I don't know if this kind of tragedy happens more often than it used to or if I'm just noticing it more than I used to:
Ottawa mother stabs her 2 children to death, then commits suicide

These things happen more often than they're publicized. In fact, a lot of things do. You're just going to hear a lot more about them now so that "they" can incite mass hysteria which will lead to people begging for more of their rights to be taken away.

  • I agree - how someone can take an innocent human life 'to make a point', is inexcusable - it's times like this that I wish there was a hell...

It's time to have a national conversation about mother-murder, and we must compromise to put an end to this sort of violence.

We need to act now, and BAN all mothers.

This is the only way that we can ensure that each and every child will have the ability to grow and mature, without any possible risk of being murdered by a mother.

Someone should create a zero negative policy news source, the niche has absolutely no competition.

How would you define a 'zero negative policy' news source?

I must admit, I've been looking for one for years...

*(and frankly, equating someone beating someone to death with a hammer, and shooting them, is bullshit. - I know it's a cartoon - but I don't know where you get off...)

If it's not positive news don't allow it.

I didn't post the cartoon, not sure why you posted that comment in your reply to my comment.

It seems that there were no obvious signs that something was amiss with this mother. A person who by all appearances seems completely normal can suddenly go berserk and murder innocent children. Here's the most I could find:

"Tonya Marczak, another neighbour whose daughter was a close friend of Katie’s, said Katie’s birthday party was just this past weekend.

    It was a tea party.

'It was bring a doll and we’re having tea and cake and dress up,' she said, adding that it was fitting since dressing up was Katie’s favourite thing.

She said Katie’s mother was harder to get to know than her children.

'She was very quiet. I kinda use the word a little bit awkward, or what’s the word I would use? Strange, I guess. She’s a little bit strange, but I mean, we all are, right?'"

I wrote an article for my newsletter years ago titled, "There is Good News Too" or something to that effect. The article had 3 or 4 short news-like stories that featured positive news.

One was about a kid around 11 or 12 (it was years ago, the details are a little foggy) who got permission to use some vacant church land in his community to grow veggies for the needy. The adults discouraged him, but he pressed on. He went around town and got volunteers to work the gardens, merchants to donate tools and seeds, etc. It grew into a great success that fed a lot of needy families.

All the news items were positive like that, and that column brought in an avalanche of great feedback. So yeah, that's a great idea, Yukon. People really are hungry for good news. Finding it is difficult though. It took me a lot of time to research those news items.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

A "zero bad news policy" is a good idea, as long as it's not just putting a positive spin on bad news.

For example, and I'm using a very extreme example to illustrate the point:

"Sandy Hook Gunman Gets Perfect Score At Shooting Practice."

I apologise to anyone who was offended by that, but as I said I was using an extreme example to show how a "zero negative news policy" may not be a good thing in practice.
