The above quote may be a slight exaggeration, but there is something to it. If the rule that no political (or religious, which makes it even broader) threads are allowed was strictly enforced, more than half of the threads in the off-topic section would have to be deleted. It would also make the section a lot duller.

This occurs to me as a recent thread was deleted after someone (rather arbitrarily in my opinion) objected to it. The topic was only political in the broadest possible sense of that term (and it's a topic that's been discussed often here) but apparently it offended someone's sensibilities so they went into "I'm telling" mode.

Anyway, if you think about it, anything that involves these (and probably other) issues is related to politics in some way:

Politicians (naturally)
Taxes and economic policy
Wars and foreign policy
Drug laws/drug policy
Any laws really

Come to think of it, this thread should probably be deleted as well. Isn't discussing what's related to politics political too?

    You left out anything concerning culture, sex, race, business, potentially language, and any topic that even peripherally relates to any concept of the above. The idea of behavior of fema, katrina, or BP stock and drilling, for example.

      Considering that politics is used when referring to discussing "policies", I imagine you're right. Even discussing the rules of the forum would fall under the "politics" of the Warrior Forum.

      I think you're taking the interpretation of that rule a little too far.

    Don't forget that health has now been politicized, too.

    Mostly what gets threads deleted is talking PARTISAN politics - where specific individuals or parties come under fire instead of just talking about situations as a whole. Situations as a whole -such as gun control don't cause the violent arguments that talking about specific parties or people does. Any thread that looks like it's going to go partisan is in danger of deletion - and people who actually go partisan on an issue get put in the corner.....er......get a time out.
