    And to THINK! I just got a new heater. Maybe in another decade or so I won't need it. Maybe I could sell it to someone in CA!

    Yeah send some of that snow over to Australia!!! Half of Australia is burning..... the other half of us are melting

    Although I must admit we have a couple of cooler days this weekend, just 27 celcius maximum after a week of 40+ celcius days.

      This sub-tropical dude would be a Popsicle there.
      It would take me YEARS to get acclimated.
      Anything below 60 f and I am COLD!

        I haven't touched the bottle today, but we usualy use to take a sip (or a whole bottle) with cognac or some norse aquavit on the long, dark and cold winter days. But there's a lot of fun to do when it's cold too! You can for example fish on the ice, take a ski trip or you can take a chainsaw and create a hole in the ice, take a refreshing swim, get spanked by someone with a twig and jump into the hot sauna. :p

        By the way, the local beverage where I'm from is pure 90-96% spirit that's mixed with hot, strong & black coffee 50/50. We call it for "kark" or "karsk". Try it, it's good. But you have to use moonshine. If you try to use vodka, you'll ruin it because the vodka is to weak.

          On the cold weekend mornings,That is one of my favorite drinks as well.
          I use Bourbon whiskey, preferably Makers Mark brand. Of course I am of little use the rest of the day

          I would love to sample your local moonshine. Are Stills legal there?

            Stills are legal if you don't sell your "finish product" to someone. So you have to consume your "finish product" by yourself or give it away.

            But the problem is that the stills tend to blow up and when they blow, they can move whole houses so it's a bad idea to have the stills in the basement. :p There's many local heroes who have lost their lives in this way through the history.

          PS Yeah, l drove about in the 42 degrees day, had to return some DVD,s l had rented out, and by the time l had got to a shopping centre, l had mild sun stroke.

          Kept dropping spoons, etc?


          Had to have a ice cream before going home at 7pm, because it was still a stinker outside, (no air con in car)!

            Rumors about snow yesterday were exciting - never happens, though.

      A few days ago on the other side of the mountain from me in Winter Park, it was -30 f. If Winter Park was that cold, it was probably -45 f in Fraser Colorado, just down the road from Winter Park.

        That's cold! I've never experienced that kind of temperatures at this place because it's to close to the Atlantic sea. But if you travel close to the Norwegian-Swedish border, I'm sure you'll experience these temperatures as you mention right now.

        I have some friends that's in Buena Vista in Colorado right now and driving snowmobiles. Hope they don't freeze to death.

        Your probably right. Frazer is known as the refrigerator of the US.

        I remember the year - It was 1987 or 88 that my sweetie and I drove back to MI for Christmas from CO -- the actual temp was 56 below 0 and the windchill brought it to 102 below zero. Anything diesel was dead on the side of the road. People were cruising slow on the highway - first to pick up anyone stranded as they weren't going to last long out there - second because it was impossible to keep windshields clear of ice even with the heat cranked on high. If someone was crazy enough to shut their car off at the gas pumps you had to push them out of the way because they weren't starting up again. Mark duked it out in the isle of a gas station when his hand and another guy's landed on the last bottle of HEET at the same time. We got the bottle. About 4 AM we were starting to hear slush in the radiator so pulled into a gas station and covered up with blankets in the back with the dog until they opened. Then we got some more stuff for the radiator to get rid of the ice, gassed up and left again - had to get a jump to do that. When we reached Chicago, there were trucks jackknifed all over the expressway, but it was starting to warm up - almost up to Zero again when we hit the MI border. What a trip that was.

        The funny part was that everyone in the gas stations on the way acted like they were used to it - and we knew that wasn't true. LOL.

    Maybe we should stipulate that 40 in the US is COLD. 40 almost anywhere else is HOT! 40f=about 4c(slightly above freezing) 40c=about 104f(1 more degree for a body temperature, and time to get to a hospital quickly for a high fever)
