This may pale in comparison to an End of the World thread, but in the unlikely event that life persists beyond 12/21, I would like to be able to post to my blogs!

The problem is, on one of my blogs, the edit functions have simply vanished. When I try to create a new post, there are no options to edit. The same if I bring up old posts. Everything else looks normal, just no way to edit. This means it's impossible to put in links, italics, change font size, etc.

This is a WordPress 3.5 blog; I have several of these but the problem is only on one so far. I tried asking this on the WordPress.org support forum but so far have gotten no replies.

I have no idea what might be causing this. Does it sound familiar to anyone?

Try in a different web browser and see if it works. Sometimes there may be browser compatibility issues (although that would be strange for Wordpress)

Thanks, but that doesn't make a difference. This only started yesterday and I always use the same browser. Also, it's only happening on this one blog.

Sounds like you've timed out of auto login. Enter your domain name and follow it with wp-admin as in the example below. That will prompt your username and password. Enter those and you should be able to get in.

I'm not having a problem logging in. I'm just missing the edit functions for posting.

Try installing another theme and see if it works.

Note: 3.5 is a weird upgrade - it not only caused the widget we had to disappear but that particular widget is not even an option now (to rebuild it).

I beg to differ about browsers too - I always use Chrome for Wordpress because I have trouble with Firefox which cuts off the tops of various functions in WP and also skews the HTML code into a wild bowl of spaghetti - (we need formatted).

Try to clear your cache (history) it may help - it may not...

    Patrician,

I think installing a new theme is probably the answer as it's the only unique feature about this particular blog. 3.5 is a fairly new update, so maybe the theme isn't compatible with it.

Update: apparently it's not the theme either, as I changed it and the problem is still here

Further Update: problem was solved by deleting a plugin. Not sure why it was suddenly causing this issue but it was an old Amazon plugin I wasn't using anyway. Thanks for the suggestions!

If you can't get this figured out, you might want to contact Itsvan Horvath here on the forum. He's a WP expert. I can't recommend him enough.

Be prepared, though. He can be a little gruff.

Raising a child is akin to knowing you're getting fired in 18 years and having to train your replacement without actively sabotaging them.

Or is Jimi Hendrix the Itsvan Horvath of the electric guitar?

Thanks Dan, but I fixed it by removing an old Amazon plugin.

I periodically have issues like this caused by WP plugins, wp updates, and so on. Usually plugin upgrades resolve the problem.
