PC or Mac for Internet Marketing?

Hi,

I'm planning on switching from a laptop to a desktop, due to back pain.

I was looking at desktops and like the look of the new iMac.

Does anyone use an iMac for their business? Do you have any limitations
with using software? Is there some things you just can't run on a mac, or
can you get some kind of windows emulator if necessary?

Thanks, Phil

It used to be that having a Mac was a big disadvantage, but now with the new AIR technology most IM products are compatible with it. Some still aren't, but there's usually a similar program available if your first choice isn't. And of course now so much of IM is done on sites like WP and so on, having a Mac doesn't pose much of a problem.

I use a PC at the moment.... BUT of ALL the IM'ers I know in "person"... People I meet up with etc... I am the ONLY one with a PC..

I just don't see making the switch until this PC is ready to be upgraded...

The answer would depend on which system runs the software that you need for your Internet Marketing business.

It's not really worth asking other people on here, because everyone operates their own unique business model.

If you're going to boot the Mac to windows you might as well just get a PC because you could get a much better spec for the same money in my opinion.

On the other hand, if you're doing camera facing videos with your computer in front of you, Macs give a better perception of your image.

Best of luck finding the best solution for you.

I personally couldn't function without my Apple products. I use multimedia a lot can I feel like the Mac software is better and easier to use:

I like Keynote better than Powerpoint
I like iMovie more than Windows Movie Maker
Photoshop is a wash, same for each system
    etc...

It's really a matter of opinion. I'm happy with Apple, but there are people making a lot more money than me that use PC!

Think about this though, you'll have to buy all new software once you make the switch, so factor that into your buying equation.

If you are used to using a PC it will take awhile to get accustomed to a MAC. I personally never owned a MAC - so I vote for PC.

Just do both - buy a PC and dual boot Windows 7 and Mac OS X.

All my life I was a PC user until I started doing IM "seriously".

Once I made the switch, productivity went up, and the time I invested went down. Straight out of the box, my MacBook came with all the tools I needed for my business.

I also find Macs incredibly easy to use, and I've used a PC for over 12 years.

I just find the whole process of doing even simple things much smoother on a Mac, and it's not because I had a bad PC, I had a custom built rig that was top of the line.

So for me, and what I need for my business Mac is definitely the way to go.

i would use a pc because on a laptop you tend to be way too concentrated. As for pc or mac, i would say pc.

I don't think changing from laptop to PC will help with your back pain. When you work on any computer you should take frequent breaks and do some stretching. Posture is a big problem with people who sit for long periods of time in front of their screens.

These are some gentle exercises that may help you.

I'd rather choose PC because MAC has alot of compatibility issue with regards to softwares and other apps that you might need on what you will be doing.

Just install a virtual machine on it, problem solved.
