"Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and UPMC describe in PLoS ONE how an electrode array sitting on top of the brain enabled a 30-year-old paralyzed man to control the movement of a character on a computer screen in three dimensions with just his thoughts. It also enabled him to move a robot arm to touch a friend's hand for the first time in the seven years since he was injured in a motorcycle accident."

Full story here: Paralyzed man uses thoughts alone to control robot arm, touch friend's hand, after seven years

Now THIS -- is the type of thing we should be using our genius for. Not war or control.

We can do both! Humans can use an electrode array on the brain to control an array of weapons mounted on the body. This could also allow disabled soldiers back in combat.

That's nothing. My ex used to be able to get the dog walked, bins put out etc etc with just thought and a glance.

Put the disabled back in war. That's the sickest, most sociopathic shit I've ever heard.

That is awesome. Someday, if we can quickly control computers with our minds, I hope there is "double-check" option before the send button is clicked.

Holy cow. Now that's something to keep someone at the cinder block for hours. How many people do you know that can focus well enough not to need that feature? I don't think I know anyone who could do it -- and I know some damned intelligent people. Can you actually keep all random thoughts from appearing at all times? LMAO. Oops - daredevil feature, single click. What would the ROI be on that one? That's just too funny, Brian.

              Meditation.

But that's another neuroscience story, for another day ...

Maybe... but that reminds me of the discussion of arms control, which always leads back to: it's not the weapon that kills, but the human that pulls the trigger... in a political gathering in Ecuador a drunken man recently killed two persons with a knife!

Technology will always enhance our powers more and more, it's only up to us how we will use these new faculties! This is why a proper education is so important...

I just love how quickly technology is advancing. It'll be exciting to see where we stand 10 or 20 years from now.

If you let the trolls in the Mind Warriors section tell it, thoughts have no power.
