Web Conference---Danger?

Hi all,

I was wondering....does anyone think there any danger or security issues with doing online meetings?

I was doing a few online meetings using "google talk" and "joinme."

I noticed that my computer was sluggish after those meetings...and was wondering if somehow one of the meeting members dropped a keylogger into my computer?

Any chance of this happening?

~thanks for your help

  • Thre is ALWAYS a chance. It is probably UNLIKELY if you don't give them control of your computer, but most computers, ESPECIALLY windows ones, are FROUGHT with security holes. As for the slugishness, there are a OT of possiblities.. It loads software on your system to facilitate the meeting, it uses a few pages in your browser, it fills up the cache. It may use .net or java. ANY of those can slow down your computer. Clean out the internet temp/cache files, and reboot, and HOPEFULLY it will run much better.

  • Hello,

It is possible. Especially if file, program or desktop sharing feature is active. Although, if your security products functioning and are up to date, it shouldn't be a problem.

    good luck
