    General Norman Schwarzkopf was a great general and freakishly smart man (IQ 170). Seems to have been quite a character -- liked to perform magic tricks.

      That actually wasn't his decision to make. Anyway, the rationale for not going all the way later proved to be correct.

          They didn't go all the way since it would likely lead to a messy urban guerrilla war situation that could last for many years. That is exactly what happened when they go all the way in the next war.

    I was disappointed when he retired - I couldn't believe it.
