Who Really Is The Best James Bond!?

I was going to say David Niven, but let's not confuse the locals here! Also leaving out Barry Nelson and Bob Holness as they didn't play the cinematic role. So, from Connery to Craig, and all in between, who is the ultimate 007!?

Oh, and just for the record, the best Bond villain is Jaws, and sexiest Bond girl goes to Pussy Galore! And I love, love, love Adele's 'Skyfall'! Double 'O' Heaven!

I was going to say Niven too. Fleming actually wrote JB with Niven in mind.

I think Craig is doing a good job but Bond is Connery and that is that.

I think Sean Connery is the best James Bond as well. The character seems to fit him perfectly, and I love the sound of his voice

I must say that it is not an easy question to answer but my vote would go to Pierce Brosnan

Sean, is there any other Bond ?

I watched Skyfall last week, pretty decent but you can't beat the old classics.

I've seen Skyfall twice, I love it! I have an Unlimited card (monthly subscription) for my local cinema so don't care about seeing the same film twice.

It's been a while since I read the novels but, from what I remember, I think Daniel Craig in terms of the character in the novels and Timothy Dalton in terms of the illustration that's on the Wikipedia page.

They had ex Bond girl actresses on This Morning and they said that, during the filming of Dr No, Sean Connery was so nervous, they actually got him tipsy for the first scene where he introduces himself "Bond, James Bond." in order to calm him down!

About a week ago I saw Roger Moore do an interview, he's got a book about Bond out.

He was asked who his favorite Bond was. He said it used to be Connery, but after the latest movie he said it's now Daniel Craig. I found this to be interesting.

Had to go with Connery, but Moore is a close second.

There's only one Mr Bond... the rest are like "a parade of limp wristed Jessies"
      as told by Billy Connolly.

Love the video - thanks Riptor!
Billy Connolly is a total hoot - imagine him as Bond? Austin Powers eat your heart out!

I liked Sean Connery's and Roger Moore's depictions of James Bond. Never was convinced by the others (but haven't seen Daniel Craig's yet).

Daniel Craig is right up there as one of the best! I actually saw him at a showbiz event this year and he is so polite and congenial with people. This guy has real class - and a Bond for the ages!

  • George Lazenby - by a long shot!

I was watching a documentary on 'Bond' and Cubby Broccoli awhile back, and according to one of the people interviewed, apparently when Lazenby came in to audition, he said he did this, and that, and he worked in blah blah...turns out he had NEVER ACTED BEFORE - it was a total con job! - he conned his way into the most coveted movie role going! Now, if that didn't take the steel cojones acumen of James Bond, I don't know what would!
(Oh, and you never did see him again as Bond...did you - )

(but for the record, Connery will always have the tag, though I give due credit to the others as well...word was Mel Gibson even tried out...I think that might have been interesting...)

Mel Gibson would do good acting, but he seems to fit better with a more working class type image. Bond was supposed to be like, well, like he is generally played.

If you REALLY want to hear about a con job, this one guy wanted to get this part. The head guy at the audition told him to get lost, and that he never wanted to see him again. He was apparently HORRIBLE!!!!!!!! But another guy at the audition seemed to think he could do well, so he quietly and covertly asked the guy to come back, in character and do his best for the part. I don't even want to name him. Anyway, he came back, and NAILED the part. He got the job. The very one he failed to earlier in the day.

      Steve
