. Though not through some accidents, illness, or whatsoever, we are all going to die.

Almost all we wanted a painless death but we need to remember that the birth and death are two narrow holes of a wide tube called the world. Entering into this world is painful as well the departure too.. We may think the people who died in their sleep didn't feel any pain. But it may not be like that and they are not there to tell their experience of dying. Clinically death is a serial switching off our organs one by one and lastly the brain. Until and unless the brain is dead, the feeling of pain is inevitable.

Bullet through the forehead. That or peacefully in my sleep.

The fact that you are going to die must prompt you to wonder what happens after it. It's why I became a believer 17 years ago and got baptized.

As a believer, if I'm wrong then I've lost nothing. I'll die and be in the same boat as everyone else.

If, however, I'm right, then a lot of people are going to be up a certain creek without a paddle.

    Hello,

There is much to be said on this subject althouugh it is generally not mentioned.

The Buddha - founder of Buddhism - said that of all the meditation practices that he was familiar with Mindfulness on death was the most powerful.

I also heard a Hindu monk give a lecture in which he adivised us to contemplate impermanence and remind ourselves 3 times every day that today might be the last day of our lives. But at the same time it is necessary that you do not think of death obsessively as it can leave you in a state of abject terror.

The French philosopher Montaigne said - " To practice death is to practice freedom. He who has learned how to die has unlearned how to be a slave."

Being prepared to die gives you a lot of power. It is up to you whether you wish to use that power for good or for mischief.

Just think of the muslim terrorists taking on the organized might of the worlds only superpower simply by being prepared to suffer and being prepared to die. And they have given the USA a run for their money.

Those who wish to learn more can send me a PM if they wish or they can read Montaigne's Essay on Death (it should be available online) and also read The Tibetan Book on Living and Dying by Sogyal Rinpoche.

    Best wishes
