How to redirect webmail for a website to gmail? Do I have to change the POP3 settings or something similar? If I change the nameservers, will the mail be affected?

A simple way is to use the forwarding part of your site email program, and forward it all to gmail. You will need to create a forward for each site email address.

Just redirect via Cpanel.... pretty straight forward. I think there' even a "Redirect Email" or "Email Redirection" icon in the email section. Then you just enter any address or addresses, and voila... not need to mess around with POP3 settings or anything like that.

In Gmail, go to Settings - Account and Import. Click the "Add a POP3 mail account you own" link and follow the instruction. You also can send email using your email address via Gmail if you click the "Add another email address you own" link and follow the instruction. So you can get email and also reply or send the email using your POP3 mail account via Gmail

The easiest way to do this is by connecting MX data with google apps. Google used to have a free version but now there is a charge. i have done this numerous times, so if you need more help contact me.

i would suggest you the forwarding method which is simpler .. it should be located under the settings/options of your webmail. it sometimes needs a verification code in order the forward to be valid

Actually, I have a client whose emails are already redirected and settings done long time ago. But now they want to change webhosts. I'm not sure if changing the webhosts and nameservers will affect their emails? Because they are telling me it is really important that their email system is running at all times.

If you setup the email redirects using the hosting account cpanel then all of the email forwarding will be lost once you change your web host. Well unless you do a cpanel to cpanel transfer which some hosts will do for you.

Another option is to use the email forwarding that is provided by most domain registrars. Then changing your host wont matter as long as you keep your mail settings intact.

        Hi All

On this gMail support page, it states:

        Forwarding:
If your other webmail provider supports auto-forwarding, you can set your Gmail address as the forwarding target. This will only forward mail that arrives from now on.

You'll need to contact your other webmail provider to determine whether or not they support auto-forwarding, and for instructions on enabling it.
Only one way to find out whether it works or not!

        Regards

        Zoe

I had created a video on this matter last week for my students.

Anyways here is text version steps for you:

    1. In order to use your webmail with gmail you will first need a gmail account
    2. Now log in to your gmail account and on the top right area there will be a gear icon
    3. Click on that icon to open a drop down menu
    4. From the drop menu click “Settings”
    5. On the settings page you will see tabs like “General”, “Labels”, “Inbox”
    6. Select the “Accounts and Import” tab
    7. From there you will see “Check mail from other accounts using POP3” click to “Add a POP3 mail account you own”
    8. A pop up window will appear
    9. In this box you have to type in your email eg: test@blogkoriacademy.com, click “Next Step”
    10. On the next step you will need to type in your webmail username and password
    11. Type test+blogkoriacademy.com (replacing the @ symbol with +) as the username
    12. Type in your email password
    13. Leave the other options as default and click “Add Account”
    14. You can now receive emails using this account but you cannot send email yet
    15. On the next step select “Yes I want to send mail as…” and click “Next Step”
    16. You can now assign a name for this email, this will show up when people receive your email, click “Next Step”
    17. In the next phase select “Send mail through gmail” which is easier to setup, click “Next Step”
    18. Now gmail needs to verify that this is the email address that you own, click to “Send Verification”
    19. In this new window you will be asked to provide the verification code
    20. Now go to your webmail account and log in. To do this go to your web hosting cpanel and click Mail > Webmail > Secure Login
    21. Now after logging in to your email address you will see the verification email from gmail
    22. Open the email and you will see a link and a code
    23. You can click to this link to verify or you can copy this 5-6 digit code and paste it in the verification window. Either way you can verify your email address
    24. After verifying your email, now test your new email. When you send a mail to this address you will receive it on gmail. When you compose a new email you can use this email from the drop down window
    25. So this is how you can use your own mail with the power and security of gmail

    Hope this helps, thanks!

If you want a cleaner solution, use GoogleApps. It used to be free, but unfortunately not any more. With Google Apps, you have the interface of Gmail and can use your own domain name.

Is it possible to use current Gmail accounts for Google Apps?
