The Mayan Prophecy of 2012

Do you believe that the world will end on the 21st of December 2012?

Personally, I don't think that it will. Perhaps the date will mark the beginning of a new era, or something major will happen in the world.

What do you think?

oh no this topic again! LOL!

No offense, ozzie2012, but if I am alive @ December 22, 2012 one of the best things I will celebrate is that now we don't have to hear about the Mayan so-called prophecy about December 21, 2012 again.

I do believe and it is documented that there will be huge changes to the sphere (solar system etc) for real - but like most 'earth-shaking' events - you can't see anything - maybe just yet -

... and it is even possible the world as we know it will end on 12/21/12.

    But just as likely 12/8/12 , 12/15/12 or 12/32/2090.

There has to be some jokes in here somehow - one funny thing i read was like the Mayans merely ran out of ROOM on the paper - (or the calendar they had merely needed to be UPGRADED - VERSION 1.2) -

I can see some poor office mouse getting reamed for people REVERBERATING for centuries what may or may not be a huge hoax -

... and all just because he forgot to upgrade the calendar

sheesh and we thought Y2K was the non-event of the age.

    same thing. think ahead.

Plan for de future in advance.

Something may happen...who knows. If so, then we get the answers to some of the questions that we couldnt get while being focused through these physical bodies.

    If not; party on Wayne!

Makes no difference to me...this life is a flash in the pan. Just stretch your potential as far as it can go and live it to the fullest.

The world better end. I stopped paying my bills six months ago solely based on this prediction.

I also liquidated my 401k and plan to spend the entire week of the 16th wasting it on hookers and blow. Might as well go out with a bang.

If the world doesn't end, my wife is going to be soooooo pissed...

I don't believe anything will happen.
It's amazing that anyone, scientist, preachers,
world leaders will come up with a doomsday date
and let it soak into the minds of the masses to
cause mass dread and panic. You will wake
up Dec. 22, 2012 the same you did on Dec. 21. 2012.

People are coming up with these prophesies all the time. If any one of them actually came true, we wouldn't be here discussing this.

Jesus said that the end would come like a thief in the night. In other words, when we least expect it. One thing I am sure of, it won't happen on 12/21/12. The 22nd maybe when everyone is looking the other way, but not the 21st.

      I don't do predictions.

But I'm sure that when mother nature has had enough of us messing up this planet it will shake us off just like a tick on a dog's back, just as it has done with over 95% of the species that lived on it.

The earth will continue with no fuss, and the wheels on the bus.... blah blah

The prophecy won't end on Dec 21 - even if we just have a normal, routine day as usual.

People will claim there was a huge event - but we just don't yet what it was or that it was a secret takeover of a whatchamacallit and hasn't been activated yet or...

They'll find some way to keep it going....or replace it with a new date. To be a successful conspiracy theorist you must have at least one conspiracy running at a ll times.

But somewhere in the distant mountains, a family will emerge from their survival bunker on the 22nd....and wonder how on earth they are going to use all those supplies they stored up.

I believe the Mayan ran out of stone to carve farther than December 21st, 2012.

My vacations will start that day, and nobody knows when the world will end. And when it happens, if it happens and if we are alive to see it comming, why to worry?

For a lot of people. But it still would have ended that day whether a "Mayan Prophecy" existed or not. Such is life.

I think there has been a lot of hype attached to this so called Prophecy. If you ask a Mayan Elder about this Prophecy he would tell you that it never existed.

Oh, don't worry, there will be plenty of people who will think of something to scare the crap out of the vulnerable and start another round of this. Different dates, different circumstances, but I could probably give you high odds it will happen.

Actually many scholars think the Mayan calendar is circular, not linear. When it reaches the end, it starts over at the beginning. This makes sense to me . . . after all, those folks in the year 4612 are going to need something to worry about.

Look guys I was in Sian Ka'an last week. With a number of the Mayan people and frankly they for the most part do not speak Spanish at all, just Maya. What I was told essentially was this. The 2012 date is incorrect. It actually is 2021. No BS. Was told that by someone who no doubt is a Mayan and a scholar at that. The prophecy calls for floods and wild fires on a world scene. Not a good scenario for sure, but open to interpretation as well. Just my 2 cents.

Yep, the Mayan calender is recurring, so after 2012, the gist is we have 1,400 years of peace, then power tends to get the better of us, and we go through the lot again.

Or 1,400 years of peace, then 12,000 years of starting again after having a world war, which flings the world back to the stone ages again.

This supposedly happened 12,000 years ago, with the 2 dominant races on Earth at that time, having a world war with weapons that were far more powerful than the inventors realized. Or weapons with access to unlimited energy.

That flung us back to the stone age, and 12,000 years later he we are!

But thankfully, we won't destroy ourselves, this time around or be allowed to!

There are other forces out there, keeping their eye on the button!

This whole talk is just some giant-sized BS. The world ain't ending anytime soon.
Yep, totally agree, if the UN forces were in Syria, and the leader was in a corner, with access to long range atomic weapons, then it would unfortunately seem likely.

But since there isn't anything that could create this, l tend to agree that it is very unlikely, or world events, getting us to this scenario, within the time frame left is very unlikely!

About as likely as world temp, reaching 6 degrees by 2100, and the world becoming unbearably hot, and most crops a wastelands, etc!

          Same dog, different fleas!

Most likely nothing will happen on the 21st, and 22nd, etc. Then as the bible has hinted, when most people have realized it was a fizzer, then we will be in for a shock.

But it will be a nice shock!!!

Hmm, reading some articles state that the Mayans have predicted that the end of the world would take place on December 22nd, 2012, and have advised that humanity should prepare for that day by means of changing into a peaceful and harmonious race.

For me i don't believe in that prophecy seems no one knows when will be the end of the world.

They "predicted" the end of the world, but sure as hell didn't see the Spanish coming :p

But no, I do not believe that the end of the world Is coming soon. The world will end eventually yes, that Is undeniable, but It will not end because It was predicted by someone.
