The Problem With Florida

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed a particular problem with IM product buyers from Florida.

Whenever there is a problem customer, or some bogus PayPal dispute comes in, I have reached the point where I know what country the person is from and their state. Rather, I bet my wife which county in Florida the buyer is from: Palm Beach or Miami-Dade.

With buyers from all over the world, and all over the US, the statistical probability that a majority of problems would come from two counties in Florida is highly unlikely. Is there something about living in Florida that creates a higher selling risk?

I've considered including a special "Florida" term in my TOS.

    That is interesting.
I have lived in Central Florida for 36 years.
Since you have already profiled palm beach/ miami dade, why not break it down further?
The majority are hispanics, could it be a language/ cultural barrier?

And since you threw down the gauntlet, you are from California, correct?

We refer to your state as granola...

    Miami has more cubans.
Palm Beach probably has more retirees.

I bet that works into it.

    Brian,

You need to talk with Randy Cassingham. He's done more FL-specific issues of "This is True" than all other states combined, I think.

I blame it on the heat...

Rob, I don't know the demographics in Florida or particular counties. It has simply become a laughable absurdity that I can predict two counties where someone's IP address will be from. Right now I'm chalking it up to hanging chads.

As for California .. yeah, bring it on. Whatever you have to say about the People's Republic of California is well deserved.

Someday, we may move ... and it could be to Florida!

        Well Played,Sir!
Even with our high falutin computerized balllots, the last general election was plagued with issues.

Regarding south florida, put it this way... you would be hard pressed not to see a billboard or a mc donalds menu in spanish.

As far as migrating here, I know some really great areas.

Matter of fact, I sell you my money pit, er, I mean house, for a song.

Don't do it, Brian! I'm pretty sure Rob's house doesn't have a roof.

Raising a child is akin to knowing you're getting fired in 18 years and having to train your replacement without actively sabotaging them.

Yeah, California probably has more fraud, etc... BUT, being a larger area, it is less obvious. And it IS a bigger market. It also depends on what you sell.

I really don't know. I live on the West Coast (of Florida).

    .

And its not just Florida, eh? Its only two particular counties in Florida?

Wow, you must sell a LOT of products to be able to gather such meaningful statistical data to back up your statement. But since you are a lawyer I guess you already had that covered.

I kind of get where you are coming from tho because I was going to make a post similar to yours but I was going to replace Florida with China. Or maybe Romania. Or India.

And I have real stats to back up what I say. I sold 5 products to people in China and f'ing 3 of them requested an immediate refund. They are all bunch of damn scammers.

My sister often remarks "that's dumber than a Palm Beach Democrat" upon hearing tales of stupidity. She has lived in the West Palm Beach area for 30+ years.

Okay - the tinfoil report here.

Florida is a favorite spot for TPTB to do population experiements. Serious. That's where a guy who was the FDA head a one or two back was doing the $1000 dollars and a t-shirt to spray you baby with toxic chemicals experiments that the last Admin told him he had to stop because people were bitching about them before he could take the lead of the FDA. The Terry Scheiver forced euthenasia case was Florida - and there were a few others that slip my mind right now - one was mind control.

So I imagine that the populations in some areas of the state are just plain on meltdown in general. Um....I'd highly consider Arizona instead.

Let's not forget about the Election debacle...

Florida was also one of the last states to submit their results in the past election.

Actually, a lot of the wacky news stories I read seem to come from Florida. It's one of the Top 5 places for those off-the-wall stories. What's in the water down there?
